If you notice, Charlotte took George's "incomparable" as her highest compliment and present day, all the debutantes wish to be names the season's "incomparable" by the Queen. These two fell into deeeeeeeeeeep love with each other, I see.
@@talitam.8414 what I'm hearing is historically it takes a "mad man" to love his wife??😭😭 (I don't agree with that sentence, I'm saying it as a call out just in case, of men marrying women they hate/dont like enough)
@@luciuscabralzenardo2897 He had occasional fits in his younger years but he was lucid and was quite a brilliant man. It was in the last decade of his life that he went completely insane, blind, deaf and mute.
You have the best edits-well done. Queen Charlotte has some great lines: "Sorrows-Sorrows-Prayers"; and my favorite "virgins to the left..." I'm using them, already.
6:52 Ok, the woman who just died giving birth is Charlotte and George's granddaughter, the man who keeps crying over her is the young womans father and George and CHarlotte's oldest child George the Prince Regent and future George the fourth, and the reason we don't see his wife Caroline of Brunswick at her daughters funeral is the same reason why she wasn't invited to her husbands coronation and probably he same reason why they only had the one child - Caroline and George hated each other.
@@FunkyNaomii I think when they say 'princess royal' they mean a child or a grandchild of the reigning monarch, a direct descendant rather than an in-law. In any case, I think they might have mentioned the name Charlotte which was the name of George the Prince Regents daughter who did die after giving birth to a stillborn son.
@agenttheater5 Thanks! Could very well be that too. But the guy crying every time it gets mentioned is Charlotte's son, right? I thought the crying was because he couldn't handle his wife and daughter dying in childbirth
@@FunkyNaomii yes, he's crying over his daughters death - re whenever Charlotte said that the only legitimate heir to the throne was dead. If she was his wife she wouldn't be the heir. he's their eldest son George the fourth - though now he's George the prince regent
I spent all day watching the series I was so excited that I couldn't stop myself from finishing everything... and now I'm sad because I finished it too quickly and I want more
Unfortunately, in those days if you had an old rich husband and he died - nothing was left to you. Women were generally not able to inherit. It went to the next male in the family, which was generally a son but could be a distant cousin and they could throw you out on the street (demonstrated in the issue the Featherington women faced in S2)
True, but it was also generally considered "the thing" for the inheritor to take care of the widow, and then she was allowed to do pretty much anything she wanted. After you're a widow, chaperones were unnecessary, you get to decide what functions to attend, who you wanted to dance with... In comparison to the hyper controlled beginning half of their lives, that would be true freedom 🤷🏻♀️
5:36 "mistakenly think you can make decisions'...."you cannot" Let that sink in. Sooooooo, they don't think women have the mental capacity to make decisions. But in this scenario, her brother tells her she cannot make decisions even though she is being forcibly married to become a QUEEN.
20:32 it’s unclear as to what exact illness he had. It’s a little hard to tell when “the mad kind” (George) went mad. Some say he went mad because of or after losing the American revolution. Other than being born 2 months earlier/premature, his childhood and adolescent were mostly medically uneventful. He probably had tantrums as a child (?) but a lot do. But some say that the first indication that something was wrong with King George III was around 1765. He was 27 and had been on the throne for 5 years when he came down with a fever, a racking cough, sudden weight loss and severe insomnia. Some medical historians have said that George III's mental instability was caused by a (undiagnosed) hereditary physical disorder called porphyria or severe bipolar episodes, or possibly both or something else entirely. The remedies were “disturbing”. In 1788 (?) George's increasingly irascible behavior developed into a more serious illness over which he and his doctors had little control. He had many episodes of a mysterious sickness, that led to his forfeiting the throne to his wayward eldest son, George, who became Prince Regent in 1811.
Loved your reaction! Just wanna say about the sponser though, be aware they arent always great, i was with them for a while and it actually worsened my mental health, one of the therapists actually told me i was choosing to be depressed. Obvs i know this isnt everyones experience but i want ppl to be aware of this
This show is amazing! Each episode gets better and better. You guys will definitely go through a emotional roll coaster with each character. You will definitely appreciate all the storylines this show has.
When I saw the thumbnail and title which said ‘why does everyone keep saying Queen Charlotte will destroy us?’ then right under it was there ep 6 reaction and the title was ‘this destroyed us body soul and mind’
Hey ladies, great to see you back in the Bridgerton Universe. May I say you both look fabulous, you both working these colours. Enjoy this series, I know I did....looking forward to joining you on the journey with Queen Charlotte and King George.
The Queen Charlotte book is a stand-alone it's written by both Julia and Shonda and hands down far better than any book in the Bridgerton novel series. By the time you get to Ep6, you'll want to read it to get closure bc I don't see there being a Season 2 of Queen Charlotte 🥲
A second season isn't needed. Queen Charlotte and King George were real people and it only takes a Google search to know what their lives were like after the birth of their first child. It's a limited series and many limited series don't need second seasons.
Tea party! Love the outfits! I mostly enjoyed the 'now' storyline, but I do think they cast an excellent young Lady Danbury. Her eyes are so expressive and beautiful 🤩
I’m new to your channel and I am so excited to see channels I don’t know react to this wonderful show. This is hands down my favorite season so far. I made the mistake of binging the whole show in one day. I have really started enjoying watching it with fun and wonderful people like y’all are. I look forward to watching this with y’all!
10:32 every thing won’t be yours actually. Bc England was cool about a lot of things, women, were not on that list. (And the majority of world at this time too) That’s why the featheringtons were so desperate about getting a new lord featherington but also worried bc he could do, more or less, whatever he would want. It’s also why having a son is so important. Like the dowager princess kept talking about Charlotte one day giving birth to the future *King* of England. And Anthony became the viscount the minute his father died. Because 1. He’s the firstborn. 2. He’s the first boy
my theories about king george's mental health issue: 1. Dementia - it could be dementia, which is brain deterioration. However, if it was, he would've most likely died young since he's probably about 18-21 ish. 2. DID - it could be DID if he had repeated trauma as a child. However, usually people with DID have different identities for each alter because each alter is a different person in the same body. 3. PTSD - he may have some sort of traumatic experience that sets him off. However, he doesn't seem to be having trauma-related flashbacks. 4. Stress/Anxiety-Induced Psychosis - this makes the most sense to me. his anxiety and stress levels rise, and he has a temporary mental break in which he suffers from hallucinations and/or delusions.
Can't wait for you guys to finish the series! It has a really beautiful ending. Also not sure if you were planning to but I'd love to see your reactions to Daisy Jones and the Six as well.
Such a fun reaction. I love this channel already. You guys made me want to have a tea party with my girls too. Those snacks looked good and the tea set was so beautiful.
