Dear Scott,
I'm a 27 year old grad student working on a doctorate in pharmacology. Every day I wake up at 6am, work until 9pm researching, go home to my crummy apartment by myself, and wonder what it's all for until I remember "Oh yeah, Scott has tons of really cool and fun videos! Instead of moping around, I should go watch him shoot a huge gun!" Your vids have helped me in some of my darkest hours and I wouldn't be getting through school without you. Thank you so much for all of your videos and for doing what you do. I hope it doesn't ever feel this way, but if you ever start to feel like you "just make RUclips videos" then always remember that the positive effects your work has are farther reaching than you might imagine.
Sincerely,
An overworked graduate student.

My first shotgun is a mossberg 500 all black. Cheap and reliable, I love it!
The shaving cream shots were straight up heavenly.
I use to have a 590. Showing up to clay pigeon shoots was a blast with that thing. Older shooter's had to check out that pistol grip action and younger shooter's loved the heat guard. Mossberg has always been good at shotguns and accessories.

Mossy itself looks little bit too weird for my liking 😅
Pretty sure the Chainsaw is meant for Door Breaching I would say this is more for the Police than Military since Military Breachers tend to also go in with the rest of the squad. That's my thoughts at least.
dude he's the best. easily top ten all time RUclipsr channel. He might be my favorite
its intended for defense or police action firing from the hip not for hunting the handle would be distracting for hunting usage though its designed well enough that it would still be usable
@@ferrofeles2063 The reason I say Breaching is it does have what appears to be a Breaching Muzzle where you jam it into a Door Lock or Hinges and use Breaching Slugs.
@@WastelandWanderer1216 I'm glad to see that someone else knew the purpose of this gun
The Chainsaw was first advertised as a door breaching tool. That's the purpose the odd shape of the muzzle break. Shove it against the henges or the lockset of a door and blow them off without causing a barrel obstruction. Sorry I'm old, but I still remember stuff like that
Really? I remember it being marketed as an anti-zombie gun during the zombie craze of the early 2010s (the same time as Hornady's "Zombie MAX" bullets) because chainsaws and shotguns are "traditional" zombie-killers in movies, so why not combine the two?
I'm betting they rebranded it as a breaching tool after the craze died down.
Is that why he has to shoot everything at close range?
@@amberslahlize7961 That's because aiming a gun from the hip is not only really hard, it's also dangerous because you almost always shoot high.
@@Bacteriophagebs Oh, I thought that's what the handle on the gun was for, for extra control.
interesting
Holy Crap!! that Mossberg Chainsaw turned all your props into modern pieces of art… on you!🤣🤣🤣 Stay safe Country Warrior Outlaw!!🌈🙏🏼🤗
This is my all time favorite. The entire 5:00-7:00 was just great
This actually does have a purpose. The handle allows you to hold it vertical or at a 45 degree angle when breaching a door a little easier than a foregrip or a standard pump (shooting a lock or hinges). Potential video idea?
Exactly
That makes sense to me
Sorry but that was not why this was made and it would not work very good for that.
This thing never had a purpose. Until Scot found one. It is clear this was made just so guys could shoot trash off a table so it looks great on video.
@@robertsears8323 No, that actually is the point of this shotgun. The muzzle device is actually called a "breaching device", with the intent to dig into doors and stabilize the gun, designed to blow off hinges on the other side. The chainsaw grip helps you leverage the firearm into the positions needed to take out a hinge, which from hip height...actually does come across as 45 degrees. Huh. Looked at my own door on that one.
@@SnivyTries pretty sure that guy is just being a good. I mean, read the last sentence… I don’t think he’s serious
"You brought a knife to a chainsaw fight." Almost as bad as bringing a skateboard to an ar15 fight. GO KYLE!
🤭
I have used the chainsaw grip on some of my setups and where it really excels is Critter Control. Just like with a Shockwave you simply must have a green laser if you want any semblance of accuracy. But I have used the chainsaw setup to take out some really nasty venomous snakes and other Critters. It allows you to place the pistol grip against your hip and drop the barrel straight down where it needs to go, greatly mitigates recoil, is easy to hang on a hook somewhere vertically, and allows for a very rapid cycling while keeping the barrel on the target.
,,Alright that was a little bit messy... Let's continue with that"
Epic quote
Scott, i have to say that even with the constantly diminishing quality of youtube content, you are one of the few who continue to produce high quality content. You must be protected at all costs. Thank you for being able to do what you love and legitimately entertain us while doing so❤️
It isn't the content that is diminishing in quality, it's youtube itself.
@@looksirdroids9134 RUclips and the people who run it awful, but no. The content is definitely diminishing in quality. Really it is the advertisers ruining it. Whenever someone has a sponsor in their video, they have to first send it off for the sponsor to check and make sure the video is to their liking. They give the thumbs up or they say "You have to remove this part." and the content creator has 2 choices. Choice 1? Bend over and pull your pants down. Choice 2? Lose $$$. They are no longer making their own video. They are making the sponsor's video.
Another thing is that people are running out of ideas. In the golden age of youtube, people were coming up with new video concepts left and right. The issue is that NOW there aren't really any video concepts that someone hasn't already tried before, so you get a bunch of copycat content creators who are just doing something that isn't new at all. With all the copycats the quality of the videos go down because nobody really wants to put any effort into something that isn't unique anymore.
@@looksirdroids9134 No No, its the content. At least in my own opinion. Creators are uploading more and more short-form content, 10 minute long videos- perhaps its just me and having too much free time, but i feel hard pressed to find an entertaining video, especially since my main genres are multiplayer fps games and gun channels such as Kentucky ballistics, demo ranch, and Edward Sarkissian.
Scotts videos may also be short form, but at least he does enough to be both entertaining and somewhat educational
@@looksirdroids9134 but you’re not wrong about youtube itself diminishing in quality
Awesome. I still have my mossberg chainsaw. Bought it when they came out in like 2013. It was designed as a door breacher. The handle and muzzle brake (stand-off device) are suppose to aid in breaching doors. It was a gimmicky niche answer to problem that really didn’t exist.
I think the muzzle brake is great on mine, but yeah the chainsaw grip is over the top
@@willgund779 I think it’s a great design for what it was intended for, I just don’t think that many ppl have a need for a door breaching shotgun. I like that the handguard has picatinny when the chainsaw grip is removed. For a while I had the chainsaw grip removed, put a Magpul afg on it, and changed the grip out for a birdshead grip. Funny thing is that after I did that, I noticed mossberg teamed up with shockwave, and made basically the exact setup I had changed mine too. Right now I have the the birdshead grip, and ended up putting the chainsaw grip back on. The mossberg is a great platform for experimenting with different setups.

@@diah7130 danah-da na-da na da naaaaaà
I've never seen that shotgun setup before.
Looks like it would help a lot with controlling the recoil and make it easier to rack.
I feel like the chainsaw handle was added due to its cool factor rather than functionality.
@@quangnguyenhorus3752
As someone who has a pump action 12 gauge I can see how this would help controlling recoil and racking the slide from the waist. Which is how you shoot a shorty.
Now with a shotgun with a full stock i'd be worthless.
@@TrulyUnfortunate maybe very niche uses for like a breaching shotgun or maybe cover fire in combat?
but I can't think of any real use for a civilian other than cool factor as a range toy for magdumping 12ga into trash as it really can't be aimed from the hip
Have yall seen the guys shooting birdshead pistol grip shotguns braced against the cheek though, with a good technique you can aim the stubby 12 gauge (red dot sights are good) and not punch yourself in the face. That's the idea anyway , I have only seen it on Ian's channel (forgotten weapons)never shot one myself
Its a door-breacher setup. Thats the only purpose behind the design. I would not recommend for anything besides that. Or range fun, of course
There’s just something so IMMENSELY satisfying about the sound of a pump action shotgun racking a shell that makes my ears go brrrrrrr

Idea guy here. Line up cherry, whipped cream, ice cream, and chocolate syrup. Put a bowl on the other side. A one-shot sundae. Yum!
I could literally fall asleep to the sound of the shotgun in slow motion! It sounds like the thunder from my thunderstorm sound I use to sleep 😂😂
That rig seems perfect for breaching doors.
I’d jam the serrated muzzle into the lock or hinge you want to destroy, and that handle would allow for a lot of controllability in terms of recoil, which is what you want if your in tight spaces blasting doors 👍🏻
Looks like a handy tool.
Having shot a pistol grip shotgun in the past, it’s a handful to say the least! That forward handle would make a world of difference.
The Mossberg Chainsaw was pretty interesting... Decades ago I had the now renamed Mossberg 600 to 500 Cruiser. Pistol grip 18.5"bbl . What was cool was it didn't have a muzzle brake and it'd flip up with enough force to shove the forend back and eject a shell plus ready a fresh one. That's if I held it like it was a handgun. Then I'd simply reach forwards quickly with my left hand and rack it forward chambering a fresh shell. Great fun
Too funny Scott. I needed this this morning. Been a rough week for me and my family... So it was good to get to laugh.
