I was catfished. I know they did it for attention. I dated him for a long time and it broke ny heart. All the mind games and lies. Sad thing is i will never know he is. Never asked me for money or anything. He just wanted me to love and adore him without ever meeting. It is hurtful to the person being lied to especially when feelings are involved.

I was catfished too. She never asked for money. She kept on dodging the question if we should video call because our conversation was getting intimate everyday. Unfortunately, a reverse image search linked the photos she used to a beauty queen from Cambodia (in fact, their Miss Universe candidate in 2019). I felt betrayed. The cute girl I was talking wasn’t real.
To this day, she still steals that Cambodian girl’s story and makes it as hers.

I believe most of the people who have been catfished share the satisfying feeling of "somebody needs me, and I am "wanted". I am the hero".

@@socialneuro That is certainly true in my case. Back in 2008 i was a foolish young man with no dating/relationship experience who indulged in playing World of Warcraft. Through that game i met a very kind but troubled young lady who i grew very close to and she said all the things my naive mind wanted to hear, making me feel like i was important to her and her happiness. I was positively giddy when she referred to me as her knight in shining armor (oh gods the cringe...) because i could always make her feel better whenever her mental health was beating her down. This unwillingness to believe that it was all a lie was so powerful i ignored the red flags for way too long. It turns out she kept using pictures of a different girl and her life story was full of lies to make herself seem both better and more tragic/sympathetic than her real life self.
She finally pulled the plug out of our 'relationship' after i pushed for a real life meeting and asked to just stay online friends. I started digging and found the young lady behind the character. When i confronted her with it she ghosted me and i was left without answers.

my wow ex is being catfished too. the catfish is a guy pretending to be an egirl getting full pvp carry. this has been going on for 3 months. I have researched and found out that the ex gulidies of that catfish told me that that person is a guy. i showed the screenshot of this conversation to my ex but he still seems to believe what he wants to believe. still hanging out and simping on that female avatar which is so sad. I really wonder how long this will last. He had been catfished before and this is his second time getting catfished. 1st one lasted for 6 months. I guess ppl never learn@@Troubleshooter11

I’ve been catfished before and the feeling of betrayal was harder to get over than trying to trust that person again. In my case, I believe that they did it for personal gain or social credit, which seemed to be more sinister to me. It takes a strong person to go through that kind of thing. Also, my catfish liked to love bomb me which created this inherent power difference. It is such a shame that when I confronted them, that they continued to want to try love bombing me again. It’s so strange that no more research is out there on this type of behavior because I wish I would know more and understand from their perspective.

It's a manipulative tactic where someone tells you that they are have fallen in love with you, you're their soulmate, there's no one like you. It's done *very* early on in the relationship to "speed things up" between the two of you.

I’ve been catfished by a woman who went to great lengths to make her whole profile/story credible. She edited the pictures she stole from the original profile so that reverse image search by Google wouldn’t reveal the source. She also edited the video stories adding her own voice to them. As a result, this cat fisher seemed legit, her photos and stories looked authentic and original, she had other fake profiles tagging her in their own stories and we had very long phone conversations. Every time I wanted to have FaceTime video call, she always had an excuse to avoid it but I thought it was ok since 99.9% of cat fishers do not have videos with with the same voice heard in voice clips and phone conversations. Now here’s the funny thing: I am not resentful towards her or whatsoever because she made me feel on top of the world. She encouraged me to work out, to believe in myself, and to trust that not only will I recover all I’d lost in my life but that I will rise above it. She said that I should write a book about my life which “is awesome” (in her own words), and when I replied “thanks for the advice but I don’t think I am that special to write a book about my life” she said “it’s ok because even if you wrote that book, it’d be incomplete because your life has not started yet. The best is yet to come!”.
It turns out I was going through depression and even though her identity is a lie, I firmly believe that she helped me go through it. I feel extremely happy now.
At this moment I don’t want to confront her nor report her profile. We had a lot of fun talking endlessly on the phone, talking about movies and books, listening to each other’s playlists on Spotify and talking about life in general.
The other funny thing is that when I saw the original profile; the model she used to fake her identity, I realized that even though she is absolutely gorgeous, I would still never fall in love with her because well… it’s just another person inside! The spell has been forever broken once for all!

I’m desperate to find the identity of someone who has been cereal stocking/catfishing me for many many years. It’s absolutely my broken me and my life inside and out. I second guess everything and everyone. I’m terrified of whom and why and what they get out of it and what their full and final intentions are. How I can avoid this ever happening again, how to figure put who they are and take legal actions to protect myself from every being this SICK PERSON’S victim again. Every time I’m weaker and weaker and clear to just completely giving up. They have all of the advantage, always. I have none. Nothing. And my life OSS so empty and alone, I’m so stupid. Nowadays, most of them wants their victims to hand over cash or personal details that can be used to access their financial accounts. In cases where victims are coaxed into sharing private photos, they can be blackmailed into paying up. But it's very interesting watching your video tackling the possible reasons why they do catfish. This video is an eye opener to a catfish and their victims hoping that they would do a reflection and correct their doings. Thank you so much!

But catfishing does. My husband has been their target for a while. He has cancer and ao he's not all there so these people have taken advantage of his kindness and vulnerability. It has definitely caused a lot of problems between my husband and I and even his mom. This one contacted her and tried to extort her by showing fake pictures of her and allegedly my husband. It destroyed their relationship. I'm trying to help him and warn him and he thinks I'm trying to control him. I wish I could get through to him.

Yeah....the guy I was talking to uploaded pics of himself from 4 and 5 years back. Felt weird to me. Everyone has a phone these days. He was overly sweet and a super writer. Everything I described about myself, he claimed the same for himself. At first it was a delight. But, after the 6th identical copy cat claim from Him, I realized...hold up! He had the same thing to say about himself that I stated about me. By day 3, I realized he still didnt upload any recent pics of himself, as I had requested. I demand respect. So I pushed. So...he finally did. He was dirty looking, an additional 60 lbs heavier, and had scars on his face. Swollen red eyes. Like WOW! I GOT MAD. See...if I hadn't pushed for a REAL photo....i would have went on to develope mental and quite possibly some emotional connections with a 'figment of my own imagination'. The meet up would have been particularly horrific for me. Ending with ME looking like the manipulative arse, when it's him that is manipulative, a liar and selfish. Unbelievable!!!

this video was a great help in understanding a little about myself and who i am and what others who do what i do are like.
i started catfishing at 13, it wasn’t in the sense that most think, i’d grown very fond of “to catch a predator”, and i wanted to catch predators myself on omegle, but i didn’t want to be myself for privacy reasons, i do that for a bit, and move to discord to catch more predators (i thought there’d be more there), i found predators yes, but i’d also found people my age who were complimenting “me” and calling “me” pretty, for context i myself am not an attractive person in any right, but i’d never ever considered catfishing.
anyways, i developed a few friendships as this new “me” and was shocked at how easy it was, i’ve always been antisocial and had issues making friends, but as a pretty girl i was suddenly overcome with them, it got to my head making me realize it wasn’t my mind that was wrong but my body and face.
i gradually stopped catching predators and exclusively catfished, i gained many close friends, talked for months, but eventually i had to break it off, id grown extremely hateful of the real me, and the fake me was too much to keep up with because at the end of the day i went to bed knowing that simply wasn’t me.
i told everyone i was a catfish, not who i was or anything but just that i’d deceived them, and ended all communication without elaborating.
flash forward to know, im 16, and have been catfishing ever since i broke off that communication with the friends, not quite to the extent i did, but still enough, i still feel very insecure of myself and i find i use the catfish alter ego when i’m bored or need a boost, i feel almost addicted, when i see a pretty girl on tiktok or instagram i immediately save and post their pictures, archiving them so i can use them later if need be, it feels compulsionary almost.
all that aside, i plan to major in psychology, and this has again been extremely helpful, thank you again. peace

If really good looking sexy single women would give nice average single men or even ugly men a chance to date, have sex, have a real relationship that’s not based on what a man looks like or his race or age or any other physical attributes, maybe some of us wouldn’t have to resort to catfishing women online on purpose🙄in the first place. It’s not our fault that not all men can live up to women’s expectations of what we should all look like. Women have an unfair advantage with attracting men but it’s never a fair and balanced playing field for most of us 🙂just being honest🙏🌈😇😘hopefully this will change the minds of how most women should be open and accepting of all good honest men no matter what we look like❤🌈🙏only this type of understanding will reduce the need to catfish anyone in the first place🫠
