You should post the driver name and information. This is not the 1st time he did this. You should post his information so you can save other from having a bad experience or even worst than an experience. I suggest post that face and info of driver. Most ppl use Grab and trust Grab instead of Taxi. Still this happens, save other people.
When in Manila,......never let your guard down!! Which means always be on the alert and know where you are going! My husband is Pinoy and i am a foreign woman. I lived in Manila( makati) before i met him. My husband is from the Province, but also worked and lived in Manila. He knows the ins and outs of Manila,and he never allows anyone to start or try to scam him! I really appreciate him,as he taught me exactley the protocal when using taxis,jeepney and bus. I know exactley where i am going and where i need to get off. Also as a foreigner i learnt to be assertive and know where to get off and how much i need to pay the taxi driver!! Never show any signs of weakness or uncertainty when travelling around Manila. These taxi driver can smell and sense when you are not from Manila,.......and they grab hold of the opportunity to exploit you! Know your way around and make it know to the driver you are aware of everything!!!
even filipinos where scam by them like in super market if your new to the area they usually increase the price of the product they sell if they see you new to the area and i advice is if your new to market look at other stalls first especially those who have SRP like a cardboard with price hanging at top of the merchandise for example in the market you found a first stall selling tomatoes and it has a sign like 60 per kilo and inside the market especially in the end people sell it for 70 pesos if you didn't see a price tag for tomatoes and usually the weight usually they cheated they adjust it if you have friend in that market if you think you are cheated of the weight scale you can go to that friend to help you weight it properly you'll be shock how much grams they cheated usually 20-50 grams increase
A lot of Filipino men are simply not man enough ..I’ve noted the women are as tough as nails. My partner makes mince meat of most guys but she works in the corporate sphere and manages a lot of people so will not take any bs from anyone…apart from me lol ..Filipina can be fierce apart from their loved ones.
After watching your live about this situation, Jonathan did everything right and deserves more credit. He remained calm and collected and acted fast despite what is shown on video. I had a feeling there was a lot left unsaid in this vlog cause it just happened and you guys needed time calm down and recall everything which is totally understandable. Despite the potentially bad situation, you two kept calm. You two are incredibly lucky as that situation could have easily turned into something diabolical. You need to report, post this Grab driver. He has done this before, you are lucky nothing happened. Save the next victim and be responsible report, post and share his info. So others can be aware.
When I get into a taxi, I always show him the way in the Google Maps application and ask the driver if he knows this road. I always tell every taxi driver that I know the way and don't try to trick me. During the trip, I always have my phone in my hand and look at the route. Only once did a taxi driver try to trick me, but I got out at the traffic light and told him that I wouldn't pay him because he didn't take me where I asked.
I always tell my kidz to send thru text the plate number immediately before riding a taxi or grab. Now, its better to take a picture of the taxi and driver before riding and send it immediately thru messenger to relatives for better safety precautions. Take care and always be safe. As you said the GPS is saying to turn but driver didn't? Then the grab company's monitor see the potential problem is showing in the internet so they send the police right behind you. That's what the gps is there for. Thank you for the technology.

That person needs a police report. Meron parin talaga palang mga ganyan kahit sa grab. Anong ngyare sa grab, dapat kasi may pumasok na ka-competensya para magtino.
Oo, he is logged into incidents. We had a similar experience in Cebu in May. The driver took a left instead of a right. He thought I didn't know where I was at.. I told him right then to stop and let my bata nga babae and me out of the car. He was going to take 14 extra kilometers to get us to the hotel because he looked at me and saw a white foreigner. I had to tell him I live here, bro, just one province over. Some drivers have been like this since they passed the bill and put meters in all the cars.
Thanks God you are all safe. Same experienced with me and my husband last June I was there a day before my flight back here in Kuwait. We took grab from Ayala Triangle to Venice Mall only but the driver went to the road heading to Cavite. Every time I rode a taxi or bus if I’m not the one driving, I always pretending to sleep always close my eyes even I’m not sleepy to avoid motion sickness. Luckily my husband noticed that we’re going far and he asked the driver if he knows where he was going? The driver said: Sir Sorry I’m lost the way. So we help him navigate using google maps from our cellphone. He said it is only his 2nd day driving grab taxi in area. I didn’t feel nervous or worried bcoz i saw the man is sweating while explaining and say sorry to us.

That is C5, which has several lanes going on both sides where the GrabCar driver took you, which is already outside the BGC area and far from where the hotel you are staying which is just a kilometre away from Shangri-la The Fort.
That happened to me in Cebu where i was from in 2008 with my Wife which was my GF then.i almost choked he cab driver cause he did the same.he got scared these arethe bad apples in my culture good thing i speak cebuano.i was already to do anything to defendmy wife and my life cause the taxi driver went off a diiferent route 3 kilometers off.God protects us who believes in him..God bless youguys ingat kayo alays specially you are pregnant..Viva Police Manila..amping mo pirmi.

Fortunately nothing more violent associated with taxis just realized later & even during the experience but confirmed later, that those were excessively scenic roundabout routes! I didn’t kno the area well & this was b4 smart phones….But plz don’t feel shame with ur countryman as serious crimes (not just robbery tho that is not good at all either), but personal violence has occurred with the other big brand company (U) in USA & every nation, tragically. It happens everywhere, planned out events & crimes of opportunity, too. In USA, we’ve even had more than a few crimes in which the goal was to obtain the baby from an expectant mother. 😰🙏🏽

Make a blotter report to a nearest Police Station,so that the proper authority can fully investigate it and give you enough justice for the aggrieve being done and can file a proper complain so that person will be caught and be given punishment
You should brought it up to Grab, and ask for compensations and justice for all the stress, hustles and even psychiatric trauma causes to you guys, it’s a serious offence from their side. Whatever the reasons of the driver was, it’s unjustifiably wrong.

You have to report it to the Grab Office, they have a record on a Computer for the point of destination from where they picked you up going to your place of address so that the Company will terminate that kind of person and not to happen again to others. I’m from the Philippines and I’m glad you’re both ok; thank God for sending the police. This may be a bit extreme, but whenever I went and came from a fancy event, I would literally dress down no makeup etc, while taking public transportation. I was alone and a female so I just didn’t feel comfortable looking nice; drivers will assume you’re rich and try to get more money. I’d arrive at my destination and find a nice mall area with nicer bathrooms, then got changed there, did my hair and makeup etc., got awesome, enjoyed the party. Then when leaving the event I’d quickly change back. It was an extra step but I pretended it was like a Cinderella moment to make it fun to be undercover, and off I went into the night looking like a hobo 😂. I know it’s a lot but that’s what it took to make me feel safer because Manila is crazy! I did live in another country once where my driver to public transportation did drive off with me and I jumped off once he turned off the highway. I was a teenager at the time. Thankfully it wasn’t a car but a manually operated bicycle with a seat. But still…I thank God for saving my life that day.

Hi Susie, next time when both of you are in manila, dont forget to screen shot the plate number of the taxi or grab you are riding with. Also, search for the police precinct hotline number of the area you are staying in. Incase something unusual happens, you can immediately report. Try to open your location whenever you travel. Also, the police can track your locationif ever you reported something to them. Dont forget to turn it off if not on travel.Thank GOD you are both safe.... Be very cautious next time. thank god youre both safe. that was definitely more than just a sketchy ride. probably one of those old trick where they drive you in an unknown area and 2 or 3 others will be waiting there to initiate a hold up. sometimes they also spray something during the ride that would make the passenger sleepy. it rarely happens anymore but it still happens, and thank god it failed this time.
Two things were happening to you. 1. You were about to be kidnapped and sold. It happens, but he was more than likely... 2. He was going a long way to price up your bill. This is very common when foreigners don't know the roads.

Oo, he is logged into incidents. We had a similar experience in Cebu in May. The driver took a left instead of a right. He thought I didn't know where I was at.. I told him right then to stop and let my bata nga babae and me out of the car. He was going to take 14 extra kilometers to get us to the hotel because he looked at me and saw a white foreigner. I had to tell him I live here, bro, just one province over. Some drivers have been like this since they passed the bill and put meters in all the cars.

Thanks God you are all safe. Same experienced with me and my husband last June I was there a day before my flight back here in Kuwait. We took grab from Ayala Triangle to Venice Mall only but the driver went to the road heading to Cavite. Every time I rode a taxi or bus if I’m not the one driving, I always pretending to sleep always close my eyes even I’m not sleepy to avoid motion sickness. Luckily my husband noticed that we’re going far and he asked the driver if he knows where he was going? The driver said: Sir Sorry I’m lost the way. So we help him navigate using google maps from our cellphone. He said it is only his 2nd day driving grab taxi in area. I didn’t feel nervous or worried bcoz i saw the man is sweating while explaining and say sorry to us.

It is good to blog as well before riding the taxi and include the driver and vehicle plate number and send to friends before boarding.

That is C5, which has several lanes going on both sides where the GrabCar driver took you, which is already outside the BGC area and far from where the hotel you are staying which is just a kilometre away from Shangri-la The Fort.
That happened to me in Cebu where i was from in 2008 with my Wife which was my GF then.i almost choked he cab driver cause he did the same.he got scared these arethe bad apples in my culture good thing i speak cebuano.i was already to do anything to defendmy wife and my life cause the taxi driver went off a diiferent route 3 kilometers off.God protects us who believes in him..God bless youguys ingat kayo alays specially you are pregnant..Viva Police Manila..amping mo pirmi.

Don't just report to grab apps(or management) to the police too.. sometimes it happen its part of the society in every country abusive individual its just there waiting for the right moment.. thank God you are both safe at the right place at the right time the police patrol pass by.. sometimes we learn from a dangerous situation.. take care always keep praying for safe travel.

@cvpoct466. I’m sorry you had bad incidents, too. Many years ago when I was young & single; I had at least two overcharge in big city taxis while relocating/new to a city and once while traveling. Fortunately nothing more violent associated with taxis just realized later & even during the experience but confirmed later, that those were excessively scenic roundabout routes! I didn’t kno the area well & this was b4 smart phones….But plz don’t feel shame with ur countryman as serious crimes (not just robbery tho that is not good at all either), but personal violence has occurred with the other big brand company (U) in USA & every nation, tragically. It happens everywhere, planned out events & crimes of opportunity, too. In USA, we’ve even had more than a few crimes in which the goal was to obtain the baby from an expectant mother. 😰🙏🏽

Make a blotter report to a nearest Police Station,so that the proper authority can fully investigate it and give you enough justice for the aggrieve being done and can file a proper complain so that person will be caught and be given punishment

You should brought it up to Grab, and ask for compensations and justice for all the stress, hustles and even psychiatric trauma causes to you guys, it’s a serious offence from their side. Whatever the reasons of the driver was, it’s unjustifiably wrong.

Never be too careful especially when you are in metro manila or manila in particular. You have to report it to the Grab Office, they have a record on a Computer for the point of destination from where they picked you up going to your place of address so that the Company will terminate that kind of person and not to happen again to others. I’m from the Philippines and I’m glad you’re both ok; thank God for sending the police. This may be a bit extreme, but whenever I went and came from a fancy event, I would literally dress down no makeup etc, while taking public transportation. I was alone and a female so I just didn’t feel comfortable looking nice; drivers will assume you’re rich and try to get more money. I’d arrive at my destination and find a nice mall area with nicer bathrooms, then got changed there, did my hair and makeup etc., got awesome, enjoyed the party. Then when leaving the event I’d quickly change back. It was an extra step but I pretended it was like a Cinderella moment to make it fun to be undercover, and off I went into the night looking like a hobo 😂. I know it’s a lot but that’s what it took to make me feel safer because Manila is crazy! I did live in another country once where my driver to public transportation did drive off with me and I jumped off once he turned off the highway. I was a teenager at the time. Thankfully it wasn’t a car but a manually operated bicycle with a seat. But still…I thank God for saving my life that day.
To everyone whose blaming me for what happened because im too calm that i should be more hostile, if we both panicked and hostile to the driver i dont think he would agree to let us off the car easily we dont know what hes capable of or if he has a weapon i will be putting my wife in more danger if we are agressive, i was trying to talk to the driver and telling him to turn around while trying to contact the police for help, this is not an action movie dealing with it calmly for me is the right thing to do.
Update: Grab called me they reassured me that they will take necessary actions they will summon the driver and investigate what happened.
I thought it was clear that the Jhon Wick jokes are jokes... This is not an action movie, this is real life. Being able to deal with things calmly is a gift that can more likely save your life instead of getting aggressive with someone who is already potentially dangerous.

Hi Susie, next time when both of you are in manila, dont forget to screen shot the plate number of the taxi or grab you are riding with. Also, search for the police precinct hotline number of the area you are staying in. Incase something unusual happens, you can immediately report. Try to open your location whenever you travel. Also, the police can track your locationif ever you reported something to them. Dont forget to turn it off if not on travel.Thank GOD you are both safe.... Be very cautious next time. thank god youre both safe. that was definitely more than just a sketchy ride. probably one of those old trick where they drive you in an unknown area and 2 or 3 others will be waiting there to initiate a hold up. sometimes they also spray something during the ride that would make the passenger sleepy. it rarely happens anymore but it still happens, and thank god it failed this time.
Two things were happening to you.
1. You were about to be kidnapped and sold. It happens, but he was more than likely...
2. He was going a long way to price up your bill. This is very common when foreigners don't know the roads.
