What NOOOOO WHO THE FUCK IS GOING TO TASTE IT AND MAKE SURE ITS GOOD! DONT GIVE OH THE CHEF CAN TASTE IT NOPE THEY ALWAYS GET IT WORNG AND NEED TO ADD MORE SALT AND VEGIES
Sad, looking at the comments of everyone complaining about the Asian guy. It's clearly just banter, do you not have friends you can banter with like this? Sad.
@A. Septentrional look at the his expression, grinning ear to ear. There were no personal attacks made, he was literally just roasting him for not being able to finish the noodles as easily as he bragged in previous talks with his friend, as mentioned in the video. You have no idea what bullying is.
It's really cool that the original owner still comes in and chills out there even he's retired. He must gain a lot of pleasure from that also. Many retirees can end up feeling lonely or no sense of direction so I think it's great for him in terms of his sense of purpose and mental health
one of the reason why i love being Japanese because when you hungry, you feel hungry from your stomach instead hungry from your eyes that phrase literally means, only eat what your stomach can hold or accept instead letting your eyes's choose the food for you
@@JDirty-w-tha-30 ive tried to be consistent on eating everything on my plate but when i go to a buffet and they fumble the food, i cant risk getting sick, my stomach cant deal with old, bad food
Awesome noodles. I’ve gotten there late and had to turn around and get there early the next day. I used to call him Soba-sama and he’d laugh and call me Wheeru-kun because of my lightweight sports type wheelchair I used to get around town. He was a kind dude who’s passion was unrivaled. I heard he’d actually have them toss broth that wasn’t right in his later years. A perfectionist till the end of one of my great memories from my almost six years in country. RIP your noodles we’re still the best I’ve ever had
i don't understand why some people are irritated by the narrator. he's talking trash to his friend, he's a renowned chef, he knows what he's talking about. aren't you just being too sensitive?
Alot of people find this vid annoying is because instead of talking to his friend about the taste, history, and culture of ramen, he just turned the second half of the vid into a playground "bigger dick" contest....in the end it came across as disrespectful to the food.....and this is a food blog right?
pokeken true, but he was trying to illustrate a part of Japanese food culture and ramen culture that is seldom found in American shops. In the us people eat a bowl in 20-30 minutes, but in japan everyone takes less than 10. It's just a part of the culture and story that he wanted to tell.
Bred Saint because most of the time, people don't know when he is joking around. if you get irritated, then do you think he'd intentionally do that? and if it was intentional, what would happen to his show? im just saying people are quick to judge to things they dont understand, and in this case, his sense of humor.
Jesslee Tumamao Exactly, nobody knows his sense of humor that's why people are judging him face value. His supposedly funny-sarcasm backfired by evidence of viewer lack of appreciation.
Hes not being a dick he's being a friend. This is exactly how me and my buddies go out to eat and we make each other eat more. I dont want some watered down version of real life I want it exactly how me and my guys would do it and its better that way.
If he is a renowned chef, he should know enough to treat food with respect and not like a fucking play thing. First of all, does he have to swear so much on a food vid? Second why treat eating like some fucking Johny knoxville jackass stunt, instead of respecting that old man who used to make the noodles?
in this clip, yeah David Chang and Meehan are friends and business partners, this is regular friendly banter. But in buzzfeed's $10 vs $700 kbbq vid, i think David Chang kinda comes off as a dick "you think i'm gonna let you fucking guys cook?"
Really like the format. And yeah - what's not to like, when David Chang is in a video. My only complaint: the ridiculous low resolution. C'mon - a video like that deserves a minimum of 480p - but even better 720p!
i live in tokyo actually there are a lot of ramen shops where serves better ramen than taishoken i rarely go taishoken i recommend going to ikebukuro if you like ramen
Good luck you deserve a long healthy happy life. If you keep trying itll eventually happen. No one ever succeeds the first time in anything. All winners were once losers till they got it.
man watching this old clip and knowing what we all know now regarding Meehan's toxic behavior and David becoming a change man. You can hear the edge and anxiety in dave's voice. He's definitely a different man now.
My lowest weight was 41kg at 167cm eating 3 meals a day and never had a salad. They teach you nutrition wrong at school and may ads have skewed peoples idea of healthy. Knowledge is power my friend
Omori means extra portion thrown on top, mori is just regular size. Before ordering, I would have warned my foreign friend about the crazy portion of noodles on the side unless I have a reason to give him a hard time. I've been to a ramen shop run by Taisho-ken chef's student. They are also generous with extra noodles and they will pressure you to finish what you got. If you feel intimidated, you should specify how "super-sized" you want your omori to be. Japanese people are math oriented and they'll quickly measure the portion depending on your request.
everythings great awesome shop ramen looks legendary and delicious. in japanese culture you finish your food so you dont disrespect the chef so its fair that hes getting mad at him why did he even order so much if he cant finish it. maybe dont curse so much in a ramen video with a title like this we expected it to be family friendly. awesome video still i agree with the asian guy finish your food that you ordered instead of being rude in another country with a different culture. hes trying to be so respectful, he had to eat it for him in order to not be rude

makes me question Changs time in Japan when he keeps pronouncing つけめん like suuu- kei - men. Real nice, like saying a tuna salad as a "knee - coy's" salad instead of 'NICOISE".
I admit it's jarring, but I don't know why it would force you to question his time in Japan. One's handle on a language is not at all reflective of the way in which they embrace a culture.
Yamagishi-san died just a few months after this was filmed. RIP.
Oh man, this has sadden me greatly I just discovered this amazing Japanese Ramen chief.

Plus telling him to stop talking and eat is good advice. If you stop it's even harder to continue eating.

The Japanese are the type of people who can make any task an art form.
Even their genocide over China and other South Asian countries were another level of genocide.
Plamen Nedkov as messed up as Pearl Harbor was. It was pretty smart the way they did it.
They definitely mastered the art of war crimes, of which they were completely forgiven because they invented anime.
What a sweet story about the owner. Loved the banter over the ramen. Can't wait to try it.

with the amount he ate, looks like he couldn't even finish a regular sized one lol
