my sentiments, exactly. from the tender age of 14...I felt this woman knew my soul. Perhaps she did. And she spoke to all that I would endure, for many years to come. And she created, so that I would forever be reminded that my triumphs and heartaches are not unique. Her gift was more than vocal. It was an innate ability to actualize an incredible spell of love, and life, and tenderness, and loneliness. Yes, I knew her soul as well. I vow that her legacy will forever live. My children's children will know just how this woman saved my life by engraining my experiences into song.

I had heard of Amy Winehouse before. Her name had often been in the media. I remember particularly when she died. I embarrassed to say I had just dismissed her as another drug involved singer. For some reason, i decided to listen to one of her songs two days ago, just to get better sense of why she was so popular. I was blown away, and i cannot stop listing to her music. She is captivating. Absolutely one of the most talented artists( both in performing and writing), that I have ever heard in my life. So sorry she's gone.

Can you imagine how much of a gift, and a curse it was of the success of Back to Black for her. The emotions it brings her performing songs like these when she's trying to move on, and writing those songs brought a sense of closure for her. It took everything in her to finish this performance of the song. You can see her clearly becoming emotional at about 0:44 into the song. By 1:50 she's holding back tears not only to finish, but also the fact that they were recording, and filming her as well.

I always had the same thought as you, especially after discovering her first album called Frank. She's still super edgy on the album, but it's from a place of power. Basically calling out the men in her life as little bitches. Back to Black is the opposite, where she's been defeated by a man. She was obviously in a dark place when she crafted it. Then one day, I actually did find a live performance here on RUclips - that I've since lost - where she started talking before she sang. She was standing there with a bottle, drinking something, and says something along the lines of, "You know, you write these songs and you have to sing 'em over and over. It's depressing, man." I don't remember verbatim what she said, but I do remember her saying, "It's depressing." It really hit me because if confirmed my hypothesis that she was living in a vicious cycle. Blake and the drugs were the worst things in her life, but they also contributed to her greatest successes. She had to live in them. She could never really move on.

+viking brava My heart can't take listening to her music anymore; it just rips my guts out. Never heard of Amy Winehouse until I "discovered" her music in December 2014. I was blow away by her voice. Then, after being apprised of the tragedy behind the music, I honestly cannot listen anymore. Her music rips my heart out, and the emotion I feel toward her inner circle (including both her mum and dad) is beyond anger. The world lost a brilliant star.

it's such a shame. she was crying out so much and no one cared, not her father, her husband. no one. those two men who she adored the most exploited her in the worst way. she never wanted fame, just to be a small time jazz singer but her dad Mitch forced her. now he's even going ahead with a new tour of Amy in hologram form. just for money I suppose. why can't the man let her rest in peace?!

There are so many things that make Amy Winehouse the epic talent that she was and 4eva will be, but this time imma say this one. She never performed the vocal to a song the same way twice and every time she sang, you got 💯 of her real emotions and she'd bare her fckin soul in each note.

Up at 1:25am, listening to this and crying. My brother was killed 2 yrs ago, he was handicapped, and has always been treated like he didnt matter to people in this world, so when he was killed by a kid who shouldn’t have even been driving, and the cops did nothing!!!... the kids were high and on drugs and admitted it and the cops did NOTHING. Some days i cry uncontrollably cause he mattered and like always he was treated like he didnt matter....my hearts broken into a million peices.... and i hope i make it through this life, cause sometimes i just dont want to be here anymore.

MIFNP I doubt she was thinking about her dad...she was with him all the time, he even had his own seat in the places she sang at, on tour and regular gigs. Blake was who her life revolved around. Even during shows you would see her looking out into the crowd for him. Making sure he was still there cause you know he would leave at times to score some drugs. So no her father wouldn't be the one on her mind sorry. Her dad and mom split yeah, but she would still see him when she wanted, she just wished more than ever that he stayed with her mom so she could live with them both and be raised with them both. She hated they divorced true but he didn't stop having something to do with Amy just cause he wasn't with her mom.

@@krissymissy1888 her dad walked out on both her mom and any when she was little and that why she developed depression and bulimia. she loved him that much it tore her apart. then he has the nerve to come back in her life when she's getting recognised as having a talent. both Blake and Mitch are to blame for Amys' downfall

For you I was a flame
    Love is a losing game
Five story fire as you came
    Love is a losing game
Why do I wish I never played
Oh, what a mess we made
    And now the final frame
    Love is a losing game
    Played out by the band
    Love is a losing hand
    More than I could stand
    Love is a losing hand
    Self professed, profound
    Till the chips were down
    Know you're a gambling man
    Love is a losing hand
    Though I'm rather blind
    Love is a fate resigned
    Memories mar my mind
    Love is a fate resigned
    Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
    And now the final frame
    Love is a losing game

So terribly sad. No one really saw just how broken her heart was. Sometimes the heart can be so broken, along with all this fame, leading to a broken, lonely and empty soul, feeling worthless. She was truely so lonely.
Her family and band members definitely let her down! They should have gotten her to a psychologist to deal with her emotions and fix her broken heart, and then she would have been been ready to heal. She would have been bigger than anyone if she was taken care of and still writing and singing music today. I honestly wonder how many grammys she would have had today, if she was still alive! She was one of a kind - so talented, but a broken heart - is what truely ruined her in the end!

You know her. You fall in love. She says she loves you. You love her. You do everything for her. You plann things exclusively for her. But someting is wrong. You feel that she doesn't feel the same way you feel. She says she needs time. Today she told you that she doesn´t love you. After all, she was in love with her ex. You were just a part-time. "But, hey, thank you for everything", she says.

Thank you Amy that you gave us your music, your voice and your soul to listen to. I do not know any artist that expresses its feelings so raw and heart gripping like you do. And then it hit me that I have lost more people to intoxicants than to anything else. I say this as a survivor myself. 7 months sober and wholeheartedly grateful.
