I listened to it again and I just want to say that EVERY budding and learning guitarist needs to make playing in this style at this level their number #1 priority. This is the basis and foundation for nearly EVERYTHING you will need moving along and forward as a guitarist....There is no doubt about it.
@@kyotosal Rock and Roll book ? No, I'm sorry. There are countless numbers of teachers out there. Most of them are quite good. But you can listen and learn from several great sources right here on RUclips and other places in the internet,..each having their own strengths and values that will fill all the pieces to the puzzle making you a great player. I never had the luxury like today. But I was hard headed anyway and didn't stick with my lesson appointments. I quit after the 3rd lesson. I went on to learn completely self taught. But I do not recommend this grueling process. I've been at this a long, long time and also do 1on 1 lessons with just 12 scheduled students. I don't recommend a book. That is not to say that a book is not of any value but I'm just not familiar with any.
I am a proud owner of one of these guitars but no I disagree every young guitarist should devolp their own style and not copy other people for example Marc bolan Chris rea jj cale wilco Johnson Joe Strummer Steve Jones the pistols the list is endlesd
@@barrypotter5751 In the road and process of learning guitar, the foundation, the building blocks of playing whatever it is that you will gravitate towards can be found in the most abundance with this type of playing. I've never suggested to any student at any time over the last 38 years that a certain genre or certain style is a necessary end goal. As I have not done so here. There are fundamentals to playing the instrument that are both useful and necessary, no matter what direction you end up taking or what style you develop. This type of playing simply contains wider scope of fundamental guitar playing that will be the essential foundation or the core to playing the instrument...A student must first learn the basics or fundamentals before a playing "style" even enters the equation.

I am 68 years old, retired, and have played guitar almost all my life, though not on this level. Maybe somewhat close at some point... years ago, but not like him. Man, who am I kidding... HE IS GOOD! Over the last several years I've noticed a lack of enthusiasm on my part, so I decided to re-invent myself. Going back to my best days when I loved a hollow body guitar. I just bought a BOSS Katana MkII amp, after much decision making, and now saving for a Gretsch guitar. Interesting to note that after much internet searches and videos and then deciding on the guitar I want, this man's videos, and others, pop up, playing the guitar I want. Wish me luck! I don't have any arthritis and my fingers move well! lol.
@@WayneStLouis-cy4ln Have fun with your Gretsch. Which did you get? After returning 6 years ago and many guitar purchases later, I found MY guitar. Gretsch are me. I have a G5422TG and it's everything you are hearing here. Just a delight to play.
Every so often I just watch this performance and I am always amazed with it. If this doesn’t get you rocking nothing will. I know I will never be able to play like it sadly but just enjoy seeing it. Credit to the natural ability and enormous work and dedication that’s gone into getting to this level. Well done!!!!!
Wow! This guy is GREAT!!! So clean, so tasty...just great playing and a real understanding of what a Gretsch can do. Thank you for sharing this, Clint. Outstanding work!
So many videos about swapping out the pickups of these guitars for TV Jones etc. Evidently this guitar can be made to sound amazing with no modifications!
Wow Clint, bring it on back. I love hard rock, some metal , ect. But this is where it all started with the country, rock and blues all combined which formed what was known as Rock n Roll. Made me want to "cut a rug"
