Hsieh is one of my FAV players of all-time. She's first and foremost a WIZARD with racquet and second she's just so freaking funny and charming. This is a great story of her taking 18 months off and coming back in a great headspace to dominate. Special shoutout to Naomi O who started this real push for mental health in the sport - sorry the sport turned on her, but her sacrifice has created some really amazing storylines across the last few years! Congrats Hsieh and Wang!!!!

@@tootspogsforever5590 Well, that’s a rumor. Su-Wei said she got injured in 2019,and she kept this situation for 2 years. After 2021 WTA finals, she decided to take a break and got a recovery because she also wanted to play singles . She only posted that on her Facebook in Chinese ,and that’s why there are so many people think Su-wei was pregnant.

Are you kidding me? Did you watched the Whole Final match? Qtr or Semi matches? All theirs opponents were going after Wang at least 80% even baseline rallies they went right at Wang, BUT Hsieh with her experience known how to pressed them making them nervous uncomfortable either at net or baseline!! She can either cross or make them play down the line shots from either side ( not favored with most of WTA players) She is just like Magician! That’s why she won 5 GS double Title with 4 different partners even made Miracle this time by Carry Wang whose best previous result at GS are US:1Rd, AS:1Rd

But yes in deed! Wang did just improved her level on time at TB of 2nd Set, because she started to hitting the ball more relaxing and convincingly, Most theirs opponents balls are after Wang, if she still Made so many unforced errors like first 2 sets, they couldn’t win this FO title.

watching Hsieh Su-Wei, and being a fan and following her career for over 16 years, is like watching a feel good K drama. You KNOWWWW theres gonna be drama, ups and downs, but after 16 episodes like in a normal k drama (this case, 16 years in tennis career), of COURSE she was gonna end the 16th year with a HAPPY ending, and a well deserved slam. I am Greek, but if Hsieh su-wei played Maria Sakarri.....id probably be the ONLY GREEK in the world who would still be cheering for this altruistic Taiwanese loveable personality

    Translation for Chinese portion:
R: Firstly, congratulations to the two of you. At the point of victory, us (the audience) were more excited, you guys were pretty calm. Of course, Su-wei has won 5 times before so she would be more experienced, but for Xinyu it's your first time. Why were you so calm? Is it due to your personality? Could you describe your feelings when you knew you won?
XY: At that moment, it felt like my mind was still in match-mode. Towards the end, both of us were pretty intense, so at the moment we did not react to the win immediately. So it wasn't the case where we would have gone like "Wow"
SW: Sorry, the ball I hit (at match point) was not heavy enough so it made us unsure if she was going to save the ball 😂😂 I was like "Oh no she's running she's running (to save the ball)"
R: Secondly I would like to ask Xinyu, I'm not sure if I had observed correctly and please correct me if I'm wrong, but it felt like in the first set you were making more errors but in the second set tiebreak towards the end of the third set you were playing like crazy, your errors were almost non-existent. How did you adjust yourself to play better and better?
XY: At the start of the match, I felt like the opponents were giving a lot of pressure at the net, and also both of them who were left-handed were serving very well, so it made me feel like the space on court that I was able to target was very small. I could only aim for those few areas. But suddenly in the second set at one of the points, I turned to Su-wei and told her "I'm going to hit down the line, get ready."
SW: Omg finally 😭😭😭 she's going to hit down the line, my heart is crying 😂😂
XY: Because before that point I was still unsure whether I should hit down the line, so after I actually went down the line the opponents didn't react. After that moment I felt like "Wow.. my target (court) became so much bigger. Now I can hit anywhere"
SW: As you guys know her ball-striking is really powerful, and one of the girls was just hanging around at the center of the net. So I was thinking if I should tell her to hit down the line. But then I thought "Forget it, she should just do whatever she wants." Then when she finally told me that she was going to do it, it felt like she finally heard my inner thoughts.
    XY: Finally saw the light
R: You should have just told her to do it though
SW: Nah, she's her own person, she knows how to play and I would rather let her do what she wants. As long as she's happy it doesn't matter
XY: *Jokingly* If she had told me to hit down the line and I made the error, I would've asked her "why did you make me hit down the line?"😂
SW: So it's better to let her do what she wants

    • @cc4454
      @cc4454 Год назад +3

R: In the second set, I saw that Xinyu was still making some errors here and there, and Su-wei was constantly rubbing Xinyu's shoulders. Did Su-wei give any words of encouragement to Xinyu?
SW: I just told her to keep smiling, smile more and then naturally you'll start to play better. So it doesn't matter, because in any match there's always a loser and winner, maybe sometimes we don't play well, for example maybe today I didn't tie my hair properly, it's affecting me and I lost my focus. So these kind of things will affect the match. And sometimes you don't know if your partner is facing any kind of problem, for me there are also moments where I don't play well and she doesn't blame me. So I think it's a matter of supporting each other, it doesn't matter if we're losing, once we manage to find our groove in the match I know we're going in the right direction.
R: So Xinyu it's your first time lifting a grand slam trophy, after you lifted the trophy, what were your feelings? Were these feelings the same as how you thought it would be in your mind?
XY: Very heavy/stoic. We almost couldn't lift the trophy because it was so heavy.
SW: When I was holding it myself I told her "Quick come and save me!!!! It's so heavy!"
XY: Like the weight of the trophy, it represents the result of the "happy tennis" that we were able to deliver these 2 weeks.
R: For the grass season will you still be continuing to pair with Su-wei?
SW: Not for the grass season because I had already arranged with Barbora. She was supposed to play RG with me but she suddenly decided to retire after US Open, so we arranged to play Wimbledon together. Then I was thinking whether to play in RG, so when my dad heard I was not going to play he was speechless. So I decided that instead of staying at home, it's better to go and hit some balls (ie. to play RG). So if there's a chance let's pair together again next time 😉😉
      XY: No problem.
SW: You go and play some singles first 😉
XY: Yes i'll go do some running. 😂

my favourite recent pairing by far! su-wei is an all time great (likely the best doubles-specific player of this generation) and seeing her famous positivity on court rub off on xinyu has been a delight to watch. in some of their earlier matches i noticed xinyu seeming frustrated with herself after making errors and su-wei always kept a positive attitude with her, always smiling and keeping great body language, and in their last matches at RG i noticed that xinyu seemed so positive - always smiling! even after making mistakes or losing a point she always found a way to smile and reset and i think its so great to see that a veteren like su-wei has had such a great influence on a young player like xinyu! congratulations girls! hope to see them together more in future tournaments - especially wimbledon!!

There are too many questions, simply translate the first few questions FYI😊
      --
He’s asking Wang why she is so calm when the winning moment comes since she has not that many experiences of winning the title compared with Hsieh? Wang says she hasn’t reacted the victory yet since the game is so intense at the moment and Hsieh says her shot seems not powerful enough so the game looks undecided, they are nervous about if that one will be saved by their opponents or not.
Second question is about how Wang adjusts herself to play better than the first set.
She says at beginning the opponent gave lots of pressure in front of the net and also the serves, she temporary can’t find her attack target. At 2nd set, she tries to attack in straight line (Hsieh says 🤭finally! she’s going to attack straight, I’m gonna cry😭😭😭) Hsieh says she didn’t want to interfere with Wang's pace, and she wants her to play her game and feels happy.😂😄😃
Q3, he asks Hsieh how to cheer Wang while she had lots of mistakes during 2nd set? Hsieh says she just wants her to be happy, more smiles, so that she can play better! Try their best no matter the result, win or failure, it’s normal to have different states in each game, just support each other as they can!
Q4, for Wang, the first time wining the grand slam, how do you feel?
The trophy is so heavy, we both barely can hold it. Hsieh says she’s calling for help ”come to save me! can’t hold it anymore😂” Wang says the weight of the trophy is like what it means to her.
It’s also the result of “happy tennis” of this two weeks.
The other questions are talking about the “happy tennis” and the time they spent and enjoyed together these days.
It seems they do enjoy the game and the cooperation this time❤❤❤😊
