The woman who tried to foist that stuff off on you, assumed you were impotent! (Bloody Hell, eh?) >>> One thing you have to beware of living in Mexico is that EVERYONE will try to sell you something! Yea, really, why get disappointed and go to a Hard Rock Cafe, or even a Starbucks - US Brands. Many people prefer the better coffee at "Italian Coffee" local chain. Even most Hotels - American chains usually do not have as good of service as the Mexican Hotels. Notable exception - Best Westerns in Mexico. US Management leaves them alone - they figured out that the Mexican's knew more about service then them. So, in an major city in Mexico and you don't know where you want to stay? Best Western is a good call - and a lot of them are in historic Casona's even a Hacienda or too!
I love Playa. It's a great place to stay long term. It's changed a LOT over the years, it had around 2,000 people in the 80's when it was first starting to be developed. A note on them not speaking much English - many of the younger generation try quite hard to learn English. If they get fluent there are great job opportunities they do not have otherwise. If your Spanish gets good it's not uncommon to have conversations in 2 languages for each of you to practice. Also, you should definitely check out Taqueria Gomez near 2nd and 15th. Best tacos/tortas I've ever had. Make sure to give the tripa a shot!
So good to see u both, Lloyd & Mandy looking so chill and refreshed and happy and not wilted. Wow such an elegant copter ride! Looks from this presentation that PDC agrees well with u. Been going back and forth ever sense. I love that ya'll are rather laid back and calm folks that have a nice realness to you. Will look forward to ur next presentation. Love from Thailand. 🥰
I think you'd have an even higher opinion if you went to a few other places. Basically Cancun and PDC are the most touristy places in Mexico. It's close for you guys to check out the scene in Merida. Or a cheap flight to Oaxaca/Puerto Escondido. Bucerias/Sayulita/Pumta Mita north of Puerto Vallarta. Or La Paz, Cabos San Lucas, Todos Santos, San jose de Cabo Or even some inland places with milder weather. CDMX, Queretaro, Puebla, San Miguel de Allende. Huge country. Enjoy and explore.
I couldn’t be more excited and happy for you guys choosing Playa to settle. One of my fav places on earth …. Ahh the Caribbean. It was even magical in 2005 🏖 enjoy guys
Make sure to check out Oaxaca, MX! I've been all over Mexico and loved it there for the past two years. Oaxaca is the foodie capital of Mexico for sure. Not expensive either.
@@gregmurray1255 depends what standard and amount of bedrooms you are looking for. I would suggest looking on Airbnb and know that those prices are on the high end. Definitely cheaper than any other beach location in Mexico.
Mexico has a lot of advantages over other countries. But tourist visas are not always 6 months, it is at their discretion. But it is close to the US, friends, n family. Mexico is huge so you can have beach, mountains, big or small cities, hot or cool weather….lots of choices. Food is great , you can find great hospitals in the larger cities. Costs are roughly 35% of US costs. Yep, Thailand is probably cheaper but on the other side of the planet, mostly super HOT , and are you really going to learn to speak Thai ? Oh and you have to put almost $30,000 USD in their bank for a retirement visa. We are heading to the cool mountains of southern Mexico for cool temps every day, and we can’t wait…6 months to go !
I came in 2015 here on the Riviera Maya to work and now I am retired (since 4 years). I enjoy so much my life here. Very nice video guys. I did not have time yet to visit all the country but so far, Merida, Oaxaca , Puebla and Mexico city are my favourite places.

LOL you are not a real mexican, pocho! These people from the USA is causing trouble, STOP GENTRIFICATION! we don't want these people here, most of locals are pretty pissed of f
@@oneluvvv375 LOL it seems you don't know what is going on inside México, there's a lot of people from the USA that is moving to México due to the "cheapest life cost" they are working remotely and they are not paying taxes to the Mexican government and they are causing an gentrification in several cities of Mexico
I sold everything in the fall of 2021 and left Turdeau-Land for good. Lived in Merida ever since. Best thing ever. Viva Mexico. Life is cheap, food actually have a taste, it is a blast. When my former neighbours are shoveling snow, I just had another beer and jump in the pool.
Hi! It’s good to hear that you guys moved to Mexico! We haven’t been to Playa-del-Carmen yet. But we had been coming to Cancun at least once a year since 2002 and we were just there for 10 days last month! We loved it there! Enjoy your stay there!
Playa is definitely a hot spot. Sometimes it may get overshadowed by Tulum, but I feel Tulum is still too underdeveloped and quite a bit more expensive. Not as easy to get around either.
Wow it looks like you are both having an amazing time. I had no idea about the visas or the abundance of 'medication'. The helicopter ride looked great - topped off by a few cold beers! looking forward to seeing more. P.S I'm enjoying using Surfshark to watch Australian television while I'm here in Thailand.
Nice guys! Love Playa del Carmen..make sure to check out Puerto Morelos..it’s a little smaller than Playa and is a bit more affordable and less touristy
I would love a comparison video of SE Asia vs Mexico and cost of living comparison. I spent 6 mos in various Mexican cities and will go to Vietnam soon. So I am doing the reverse travel. 😀
New to the channel. I'm in Tulum now buying a place. I think tulum is gonna blow up as soon as the new airport opens up. There's so much new development going on already.
Maybe one day the plumbing will catch up with the needs of the exploding population. Although I've never heard of someone staying long-term. It's insane of all the building with absolutely no infrastructure in place. But when they build the airport and have that train I'm sure it'll keep growing
@@marimar3161 you ever notice how there's none of that in cancun? That's because they have barriers that they built which is what they're doing for playa and everywhere else. You'd have to be stupid to think with the hundreds of millions of dollars they're investing they won't figure out that small problem
A suggestion for you. If you want to take in some mayan ruin sites, Seek and Go Travel is great. Book the car and driver for the day. When you get to the sites the driver can hook you up with a guide. My last trip to Chichen Itza we ended up with an amazing guide, worth every penny for a private tour. Ek Balam is another great site to see if you are into it. You learn so much about the Mayan culture, your driver will take you to some great non touristy places if you are up for an adventure. Cheers!
Hi Lloyd and Mandy, in Playa you can get these white taxi vans (16 seaters) which the locals use, we been using it there so you can travel to other towns and area for cheap. My sister in law stays in Portu Aventuras - about half an hour away - Tulum way, and we paid i think was about 30 pesos pp. easy to find the taxi station. Enjoy
Hey! Where did You guys buy those bikes? We'd love to do the same next time we go back to PdC! Nice option getting around Playa on bikes actually. Aren't there any cheaper accomodations (long stay)? Because it didn't sound cheap to be in MX. Enjoy Your stay, we love MX 🇲🇽 Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪☀️
Yes there are LOTS and I mean lots of less expensive places to live! Not to mention there's so much new constructions goin up!! Now about the bikes...there are little bke repair shops that also sells em very cheap all over the not so touristy neighborhoods
Mexico and Mexicans are great! You should at least expect locals speak spanish, considering it is their mother tongue. Mexican is also locazide in the west, meaning "westernized" is probably redundent.
Yeah! I. Am so glad that you are safe with this wonderful country and I was there in Cancun but I was really glad and very blessed with this beautiful loving city. Mandy you can laugh a lot. Yes this is the best time with you2….. I want to see your home, it would be great
You look so happy in Mexico... keep up Lloyd and Mandy !!! I wish you a wonderful time in Mexico. I visited this place 10 years ago and you just remind me how happy and colourful the lifestyle is there. I recommend you to visit Merida in Yucatan. It's an interesting mix of Mayan and colonial culture.

Cute video but you're not exactly in the middle of Sinaloa, you're implied del Carmen were the largest tourist areas in all of mexico. Only a few miles from the largest tourist area of cancun. The whole peninsula. Also please don't think Mexico has the same safety standards. Helicopters in skydiving would be ill advised
The FMM is a form of visa, and lately there is no guarantee of 180 days for it. 180 days used to be standard, but isn't any longer. And for many people the temporary visa isn't cheap at all. I have lived in Mexico since 2004 and I think you have a lot of learn before you tell people how Mexico works.
They'll go somewhere cheaper other than playa del Carmen which there are plenty of all throughout Central America even within Mexico. But if cheap is all you care about there's always something cheaper
Portugal is just as beautiful and has everything beaches mountains and very easy to get a Visa so simple and cheap properties and rent I'm thinking about moving there they have a lot of expats as well
@@kathifailor4660😆Real estate in Cascais/Estoril/Lisbon in Portugal has same prices as French Riviera(I was searching a flat to buy in Portugal and as I live next to Monaco I was😳), if you go in any Portuguese shithole yes, it’s much cheaper, but if you choose to live in some village in the middle of nowhere there are plenty of better options than Portugal
Well lol I'm a 56 yr old and it is so much easier to get in to Portugal and become a resident/visa all they want to know is if you can support yourself while living in Portugal You don't need thousands in your savings or 2,700 a month like Mexico ! For the Expats that are not rich 🙄 it's a no brainer that Portugal is the way to go. Also it has everything that Mexico has and much more the Ocean is clean the River beaches have clean swimming water as well !! Mexico has flesh eating bacteria in the Ocean waters you have a small cut it most likely will make you sick.🙄 So yeah no thank you! Have a great time and Enjoy Mexico✌️
@@kathifailor4660 Hi Kathi, How are you? I'm a retired American living here in Mexico for many years. I'm wondering if you could fill me in on the specifics of what I would need to show the government in Portugal in order to live there long term.
Hey Hunk 007, I was looking to relocate to Manila soon and I saw you could get a furnished rental in Makati or BGC for about 20 to 25,000 pesos which is about 500 U.S. or less.
Great work guys!! It's very warm & humid there. Consider the Pacific Cost like Puerto Vallarta & Sayulita..It's a digital nomads paradise 😁. I will be retiring In Bucerias which is near by, safe travels from CALI.
The only problem is for the locals. People from the US or Canada can afford very well the cost of living but for locals is fucking crazy. Apartments, food, restaurants. I don't blame the digital nomads or whatever you wanna call them I'm just saying when the time comes for there to be no foreign residents, restaurants and landlord will regret. It happened during the pandemic. I saw rents ads.

They hide the seaweed in a trench in the sand. Never understood the physiology. Yes your right returns the next day. Keeps the beach seaweed boys employed all year round. There is no day without seaweed and the smell Especially up by the Hilton hotel. 😎😎
The seaweed all along the coast there was the record of how bad it's ever been. But that being said with all the money being sunk into the peninsula they will absolutely fix it within the next two to three years like they have in Cancun
Hey guys 2 questions ... What do you do without given too much away ..(Yep i know Digital Nomad But what sorta work ) .... And Can ya do a Taco tour ... and show us what its Like cause Lloyd likes the spice ..... Cheers from Langwarrin near Frankston 🙂
I love Mexico. I been working a lot in Mexico but also travelled there. Last trip was almost two months in January and February. First time I went there was in 2012. At that time I felt I love with Playa del Carmen. This time Playa became my worst nightmare!! I’m so sad to see how terrible they destroyed this little gemstone. Today it’s the worst place in Mexico. Never going back to Playa again. On the positive side I changed my opinion on Cancun. It’s actually a very pleasant and fun place to spend time. Could I live in Mexico? Certainly 👍🏽 But there are so many other places to check out first. El Salvador is ranking high on our to do list. Potentially for buying property and live our nomad life of Bitcoin 🤗 Currently we’re traveling in south east Asia. Thailand is definitely on the potential list for our future home away from Europe. But let’s see… we’re traveling for another two or three years so no rush However none of the two places justify a trip to Mexico. There are so many beautiful places. Chiapas being one of them. Or check out Bacalar. It’s only a couple of hours from Cancun. You will not be disappointed. It’s a freshwater lake and sooooo beautiful
Oi gioi oi accomodation sounds expensive.. Thailand and Vietnam is a whole lot less expensive!! But I haven’t been and no desire yet! A week to determine the country is great to settle good luck! Well see after a month or so and a trouble free visa waiver is only one pro .. I look forward to your feedback after 1 or 2 months. Stay safe that’s all and hang onto personal stuff always.. friends of mine had bad experience but that’s every where I feel 🙏🏻👍😎
For me this guy is from another world, oh look, only 2500$ in a month, apartment only 800$. I love Mexico and I want to move there, but it seems very expensive if you are not from the United States.
“PEOPLE DON’T SPEAK ENGLISH HERE” but the Mexican people you guys talked to spoke decent English🤷🏻♂️. I’ve been to Mexico many times and 75% of the people I speak to there always speak English😏
I love how he calls an actual Mexican town "pretty authentic" ha ha like we use that to compare restaurants outside of the country. but I get what you mean.
Hey guys - welcome to Mexico 😁 - i hope you can also enjoy there. I was wondering about your flight via Japan to .....????? What is different to Asia????? Maybe no rice anymore - but Guacamole, Tacos, Quesaliilla, Enchiladas, Tostadas and .......Magarita 🥂

6) Everything here in Playa goes by whatsapp groups... here 's the list:

Literally what I was thinking. Surely this is a viewpoint to have/give after, you know, actually living there?!
dont miss the local cenotes - search out a few of them - well worth the visit - and all the xcaret styled experiences xsenses I particularly liked
Cheers Mitch!

If you guys are still in town try "ah carbon". Their al pastor tacos and cheese dip are amazing. Mi fiancé loves it every time we visit Playa del carmen!
This was neat to watch as I sit in an all inclusive resort here in playa del Carmen.
haha amazing!
Have been watching you both since the beginning!! I’m Mexican American, welcome to Mexico!!! Can’t wait for you to experience our amazing culture/art/people/food and the liberty of being in this beautiful country :)

Thanks for the insights!! Great video
I live in NYC and am currently thinking of leaving . Are 6 month rentals available
Yes there’s a lot of 6 month rentals!
We love Playa our heart belongs to Isla Mujeres but Bahias de Huatulco is completely dreamy!
Great to see you guys again. What's the visa situation like for UK passport.
Playa is definitely a hot spot. Sometimes it may get overshadowed by Tulum, but I feel Tulum is still too underdeveloped and quite a bit more expensive. Not as easy to get around either.
Nice one Lloyd! Great editing, great video you guys 👌
This channel just keeps getting better and better. Nice one
Mandy ur smile is so charming love it
I moved to Playas Tijuana...I love it 👍🏽
Very good and fair assessment you guys came up with! Liked your video - from someone who's lived here over 20 years!
accommodation sounds expensive when compared to Thailand or am I wrong
Was thinking the same. $1300 AUD/mo is more expensive than many of the hotels they were saying that they were staying in.
Yes it is very expensive. In Chiang Mai you pay $300 for a studio flat
Double the cost of Vietnam
Yes it's expensive, full of Americans pushing up the prices and bloody dangerous

Note that most of the medication in those pharmacies is of average to below average quality. There is a lot of filler in most of the medication.
Get out! I was wondering what you were up to! You guys are epic Mandy. It’s Dan by the way :)
Nice guys! Love Playa del Carmen..make sure to check out Puerto Morelos..it’s a little smaller than Playa and is a bit more affordable and less touristy
Puerto Morelos is much nicer than Playa!
@@laddo For sure! I enjoyed it more than Playa
Great video. Thanks for showing us around. I'll be there soon so this video was helpful. Btw, amazing thumbnail!
Thank you 🙏
Where did you guys get your bikes? I live here and need one
You guys should check out Puerto Morelos not to far from there and alot cheaper nice place to just visit as well its just between cancun and Playa
You are right across from the Palancar Reef, one of the best diving spots this side of the planet. Have you guys considered getting dive certified?
Yes we have, it's just the time it takes we're soooo busy, but we'll get to it
I would love a comparison video of SE Asia vs Mexico and cost of living comparison. I spent 6 mos in various Mexican cities and will go to Vietnam soon. So I am doing the reverse travel. 😀
How was the comparison ?
New to the channel. I'm in Tulum now buying a place. I think tulum is gonna blow up as soon as the new airport opens up. There's so much new development going on already.
we've heard this from a few people, you could be right!
Maybe one day the plumbing will catch up with the needs of the exploding population. Although I've never heard of someone staying long-term. It's insane of all the building with absolutely no infrastructure in place. But when they build the airport and have that train I'm sure it'll keep growing
not gonna blow up. Sargassum is out of control and gets worse every year. Now half the year, the beaches are covered in it
@@marimar3161 maybe so. But the prices are really attractive. So I think it will grow a lot. And not everyone wants to be on the beach 24/7.
@@marimar3161 you ever notice how there's none of that in cancun? That's because they have barriers that they built which is what they're doing for playa and everywhere else. You'd have to be stupid to think with the hundreds of millions of dollars they're investing they won't figure out that small problem
18:10 Read the English captions. Talking about spice it's just appropriate.
Thanks guys for a great video. Enjoy your travel dreams. Regards Rusty from Perth WA
Enjoy
Love the videos!!
Where is that yoga studio you’re talking about? I don’t know that one!!!!
Favorite part was the mystery eski full with ice and tasty beverage's 🤤such a nice touch 👍👍🇳🇿🌺
Street inland gets even better.

It's so beautiful. It's worthy enough to live in such a nice place.😀👍👍
Thanks, Do you have a link for good long-term accommodation in the area please?
You can walk out beyond the seaweed, and it’s the kind that doesn’t stick to you. We were there in April and it was there.
Mexico and Mexicans are great!
You should at least expect locals speak spanish, considering it is their mother tongue.
Mexican is also locazide in the west, meaning "westernized" is probably redundent.
I live in Siargao, totally great to see you go where I plan on when my house sells here! Good job
Great playlist for this vid. Would be interesting to see a west vs east video. cheers
Glad you're thriving in Mexico. But why are so many Mexicans moving OUT of Mexico?
For jobs, opportunities, to make more money. The poor are trying are trying to move not the middle class and the wealthy.
Yeah!
Cute video but you're not exactly in the middle of Sinaloa, you're implied del Carmen were the largest tourist areas in all of mexico. Only a few miles from the largest tourist area of cancun. The whole peninsula. Also please don't think Mexico has the same safety standards. Helicopters in skydiving would be ill advised
wow very nice helicopter trip. Can't miss alux restaurant
The FMM is a form of visa, and lately there is no guarantee of 180 days for it. 180 days used to be standard, but isn't any longer. And for many people the temporary visa isn't cheap at all.

They'll go somewhere cheaper other than playa del Carmen which there are plenty of all throughout Central America even within Mexico. But if cheap is all you care about there's always something cheaper
Oh Mexico looks amazing. What is the climate like? Have fun guys xx
Mexico is a large country with diverse climates.
Your apartment is kinda expensive as compared to Southeast Asia, that worth of accommodation is the price range in BGC, Philippines apartment/Condo.
Portugal is just as beautiful and has everything beaches mountains and very easy to get a Visa so simple and cheap properties and rent
I'm thinking about moving there they have a lot of expats as well
@@kathifailor4660😆Real estate in Cascais/Estoril/Lisbon in Portugal has same prices as French Riviera(I was searching a flat to buy in Portugal and as I live next to Monaco I was😳), if you go in any Portuguese shithole yes, it’s much cheaper, but if you choose to live in some village in the middle of nowhere there are plenty of better options than Portugal
Well lol I'm a 56 yr old and it is so much easier to get in to Portugal and become a resident/visa all they want to know is if you can support yourself while living in Portugal
You don't need thousands in your savings or 2,700 a month like Mexico ! Have a great time and Enjoy

I will be retiring In Bucerias which is near by, safe travels from CALI.

wow those tacos look amazing
Nice video but do you think the appertment is cheap $1296.00 Aud i dont think thats cheap .
I pay $1400 for a house in Perth with 4 bedrooms .
Where in Perth?
SUPER cheap compared to where we come from, across the road from the beach, all hills included and a pool.. yep that’s cheap

Quinn’s Rocks north of the city.
I pay 6000 pesos roughly $300 usd for a furnished 1 bedroom (not a single/studio) 2 blocks from the beach!
If you get the opportunity do the swim with the whale sharks. This was the highlight of our trip to Mexico.
will do!
As soon as your ready...can you make a video on cost of living
This is ours on the concacaf youthbe channel
The only problem is for the locals. People from the US or Canada can afford very well the cost of living but for locals is fucking crazy. Apartments, food, restaurants. I don't blame the digital nomads or whatever you wanna call them I'm just saying when the time comes for there to be no foreign residents, restaurants and landlord will regret. It happened during the pandemic. I saw rents ads.

Mexico is not “westernized”. Mexico is the absolute West. Probably if not the most west located major country in the world, definitely one of them.
"westernized" county with direct European routes lol
Bienvenido a México
Welcome to Mexico
Nice vídeo thanks sharing
Potentially for buying property and live our nomad life of Bitcoin 🤗
Currently we’re traveling in south east Asia. Thailand is definitely on the potential list for our future home away from Europe. But let’s see… we’re traveling for another two or three years so no rush
However none of the two places justify a trip to Mexico. There are so many beautiful places. Chiapas being one of them. Or check out Bacalar. It’s only a couple of hours from Cancun. You will not be disappointed. It’s a freshwater lake and sooooo beautiful
It’s not a backpackers’ budget. 😢. It’s way too expensive for a budget traveler like me. I was disappointed
I didnt know Vietnam had Caribbean sea
Not everyone, thank you very much.
For me this guy is from another world, oh look, only 2500$ in a month, apartment only 800$. I love Mexico and I want to move there, but it seems very expensive if you are not from the United States.
