I have a 4-pc in black slate. Buy one. You won’t regret it. Combine it with the Phonic reissue and the sound alone will turn heads. Sonor is simply the best.
Tomorrow I’ll be buying a vintage series bass drum as the first piece of what will ultimately hopefully be the last kit I ever need to own. I’m having the worst anxiety trying to decide between a 20” and a 22”. Thoughts?
I've been in that exact same situtation, but ended up going with a 22" because I already have a great sounding 20" on my gigging setup. I guess it really comes down to what you're looking for and what kind of music you're going to play. If you need versatility and/or punch, 20". In my experience, you really can't go wrong with that size. It's great if you need a compact, punchy sound, but will also work tuned into a higher range or tuned super low (though obviously not as well as sizes more suited to those ranges) If you're looking for a bigger, beefier sound, then 22". Slightly less versatile, because it will probably not cover your Jazz Trio needs, but more suited to heavier music because it just has more low end. If you're buying from a local shop, it might be worth checking out both sizes and seeing which one feels and sounds right to you.
Haaa. I totally get it. Well, if you play jazz or hip hop, it’s the 20” cus it can def handle Rock, just needs a dog head. But if you are going to play more rock, you can still do all the other stuff. I have a 20” kick, no regrets. Super light for gigs too. I also have a 22” Champion, very similar build. Which is why I’m confident in my feedback
@@timtownesschweiger5366 I’ve had kits with both size kick drums and there’s so much I love about both. My thinking is that it’s always been easier to make a smaller drum sound big, than to make a big drum sound small. I’m about to relocate to the Seattle area where I’ll be playing with an underground noise punk band - but I also will want to branch out and play much more subdued styles as well. I’m just so torn. Another part of the appeal of the 20” is Tom placement. Idk what to do. I’m sure I’ll eventually have both but right now I’m dying haha.
I have both in the Vintage Series Black Onyx finish [ which sadly is no longer offered]. So much depends on the music you play. Also if you're being mic 'd. But the 20 sounds huge but is very articulate. Hope that helped
Do you have any advice for tuning. I was really digging the sound but can’t really figure out good relationship with my heads batter and reso. I have a DW collector 13x8 rack Tom and 16x15 floor Tom. I tried to do enough tension on the reso head for enough rebound but not too tight . Then I tried multiple ways with the reso . I’m using the drum dial also to make sure each lug is very close in tension.

22x?
13x?
16x?
Sound top!❤😊
22x14, 13x8, 16x14 - all the sizes are on their website
Inhaber a 72 swinger Kit with the same color. Just need a matching snare. But that’s 700€ 😅
This makes me want to get the 22 and 13, hell, might as well round it out with an 18ft.
I guess this would sound killer 😃
What cymbals is he using and sizes….?
Thanks
dude :o

@@digitaldrumming thank you very much
this whole benny greb thing is becoming quite annoying
Said no one ever...
Buy one and see how you feel haha. Or at least play one. My brass bg model replaced probably five other snares for me.
I've got the beech BG snare and its a fuckin powerhouse mate
