This came at a really good time. I have been putting Sims in Newcrest and they needed a good gym. I hadn't liked any I had seen. Also, I needed to use the 20x40 lot. This was perfect. Behind the trees at the back, I put in a basketball court. And I moved two of the boxing things upstairs (between the treadmills) and deleted the third. Then I used that room for yoga mats. You gave me so many good ideas!
I know it sounds really basic, but I’d like a tutorial on how to navigate the sims 3 camera and the sims 4 camera in Sims 4, and what each are used for. I’ve played Sims for years, and the cameras still baffle me.
I rely heavily on the mouse wheel personally. Scroll in and out to zoom in and out, hold down to move the mouse and change the angle. I have it set to move the camera when I move the mouse to the side of the screen though, which I gather is an unpopular preference. Haha
You should make a save file where you renovate each world with the pack it came with and the base game. eg. you renovate San Myshuno only using city living and base game.

I know nothing about games, and I'm CONVINCED it's a bug. I'm not even sure if it stays when you upload it to the gallery and that kinda stuff... it's such an odd workaround, there's no way it's intended. fence posts should just work how they did in ts3 :(

That's a pretty nice gym. As a pizza lover I used your Pizza restaurant in my Legacy save (Light legacy [Start on an empty 50x50 lot with 1800 simoleans, no scorekeeping, must last 10 generations as usual, same wedding rules], Normal Life Span) That tip with using control to delete walls is a must for deleting walls in The Sims 1. I'm happy that they still have that functionality from the first game. I struggled so hard building a stairway with a 180 degree turn and plopping it into my house because of wall intersections, so deleting wall segments is better than just deleting an entire room (for me at least) And, yeah, Sims grabbing water is pretty annoying, since it overrides any other need based autonomy (even if Hunger is like 90% filled or Higher). It's why I tend to go with a dishwasher over a kitchen sink in my kitchens. I also lockdown my Sims' computers for guests in my residential lots.
When I put a receptionist desk in, I either place down that open journal thing in front of the chair rather than a computer, or I place a chair that doesn't slot into the surface that the computer is on. Sims and water. Ah... I see it as EA trying to do some healthy lifestyle promoting to kids for parents who question the game. Drink eight glasses of water a day to keep healthy! It reminds me also of how riding bikes gets a Sim's fun up so fast. Ride a bike for the environment, your health and for the funs! Gordon's little friend, huh? We need wedding gnomes. Really. Also, awesome tip on the fences! I hope I remember that. My memory sucks with that sort of stuff. X(

Love these vids. Always been a huge sims fan and I have the majority of expansions/game packs but only play every so often. You inspired me to get back into it this weekend and take a similar approach with making all the spots in Newport myself!
It’s so hard for me to find good community lots on the gallery because people seem to think they need to be super complex and have tons of landscape or items or weird floor plans and take up the entire lot. Like stop. Give me a single story casual looking gym. It doesn’t need to be 4 stories with a huge pool and full basketball court.
You should make a fancy club house that has an in-door gym, in-door yoga/dancing room, ladies' changing room with lockers, showers/toilets and ladies' sauna and then men's changing room with lockers, showers/toilets and men's sauna, outside pool, outside jacuzzi, outside playground for kids and outside dining (grill). Pool, jacuzzi and outside dining should be having a lake view. I think it would be super cool.
Simsie you should make a TikTok/short about using sims 3 camera and holding control can change your perspective in live/build mode. Because I didn’t play the sims 3 I never knew about that and it took so long for me to figure out. It’s a super useful feature that a lot of newer sims players probably don’t know about.
i wish simsie would do a project like this without worrying about pack limitations. i want to see what newcrest would look like if she just made literally whatever
Fun fact: there's a hidden thirst 'need' (it's not actually a need but a buff that gets applied) and that's why sims drink so much water. Also, you should definitely make a short about that fence trick. It's super cool and makes the fences look so much better!
I think it'd be so fun to see you use a base game shell, and then make different versions of that shell with different relevant packs. Like this base game gym, you could reno it using spa day, and then another version with fitness stuff. 3 gyms 1 shell, if you will.

I'm always looking for save files with more "pack restricted" worlds. Like in the base game worlds you only use base game, in brindleton bay you use base game and cats & dogs etc. It would be amazing if you made one of those!🙏

As someone who goes to the gym I can tell you did a good job. I would make the gym a little big bigger since having to look into all that space helps with training. Since there are no dumbells and barbells in The Sims 4 I can't blame you for not placing them. You could add them as decoration by combining hidden objects together though, but that's just an afterthought. Some gyms have pools, others don't. The one I go to has both a sauna and a tenniscourt, but unfortunately the former isn't basegame and the latter unavailable.
it took me, a non-american, an embarassingly long time to figure out the whole water fountain thing i kept thinking: "but we have fountains, kayla what do you MEAN?" and then the slow realization you wouldn't drink from that kind of fountain
I'd love to see you review Zerbu's Turbo Careers mod and build Base Game and Get to Work only lots for the careers 😍 To this day my favorite mod. And thanks to this mod, Get to Work is still my favorite pack as well 💕 They get way too little credit imo.

Talking about Gyms, I once was in one ... my Company bought the building and renovated it for their Purpose. But, the Gym was next to a Cookie-Factory. And there was a Factory-Shop, we have such things in Germany, most of us know that you can buy the best Cookies to much lower prices at these Shops. Only downside they don't look as good, as those they sell in the Supermarkets. The smell from the Factory's Cookies went through the open Windows into that former Gym and I didn't even wonder why that Gym went bancrupt. Since than I think about the idea to build a Gym that is located in a former Cookie-Factory...

I usually feel like the camera is always too close or too far away. That took some getting used to for me.

Sims 3 camera works way better when you have a mouse and use the wheel on it! Sims 4 camera is easier for laptop imo

U ended up building my base game gym as a refurbished townhouse and I think it worked out really well! I have the same problem with community lots but I think you did an amazing job as always
