Wow that was awesome! Haven't seen a guy trying to do so much with so little since me on my wedding night. Only difference is that he actually leaves you satisfied at the end of his performance!
one of the best modern drum solos right here. after 5 years still holds up too. dude checked ALL the boxes: Played with the meter, odd time signatures, interesting motifs, repeating themes with plenty of variation to keep them spicy, creative, upbeat, long sessions where there's groove, plenty of chops, good dynamics display, and literally anything is fair game to be made musical. His stick work is something of a treasure, especially considering how often he changed grips to achieve the stroke on the various mediums he was using. His speed, especially considreing the multiple surfaces, is impeccable. He's in good time with himself as well. Great stuff. And these "small kit" solos never cease to amaze, and this one is a standout among many great small kit solos.
Maybe the camera just stopped recording for a second but the voice was caught on tape so they didn’t want to jump over anything so they just put something on it. Just guessing tho.
This is how the internet sucks. The guy plays an absolutely brilliant solo with a minimalist kit and gets all kinds of haterade spewed on him. I'll enjoy this for what it is and ignore the comments. A guy doesn't get that good at his craft by surrounding himself with negativity.
Yup...you're spot on.. tbh the negativity only comes from those who are jealous..should pity them. I thought that this was absolutely awesome. His crisp accuracy would make a nun weep....
Carlos Dantana lol I removed my comment after seeing yours 😁. I just don’t understand the need to drum on the non-drum parts of the drum set, surely it makes more sense just to get a bigger set? But this guy is definitely very skilled 👌🏿
Severus roguefort Ignorant. They hear but do not understand therefore can not comprehend the level of skill involved. I am not a fan of drum solos but enough inventiveness to keep my attention here. Unbelievably fast hands. The rolls between the snare and cymbals blurred into one instrument. I play something similar but in triplet form with the accent on alternate cymbals on the third beat.
This is no ordinary drummer. He has excelled where others have failed. Like a true genius he didnt let restrictions hold him down. Best thing drumeo has ever out out...hands down.
I may get hate for this, but I think this guy is like the Jimi Hendrix of drums....minimalist equipment, incredible talent (creatively and technically), and unconventional techniques to expand the palette of sounds he has to work with as much as possible. It's really awesome to watch!
Started watching the video hoping to pick up some tips on going with a minimalist kit. Watched the video like 7 or 8 times now. Scott Pellegrom is an absolute master. That was incredible!
You don't need to be as good. You don't need to be a 5 star chef to be able to critique a meal, as long as you know what food tastes like. Just like you don't need to be an awesome drummer to critique a drummer. It's all personal opinion.
If there was any such thing as a best drum solo ever, I'd personally have to pick this one simply because of the unmatched creativity. This one stands out more than any other i can think of!
This is living proof that Less = More. Drummers are free to play on any sized drum kit they desire. But when a drummer plays on a minimal-sized kit like this, the energy and focus feels so good, that creative flow... I can't explain it. With a kit of this size and simplicity there's no pressure to play flashy chops on 5, 7, or a dozen other toms and cymbals attached to a drum kit; this is when a drummer learns to work with what he or she has, and just wing it... why shop for vegetables at a supermarket chain when you can grow your own veggies right there, no additives or preservatives, served fresh from the soul! Thanks for this awesome share!
LESS IS MORE... I LOVE the scratching/swiping on the snare.... I have never thought of that. So many weird techniques to create different sounds with so little kit... AWESOME!!
I don't know for sure. But I think I'd need just an equal amount of cocaine, meth, bath salts, and a dash of heroin, plus huge loads of weed, and a bottle of beer. -- Oh, please don't forget the steroids and some extasy (if I even spelled that correctly)
God has just played through him...if i may say so. Nothing has felt like this for some time - pure energetic joy & wonderful sounds throughout. Thank you so much, guys!
I think very few thinks cannot be done in a e drum similat to this one, of course, the price difference between a quality e drum and an acoustic one is huge.
Good luck playing acoustic drums in an apartment. If I can, or possible, I'll try to get those "quiet" kits, set up some fiberglass panals, and hopefully not bother my neighbors

Extremely creative. He had me listening to the entire video! There is something to be said about creating all these sounds and feels from so few pieces.
I love it. I always tell my students best way to get better at groove and feel is to break the kit down. It forces you to only have 3 to 4 options, which cause you to get creative. Great job
One's gotta ask himself how he came up with alotta of those inventive sounds. Was he locked in a room with just a snare and a hi-hat and a pair of drumsticks for like 10 or 15 years? Did he carve a drumset out of coconuts while being on a deserted island? This and more we may never know.
Excellent. Beautifully creative. Expressively musical. Holy Krakatoa, that was brilliant. Thank you for doing this Scott, and Thank you Drumeo for sharing. WOW
