Lloyd, in listening to your order in Spanish I have to correct you, sorry:
👍 1) Always SAY PLEASE, i.e., por favor. ALWAYS, always, always.
You did not do this ordering at El Chuleton and also when you ordered at Oxxo. Folks, you can NEVER err being polite, saying please, and THANK YOU especially when you do not know (Mexican) Spanish all that well.
Mexicans say please and thank you, ALL OF THE TIME especially when they order from service personnel and they are natives to Mexico!
ANYONE Foreign is also expected to do likewise! You can only impress people being polite, always.
Note: NO ONE will say to you (to your face anyway) that how you are behaving is rude, but ... forgetting the basic niceities when ordering IS in fact rude in Mexico, especially because you are a Foreigner and new to THEIR homeland.
👍 2) ANOTHER necessary politeness: SMILE and always GREET people in Spanish (obviously) when you enter a restaurant or you go up to any street food truck. Say Hello ( ¡Hola! ) at the very least and Good-day ( ¡Buenos días! ) to be fail-safe polite. Mexicans can, and will, abbreviate this to just saying ¡Buenos! for short but it is inadvisable that you do so. Please SMILE when you greet people and you will make that needed Newcomer's first impression. Subsequently, you may even get better service the next time you visit an eatery, a truck or some such. Informality might work in Australia, but it does not in Mexico, NOT for Foreigners, anyway. You will be watched, by the natives and locals, so please make certain that your conduct is always exemplary, and reflects in the best possible way back at you.
👍 3) Speaking of being watched, expect to be stared at a good deal, whilst in Mexico. You are the curiosity to them. Staring is not as rude in Mexico as it is say, in other cultures, as well. I was brought up to think of it as being VERY RUDE.
And, please do not display your phone or money too obviously in public. I know of a FEW PEOPLE who simply took their phones out to make calls, or to briefly check for maps, and were robbed openly on the street in broad daylight.
Someone just walked by and snatched their phones right out of their hands. Moped riders will also ride right by you and snatch whatever you are holding in you hands, right out of them: Purses, wallets, phones, keys, whatever!
Having a working backup mobile phone is helpful, as well, dare I add.
👍 4) Also Lloyd, PLEASE turn the tacos sideways, before chowing down. That way, the toppings will not fall out. This method is tried and true. Trust! 👍

FYI, the taco you had had at Ay Taco was not made with a flour tortilla. Flour tortillas are only commonly used in northern Mexico because it's a wheat growing region but in southern Mexico tortillas are almost exclusively made with either yellow or white corn.
Also, the salsa de cacahuate that you enjoyed is made with peanuts. Cacahuate means peanut in Spanish. : )

Mexico is one of the next places to visit on my travel list along with SE Asia as I only have the US (where I was born) and Mandy's homeland of Canada and so now I'm hoping for Mexico. Im just dying to have the food! And the experience down there in MX but I absolutely LOVE tacos and for some reason street tacos are on another level😋. Great video as always😁

Best taco I ever had was in Cabo San Lucas at Sandos Finisterra resort. There's a little eatery on the resort that serves Baja Shrimp tacos and they were AMAZING. I had them just about every day we were there! If you get to Cabo you need to try it out!

I totally agree at best you will get a good taco at Playa Del Carmen but the best are in Mexico City, Puebla, and the state of Mexico. That is for all around tacos but there are some specialty tacos in different areas like you go to Rosarito for Carne Asada tacos, Ensenada for fried fish tacos, and San Blas for shrimp tacos.

Ah this is the video you edited, well done Lloyd! Nice one 👌
“Ay taco” cute location definitely beats eating in parking lot outside Mega 😂
El Fogon has been around for years, a few locations too. When I was there 20yrs ago there was the one location + it was so popular. The pastor (spit grilled like kebabs) is always delicious + cheap at most taco places. Another time you’ll have to stick to just one type of taco + compare them at diff places 👌

When you get sick of Playa....visit HUATULCO>...Pacific Coast....One of the greenest areas of Mexico....were ahead of the game before it became popular....quiet small town....lots of deserted beaches with big waves.....hilly ....lovely people. I think it would suit you both. Pronounced WATULCO. You will get sick of the tourists in Playa....and there have been some drug gangs causing problems. So be careful.

Great content guys. Enjoy Playa, Mayan Riviera and Mexico; looks like a lot of fun. But I hope you are aware that salt water crocs lurk in many of the lagoons, mangroves and creeks around Cancun, Playa and Tulum. Same around Oaxaca coastal area. Research it on Google and YT. Don’t panic, it’s manageable, just don’t swim there, but wouldn’t want you guys or Bear ending up as croc bait through lack of awareness. 🇦🇺

@@LloydandMandy One other suggestion. I’ve watched a lot of Mexican travel content in the past month, mainly Country Collectors and Jumping Places. Country Collectors Xcaret video got them 500k views in a year, its their second highest watched video. I know it’s touristy and expensive but it cuts through with a US travel audience. Could be a good way to take your YT channel to the next level. And its right there near Playa. Good luck 👍
