My first date was in 1976 and we went to Belmont Park. I won dayglo posters at a dart game booth and we rode the Big Dipper. It's NOT made for folks with long legs. We rode in that big spinning barrel thing where centrifugal force glued you to the walls. I don't recall those cars but I bet they didn't run at night. Heck, half the park seemed unused and closed then. The midway type games especially. It was fun though. I guess you DO always remember.
My kids love that roller coaster. Thank goodness is was restored and saved from demolition. Generations of San Diegans have enjoyed it.
We just rode this iconic roller coaster 🎢 just a couple of days ago and it is 2024 and its still a blast to ride 😎🎢👍

Great coaster. Still remember first time seeing it in the distance lit up from Sea World’s Sky Tower
By this year the coaster was already 50 years old. Though it was severely damage by a fire in 1955, and almost got demolished by the city.
Hey, that was my Econ teacher from Grossmont College and it was filmed in 1976, the first year I rode that coaster, and the year it closed down.
This would've been around the time that I went to Belmont Park with the neighbors and the mom's wig fell off on the Coaster.
Love that coaster!
This is the year I was born LoL
Easily one of the best roller coasters ever made!
It's an OG and still is really good today because I went on it today
Looks like the grizzly at great America!!!!
