- Fiber and IR lasers are incredibly fast and can engrave on most metals. I put Atomstack's M4 fiber/IR laser to the test and the results may surprise you. If you are looking for a fiber/IR laser you may want to check out a few before you purchase. If you think you are ready to buy one, you may want to watch this video before you pull that trigger.

Fast? Lol try a 50 or 60W Mopa Fiber and you will know what a fast laser really is :)
There reasons why a proper Fiber laser costs 5k+
Yeah those aren't desktop either. Haha 😂😂😀
With enough passes could it do a .003” depth engraving in steel?
I'm not really sure. Sorry.
They are pricey for the average diy'er and not sure its worth the cost.
They are costly and unless you are starting a small business I would not suggest getting one. But they are cheap than some other comparable ones.
Great vid! Love the hammer!
Thanks 👍
is this laser suitable for leather products?
Yes Atomstack says you can do leather with it. I have not tried it though.
Appreciate the honest review, didn’t feel like you were giving any gimmicky vibes just to hype a product. Where did you buy your atomstack from? I’ve been considering buying one but also interested in the Laserpecker 3 or better yet the 4 once it officially releases to market
Hey Juan, I appreciate that. I got mine straight from the company. I haven't used the Laserpecker, but heard good things. I am going to be reviewing the xTool F1 pretty soon. It's another option. It has an IR laser and a Diode laser for a wider ability to engrave on more items.
Great review Ken. I'm curious regarding what the depth of focus on the AtomStack machine is; that's why you didn't get good results with the curved surfaces, you went out of focus at the edges. I have the 1064 nm module for my diode laser which is the same wavelength as the fiber laser you reviewed but your fiber laser will have higher output power, the module I have is a pumped diode that only puts out 2 watts. That said, it does engrave on metal and stone much better than the 455 nm module and with better resolution. The real downside is the wicked short depth of focus. On the module I have, the depth of focus is approximately 1 mm (just a bit over 1/32") making it very challenging to get the focus dialed in.
Hey Mark, I'm not really sure on that one. My diode lasers do a pretty good job on the flasks .
thats crazy, I have ingraved the same non-witch 3 month ago on a black painted tile!
Haha, it's a neat picture.
Great information thanks for sharing have a great day ✌️
Thanks, you too!
Great Review, I did a good slate coster also and then a few bad ones as I didn’t take a note of my settings. What settings have you been using for the slate coater? Thanks 👍
If memory serves me it was 300 speed and 100% power.
Don't need one at this time but cool information 😎
Thanks for watching and commenting.
What's the noise from? Actuators and cooling fan?
Yes it's the cooling fan.
like the review stay cool
Thanks. It's a cool machine, but may not be practical for a woodworker.
Cool little laser 👍
Thanks Steve. I will be making my maker coins with it soon.
I might have to consider this one. I have a laser pecker one right now and let's just say it's less than stellar LOL
I have not been able to review a Laser Pecker yet. Is yours a 3?
@@MoonpieCreations no it's the one pro. It's okay for solid letters but it's slower than molasses. Forget photographs or anything like that.
@@paddlefaster I may be testing the Laser Pecker 3 shortly. And they offered the 4 once it comes out. I am curious to see the differences in those versus this one.
Love the hardware reviews you have done.
Thank you. Trying to mix it up and give some extra content on Mondays and Tuesdays.
