Hsieh is one of a kind.
No one can beat Hsiesh like this. Serena is the queen of tennis for a reason. Hsiesh is said to be the most creative player but Serena has more variety and style. Here, Serena played Hsiesh's game. How she changed the movement and the entire game is extraordinary. You gotta give it to Serena. Hate her or love her, it cannot change her enormous talent and contribution to the world of tennis.
Bit of an exaggeration. Hsieh is a veteran and has only been 'noticed' in the last 2 years
@@aaronwilkins1843 I noticed on Wiki that Hsiesh has a lot of wins to her name. Do women get credit on the tour record for ITF result? I know on the men's side, players do not get credit for Challenger wins.

Come on, Hsieh is tricky thanks to her to ability to hit the ball early after the bounce but she is too slow to counter players who come to play fast and high balls: watch how she was crushed by Sarapova at French Open in 2013 or by Elise Mertens last year at Rabat. Hsieh's game is monotonous: the only balls that get out off her racket are flat hit balls. That is the reason why she is so low ranked.

The women’s game has been very one dimensional in the past decade. She is a breath of fresh air. I truly hope newer talent can take not.
This match shows Serena has more intelligence and nuance to her game than she's given credit for. She was able to change spins and adapt to Hsieh's game

This match shows the difference between the elite and the simply good ones. Serena and Sharapova dispatched Su. They showed great anticipation, awareness and tactical nous against the trickiest tennis player in WTA. All others simply try to power past Su, which is too one-dimensional a strategy and one Su has faced her entire career.
Bing n that’s why they get beat but Serena problem solved really well
Willaims kept Hsien back from the net, and eliminated the best part of Hsien's game.
Hsieh playing well could put up a fight. She was super nervous for this match and made a lot of uncharacteristic errors.
And it was three years ago lol

While the two players cannot be more different, Serena really showed why she was the GOAT. Instead of trying to overpower Hsieh, she used a lot of touch and angles. Good that Hsieh is still playing doubles. So wonderful to watch.

@@Rick-tf4dl Maybe you're blind because notice Hsieh usually is able to predict where the ball is going but Serena was able to confuse her by doing the 2-3 punch. I guess you're not really an actual Tennis fan.
This really highlights not only Serena's excellent technique, but also her supreme athleticism. No matter the angle or length thrown at her, she dealt well with all because her excellent cardio and mobility allowed her to. I'm sure most players know what to do, but just can't make it happen. With Serena, even when stretched out wide or made to scramble, she got to the ball with enough time to get ready, get into position and choose where to hit to. Su Wei's only effective against those who don't have the top tier athleticism, mobility and technique Serena's got. Plus Serena's dealt with a lot more variety and talen than Su Wei has, so this kind of tennis isn't anything new for her to deal with.

Su-wei hasn't found her single game at this point. From 2018 she started giving top players go runs out even beat them sometimes.
Here Serena demonstrates how you beat a pusher. She stays really aggressive forces the pusher(Wei)in difficult shot situations. She keeps hitting hard and deep shots at Wei to keep Wei from throwing her best junk at Serena. Serena puts away all Wei's short balls.
Serena also read Su Wei's chops and slices well. Soon as HSW started to downswing for the chop Serena was moving up to the net.
@@K4R3N Another good point. Coming from a 3.5 player I think all 3.5 level singles players should watch this video to combat those pesky pushers. I see so many at 3.5.

Hsieh dazzles you when she plays everybody..................but Serena. Serena walks through her and nullifies the antics.
Sharapova was also able to dictate in her matches against Hsieh. Hsieh didn't stand a chance in their French Open 2013 match.

@FocusFanatic This type of game today will make you a champ in doubles but not singles. Other WTA players are both strong, fast and have good strategies.

Serena came into tennis at a time where the women were mainly pushers and her power was well above theirs and she overwhelmed them. This isnt to say she doesn't have other skills and just power, but power is what has made her game stand out for so long and has gotten her over the hump until the last few years where she has been getting beat by who?
ANSWER ( in case it beyond your reasoning) : ladies with power and movement. Serena isnt used to opponents treating her shots like she has done to others for so long. Andreescu and Osaka represent the new group of female tennis players that Serena will have a hard time with.

Look I don't even like Serena but got to give her credit for beating a tricky junk baller...and it's not just by power as Hsieh has beaten other power players with her usual tricks.
One thing I did notice is Serena wouldn't let herself get lured in with the short ball if she could help it thus not giving Hsieh a target to pass or lob.

This game shows why Serena is the greatest. Her versatility and tenacity. She believes she can and she is fearless of no one.
Serena did not let Hsieh move her around like a little girl. She owned and dominated. Both of them made errors and and this is not a matter of Hsieh being Inexperienced. This is a game to prove that Serena is the most dominant factor in Tennis both male and female. And for her to be doing this at this level at almost 40 years is something that science should explain. Serena is a force not just a player
