Here's the thing that I think a lot of people don't understand: I don't care about calculators. Not at all. But I experience joy watching/listening to someone who's passionate about calculators. Replace "calculators" with just about anything and that's kind of the whole millennial generation, isn't it? Great job, Clint. Your videos are excellent.
I agree. As a collector of things too I really like seeing people find things for their own collection. I really like listening to to people talk about things they collect too, even if I don't have a specific interest in them. I was also excited for his brother getting those cameras.
I collect Hawkman Comics. I have for a few years now. I get so excited when I find one I don't have. I love watching Clint get so excited finding things because I know that feeling so well.
Even when it's things I don't really care about like clocks or calculators, your enthusiasm makes it all worth watching. Glad to see you happy man. Keep up the good work.
This was a pretty cool haul actually. I really dig the clock, the woodgrain has me salivating a bit. Love these videos, they've inspired me to start checking out thrift stores when I can.
I bought a Robosapien for my boyfriend at Christmas many years ago, we call him Elvis because of his hip movements he makes during the dance program; and yes I am talking about the Robosapien :)
Yes because of electrical safety laws they can't sell electrical goods unless they are tested by an electrician. Which really sucks, I do pick up some nice boardgames from time to time.
+Mark Lyne my entire current collection of media and books is a mixture of charity shops and CEX. I did find some amazing non-electronic stuff too, like a Cartman bobblehead, and I've seen all kinds of crazy stuff for sale in them, like a bass guitar (!), an expensive telescope (!!) and a drum kit (!!!) They're just as amazing as Goodwill, if not more.
I've gone into charity shops from time to time and You sometimes find some rare stuff esp board games and even 1st ed book.....but there is a big but.....I have noticed quite a lot of charity shops now research the stuff they are given and now charge collectors prices for things. I saw a old 1980's Judge Dredd board game - naturally I was drawn to it and then saw the price they wanted £70!!!! with half the pieces missing lol.yet the price of a complete game ranges from £1.25 to £40 - yet there were other complete 'old games' which cost no where near as much - So I spoke to a friend who then informed me they look at the rarity of the item on ebay and amazon and then bump up the price beyond the actual rarity price. But this isn't all Charity Shops but it's a growing problem.- but when you fine something rare.......aaaaahhhh the feeling of pride hahahaha
And then there's those charity shops that will sell you a sealed copy of Stunt Car Racer for the C64 for 0.99 because they don't know what it is... And that's why I prefer smaller, local charity shops, as opposed to 'chain' ones like Oxfam or Heart Foundation.
That's why I said some but not all charity shops lol - I agree that the local smaller ones are a treasure trove but sadly in my area it's the big 'chain' ones :( but when I go traveling I do hit the local charity shops lol
oh man I gotta find myself one of those intellivision flashback systems, the intellivision was the first console my family bought back in the day and I just loved that thing. so many fond memories
+John Riggs: RIGG'd Games Try yard sales and flea markets as well if those are allowed where you are. You'd be surprised what you might find. Went to one last week and got a DSi, 5 games, and a case with the adapter for $3. Seriously. o-o And that was from yard sale 'hopping' for about a month.
7:30 Ooo, that player has an automatic record changer. I still use an old GE digital clock radio from the 80s. Works fine, so no need to replace it. Oh cool old cameras. I have a Yashica TLR 635 120mm (I think? I am not at home at the moment so cannot check). It needs some cleaning though to be useful, it is a bit dirty.
OMG a new THRIFTS!!!! Because of this series we started hitting Goodwills and thrift stores a couple months back. Now we go each week. So fun. And I used to make picture frames when I was 17.
[Chris] Sometimes I feel like there is a Secret Santa traveling about 15 minutes ahead of you during your thrifting endeavors that just tosses gems all over the place. It is always fun to see your finds!
I swear, South Carolina must have some crazy good shit, because one state over here in Georgia the Goodwills and yard sales are bone dry. I went up and down almost the whole of I-75 one weekend and I hardly found anything.
These videos make me feel so sad but I can't stop watching them. Somehow it makes me happy in the same time that you keep finding all this cool gizmos. Greetings from Europe!
So glad you bought that clock. I'd love to see one like that around here. The last few 80's wood grain pieces I've seen were sadly broken. The heyday of thrifting may be over. Your videos are endlessly entertaining, thanks!
"Cassette Shows" just set off a nuclear explosion of nostalgia in my head, my sister and I used to have a stack of tapes we recorded when we were really young of us doing the crappiest skits known to man. It was heavily ripped off of the Muppet Show, and really was just a garbled mess of Weird Al and Monty Python jokes, but we had a blast playing with our tape recorder, and then playing it back to hear our voices. The worst of the lot would have been the Christmas carol tapes, but my mom would never let me get rid of them, and keeps playing them every year. Good memories!
Sweet thrifting action as usual! Funny you mentioned this when you found that recorder; I used to make my own "radio" shows on cassette tape too, with a Radioshack tape player, a big midi keyboard, and all sound effects ad-libbed.
You should have got the Red Baron game and checked for more pizza coupons. Also, how did kid desk teach you your first curse word, and is the GE clock your new alarm clock?
+ducttapeanddreams He had such a perfect opportunity to plug in his older video although let's face it. Those of us who watch his thrift videos have probably seen every single other video he put out.
The thrift stores you have in the U.S are so cool! In Estonia, where im from, there are some recycling centers.(you basically take the stuff you don't need, but maybe some other person needs to that place) I once looked around, and the store was filled only with some weird clothes and dishes from the Soviet union times.
Thanks for this series. I live in a major city, where there are very few flea markets & no Goodwills. Everything here is overpriced anyway, so it's never a good idea to go thrifting. That's why I love this series, I can experience thrifting in some way. Keep on thriftin' !
always stoked to see you find cool stuff at the local goodwills around town because whenever I go in them (especially your current favorite one) I can never find anything worthwhile
Love seeing what you get! Always interesting just seeing what you find, even if you never buy. Got a few places in my home town, guess you could call them "junk shops" more then a goodwill. Really wish this one guy was open more then two days a week. Walking into the place is like walking into a time traveler's closet. And yet even in the most obscure places of thrift shopping, you always find something for that collection. Walk into the corner of an old record store and BLAM! Some old laser disk you been looking for. Love this stuff :)
3:37 I had that same laptop when I was little, except it was pink. It stopped working so I took it apart, and it turned out to be weighted with giant piece of rusty iron.
Thanks again, sir! Another awesome video to quench that thrifty need to seek some awesomeness at awesome prices. This channeI aIone is one of the best reasons why I enjoy being on RUclips! Been a very happy subscriber since 2012! Your videos never Iet me down. : )
I'd love to see a episode on the Intellivision flashback, I know it's just intellivions games which we can find somewhere else, but would still love a episode on the machine and the games on it in general.
Awesome finds as usual :) ... love that clock ... i used to have something similar in our main room as a kid. Gutted you never showed my Sims 2 limited edition tin :'(
That BMW -Radio was an awesome find! It is one of the very early navigation systems. You could also watch TV on it! It was built in the high class 7 Series cars in the early 90s.
11:00 about 6 months ago I found the original 1992-93 version of Myst that had requirements Windows 3.0 or better with no special stickers except maybe "MPC" for $3.00, still have it. Thought about selling it but never got around to it.
I use to go to all the Goodwill's in my area. Now one Goodwill has become the "Goodwill Superstore" and has it's own computer store which from time to time has some pretty nice stuff for cheap. Now I do not even bother going to any other Goodwill.
How could you pass up that regal portrait of Lord Canada Goose at 0:31? He probably had to pose for hours like that for the artist to get every detail just so.
3:45 that was a t.v radio i have one in my car but there are illegal in most states in america because people would try to watch old episodes of Law & Order while driving
That Kid Desk thing reminds me of the Packard Bell Navigator software that came with my first Windows 3.11 PC designed as a graphical user interface on top of the graphical user interface. I remember there being a kid's bedroom for the kids, and an office for the adults, and some kinda hallway between the two or something? I should see if I still have the original software on disk somewhere to install on my DOSBox's Win3.11 install.
Looking at that box camera reminded me of the one I have (though yours looks to be in better shape). I inherited it from my dad back in the mid-70s; my mom told he he had it when he was a kid. Mind you, he was born in 1929 and his family lived in a log cabin, so the camera was probably from the 20s at least.
i've worked in a 2nd hand store for 4 days now (Every Friday and Monday)in the electronics testing section. An so far i've seen A Comptometer mechanical calculator from the late 1910/early 20's, An MSX PC in box, An Acorn Electron with Cartrige adapter (without cables) and 2 Phillips CDI's (they are a little more common here in The Nethrlands)
That BMW Professional audio system does not have a touch screen. It does have a nice colour screen, navigation and stuff like that, which was pretty nice for the mid (and late) 90's.
Red Barron! That was the first game I EVER bought for my first PC when I was about 8 years old. I had a 33MHz 486 that my parents bought from a local used "business machines" store. I currently have Dosbox up and running with a full installation of Windows 3.1 and all of the games and software I had as a kid, but it's still not the same. I've been hitting up the local Goodwill's but haven't been able to find any PC's older than 2004. I really want to recreate my first PC.
I don't know if you have tried looking at half priced books but there are good picks at the store in Arlington Heights!!! They have a lot of good games as well as of course books
I have a GE split flap clock radio with the same wood grain aesthetic as yours, though I bought it at a garage sale for a dollar rather than Goodwill. Best dollar I ever spent, if I say so myself!
I KNEW IT!!!! its because ppl like you in the comments and this dude snaggin all the cool stuff away from me at these stores. It's time to get some insiders at these GoodWill stores
None of the Goodwills in my city (of which there are 6) put any video games, computers or electronics out. :"( The best I can browse are old waffle makers... I have to figure out what they're doing with all of it, though I wouldn't be surprised if they're just trashing most of it.
+Mobliz They have an online auction outlet(shopgoodwill.com), probably all the good stuff from those stores is getting chucked on that. Unless you're really lucky, and they're saving back to open up a gaming/electronic dedicated store, which they've done in a few regions.
That GE clock appears to be refurbished; note how the clock hands and clock face appear to use a more modern type of material than the original would have. Regardless, I adore its wood-grain finish. I adore that electronic calculator, too; it just makes me bubble all over. And, yes - cash registers ftw! Major cool. Very entertaining video; thanks for the upload. :-)
I love going to Thrift stores and seeing if there is anything I can flip on ebay. Now days its harder to do. Seems like goodwill has a better idea of what the internet is. +Lazy Game Reviews love the LGR Thrifts keep em up.
Do any of the Goodwill's that you visit have color codded price tags? The ones out here (WA) use colored tags. Everyday at least one of the colors is 50% off. So, say Saturday it's 50% blue tags. Everything with a blue tag (regardless of the item) is half off.
I'm really surprised you don't drive a well maintained car from the 80s with stylish wood paneling...
Here's the thing that I think a lot of people don't understand:
I don't care about calculators. Not at all. But I experience joy watching/listening to someone who's passionate about calculators. Replace "calculators" with just about anything and that's kind of the whole millennial generation, isn't it?
Great job, Clint. Your videos are excellent.
I agree. :)
Seeing someone score something rare/valuable/neat for their hobby gives a palpable contact high of sorts. Vicarious.
I agree. As a collector of things too I really like seeing people find things for their own collection. I really like listening to to people talk about things they collect too, even if I don't have a specific interest in them. I was also excited for his brother getting those cameras.
Hey, you have your opinion, man. Good for you.
I collect Hawkman Comics. I have for a few years now. I get so excited when I find one I don't have. I love watching Clint get so excited finding things because I know that feeling so well.
"i gotta do a video on Kid Desk"
*searches on RUclips, video doesn't exist*
Sigh
sofie dossi
Just did the same thing in 2020!
@@Hicks206 As did I. Happy 5 year video anniversary as well lol.
Exactly what I did...
I must know what word it was.
"Interactive human body! Interactive... all sorts of things you can stick into these." - LGR, 2015
Giggity.
whoever buys that cpr dummy is not buying it to practice cpr
agreed..... they are gonna use it to recreate "The Bends" by Radiohead!
Whenever I feel stressed out i re-watch all the thrift episodes and it makes my day so much better :)
this is without a doubt my favourite series of yours, and probably my favourite series on RUclips.
Even when it's things I don't really care about like clocks or calculators, your enthusiasm makes it all worth watching. Glad to see you happy man. Keep up the good work.
Does the Bethesda horse game come with horse armour DLC?
hahahaha nice one
This was a pretty cool haul actually. I really dig the clock, the woodgrain has me salivating a bit. Love these videos, they've inspired me to start checking out thrift stores when I can.
Currently binge watching the entire thrift series as I've been unable to sleep lately due to anxiety, really calming. Thanks for your content.
That cpr doll looks like that one radiohead cover
Haha, "The Bends!" It kinda does.
good I wasnt the only one that thought that
Would be interesting to see a video on your vintage calculator collection.
Hell yeah, Thrifts!
should have gotten that cpr dummy. could have recreated the album cover of The Bends by Radiohead
I bought a Robosapien for my boyfriend at Christmas many years ago, we call him Elvis because of his hip movements he makes during the dance program; and yes I am talking about the Robosapien :)
Bethesda made a horse game????
*MIND=BLOWN*
Skyrim is pretty much a horse game
King's Quest 7 is going to Pushing Up Roses, isn't it?
+Gena Trius Aww... I hope it does. : )
THAT IS CUTE
I wish we had Thrift stores in the UK - Charity shops are not the same lol

5:08 - Robosapien! I totally had one as a kid! Wanted to get my hands on a Roboraptor, but never did...
I had a roboreptile, my dude! I think its still somewhere in my parents house or something
Nice! I wish my Goodwill ever had games and systems. We're lucky to get a Madden for Xbox every once in a while.
+John Riggs: RIGG'd Games In Seattle? You must be doing it wrong! :P
I actually picked up a PS3 slim model with two controllers and two games for $25 at my Goodwill. I sold it for $100 to a friend... :-)
I have one awful thrift store that prices all their games at $8... A shitty outdated sports game? $8. Bratz? $8. Never any good games either.
7:30 Ooo, that player has an automatic record changer.
I still use an old GE digital clock radio from the 80s. Works fine, so no need to replace it.

DROOLING over those cameras!! What an amazing birthday present! Your brother aught to be eternally grateful for such a considerate gift!! D:

Thrift videos always makes my day. I wish I had stores like that here. Please keep making these. Thank you.
8:55 I had one of those as a kid. Was a clock and a radio, and made for a great decorations on my desk.
Yay my picture made it to the video! Life long thrifter here. In case you're wondering, my pic is the one with the Enterprise and the Genesis 3.
So glad you bought that clock. I'd love to see one like that around here. The last few 80's wood grain pieces I've seen were sadly broken. The heyday of thrifting may be over. Your videos are endlessly entertaining, thanks!

I'm drooling over those old cameras. I am absolutely obsessed with them! Your brother is super lucky to get those!

Oh my god, I'm so happy that a new LGR - Thrift is out! It's a great pre-flea market show, so i get in the mood :D

Thanks for this series. I live in a major city, where there are very few flea markets & no Goodwills. Everything here is overpriced anyway, so it's never a good idea to go thrifting. That's why I love this series, I can experience thrifting in some way. Keep on thriftin' !
Do you always go pantless when walking through nature LGR?
Jonathan Hughes guess it was on his land, so it's no problem I guess as long no one gets to aroused or so
@Vineshroom I call them au nature-al walks
King's Quest VII was my favorite though! Can't believe you found such a nice copy like that!
What did your brother think of the cameras? Where they a worthwhile purchase? They look really cool.
The 30s/40s Kodaks are absolutely astounding! Awesome find, dude!
I ran the part number on that BMW Nav unit; and they used it on all of their late 90s models.
always stoked to see you find cool stuff at the local goodwills around town because whenever I go in them (especially your current favorite one) I can never find anything worthwhile

Nice car Clint. Which Goodwill did you get it?
You joke, but Goodwill actually does sell cars:
www.goodwillcardonation.org/
I'd love to see a episode on the Intellivision flashback, I know it's just intellivions games which we can find somewhere else, but would still love a episode on the machine and the games on it in general.
I'm never as happy on RUclips as when I see the LGR Thrifts. And yeah livin dat Honda life 😎
"Oooh, I'm gonna put my coffee down for this" :)
That robot gave me pleasant flashbacks of my childhood. My dog goes nuts when we use it. I love that thing!
I own the unabridged dictionary shown at 0:34. And thank you for no longer calling crappy old stereos "Hi-Fi's." :)
11:00 about 6 months ago I found the original 1992-93 version of Myst that had requirements Windows 3.0 or better with no special stickers except maybe "MPC" for $3.00, still have it. Thought about selling it but never got around to it.

I was enjoying a beer, clicking subscriptions and then,,LGR Thrifts shows up! Perfect, thank you :D
Love these thrifting episodes dude, keep it up!
11:31 I thought for a split second that he was gonna get the purple hippo for himself lol
that wood grain clock, my grandmother had an old flea motel, those were the in-room clock radios she had.
The GW in Rochester, MN got rid of their auction case a while back. Also I found a HL strrat. guide just like that a few years ago.
How could you pass up that regal portrait of Lord Canada Goose at 0:31? He probably had to pose for hours like that for the artist to get every detail just so.
Haha, in hindsight, I really missed out with that one.
3:45 But somebody stole my car radio and now I just sit in silence.
lol
3:45 that was a t.v radio i have one in my car but there are illegal in most states in america because people would try to watch old episodes of Law & Order while driving

That BMW head unit isn't touch screen ,but it's the same head unit as is in my car!
"Yeah, Bethesda made a horse game" I thought of Skyrim and immediately died laughing
Always love your thrift videos! Love the PC games and the cameras. Looking forward to more!
Sweet Honda bra.
Chya bra thanks bra

That BMW Professional audio system does not have a touch screen. It does have a nice colour screen, navigation and stuff like that, which was pretty nice for the mid (and late) 90's.

Just got in from an exam, tired, sleepy... Time to grab a snack, watch some LGR, and unwind ^_^.
It's always heartbreaking knowing you will never get this amount of goods in the uk. Wish we had goodwills :(
@2:49 - The horse on the cover of that game is Ghostzapper, I was there to watch him win that race :-)
nice nature thing at the beginning, there.
been to the woods today... found no shrooms
but bought two huuuuge pumpkins! =)
Wow! Kid Desk!? that was possibly my first ever game, I remember loving it, and my family members all made their own desk, good times.
I don't know if you have tried looking at half priced books but there are good picks at the store in Arlington Heights!!! They have a lot of good games as well as of course books

Fantastic episode. That clock with a slow sweep. 👌🏻
That's actually the original clock hands and face, you can look up vintage ads and photos that show it :)
I love going to Thrift stores and seeing if there is anything I can flip on ebay. Now days its harder to do. Seems like goodwill has a better idea of what the internet is. +Lazy Game Reviews love the LGR Thrifts keep em up.
I love watching these on my day off or after work. :3
i have been waiting so long for this !
Do any of the Goodwill's that you visit have color codded price tags? The ones out here (WA) use colored tags. Everyday at least one of the colors is 50% off. So, say Saturday it's 50% blue tags. Everything with a blue tag (regardless of the item) is half off.
Thank you for saying Crosley is crap! More people need to know that.
I still have my Atari 1010 cassette drive mint in box. Had such fun with it in the early 80's.
