- Welcome to Burghley House in Stamford, Lincolnshire, about a 50 minute drive from our Hideaway Cottage, and one of my favourite places to visit.
Burghley is a palatial Elizabethan prodigy house, it was built by William Cecil, 1st Lord Burghley and Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth l.
Walk with me through the State Rooms and see it’s historic collections of paintings, ceramics and works of art.
Then I’ll take you into The Park & Gardens at Burghley, designed by the famous Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.
A few scenes from Pride and Prejudice (2005) were filmed at Burghley, it was the setting of Rosings Park, Lady Catherine de Bourgh home. Burghley has also featured in The Da Vinci Code (2006) and The Crown (2016) amongst other TV and film.
I hope you’ll enjoy this lovely warm October day exploring the Burghley estate with me xx

Hello dear friends 👋 Sincere apologies for being away for so long! I’ve been working full time and life has seemed too busy, so much so that I’ve just not had time to even log on to my RUclips channel, I hope you’ll forgive me…🙏 we actually managed to have a rare day off recently, the weather forecast was so good and we usually visit Burghley house in October 🍂🍁 so it was the perfect day to grab my phone and take you along too. I hope you enjoy looking around England’s greatest Elizabethan House! Visiting Burghley is my perfect day out, the house, the gardens, and there’s a gorgeous gift shop too (and food and cream teas haha) so please sit back and immerse yourself in the history, or do as I do and imagine bumping into Mr Darcey 😂
Lots of love to you all, Angela x x

Oh, I’m so glad you are ok. Another lovely video! What a stunning palace. The music was beautiful and perfect for each scene. Can you imagine all the upkeep on a house like that? The copper was so shiny in the kitchen and I’m sure every table was dusted! The gardens were gorgeous too. Thank you for taking us along, especially with your busy schedule. It was such a treat!
Thank you so much! Such a lovely message, hugely appreciated, especially your patience in my very slow response! And I completely agree, I don’t envy the cleaning, I can barely keep on top of our little cottage 😂

Absolutely fascinating! What an incredible work of art this house is. I always wish I could time travel to see people living in these estates - what they wore, what they did with their time, etc. Thank you so much for the incredible tour!
P.S. Great filming, editing and choice of music!
Hi Heather! Goodness I am so so behind on my RUclips messages, apologies. YES! I totally agree, I love to imagine all the big dresses and carriages etc, I love Philippa Gregory novels for this very reason, I’d highly recommend them for transporting you back in time! Xx
