the old man asking about the back scrubber as a dog brush!!!!! precious. i wonder if he got home and showed his wife excitedly and like painfully squatted down to brush his lil pup. 10/10 will think about again
That "old radio" is actually a reproduction from the '80s or '90s, styled to look like a "cathedral" radio from the 1930s, but with cheap, modern components inside -- definitely not worth getting.
Thrifting: a hobby of high risk and high reward. Once your parents introduce you to thrift stores, you will never escape the addiction... Or maybe that was just my own childhood.
I grew up going to thrift stores and flea markets. There was a church thrift store run by old ladies who would always tell me they remember me from when I was a baby in a pram.
I'm from Poland and I was "thrifting" so to speak on kind of flea market every Sunday for about couple of months last year. People were putting their stuff on tables or blankets there and were waiting to sell it to someone. I was looking mostly for PC games and got couple of them: like The Sims 3 with one of expansion packs, first Call of Duty, The Movies and my crown jewel (or I should say jewels) - The Pirates and The Witcher, both fully boxed and in perfect shape for very low price (5 zlotys which is little less than 2 $ each). The Pirates might actually originate from US, because there is a CompUSA sticker on the box with date 12/01/04. Here in Poland it's extremely hard to get something really rare or obscure without paying a fortune. You can search for such gems mainly on EBay-like auction service (Allegro), but the problem mainly is people's mentality: "somethng is new (New generation games for instance) - got to be valuable and I have to sell it for outrageous price". Then, "something is old/cult/obscure, then I need to give it even more outrageous price! Because it's old!". I can actually give one example on how expansive older games can be in Poland. It will be an example from EBay-like site, because thrift shops are nonexistent in Poland. I found Fallout 2 in a big box. It's pretty rare there but it shouldn't exceed like 10-20 zlotys (little more than 3-5 dollars), even the new one. But on this auction it was "Buy now" offer where the same Fallout 2 in big box (with only CD in a jewel case and instruction) was valued at 350 zlotys! (so it's about 100 dollars, almost 1/3 of average monthly salary!). Despite all that, I'm still planing to resume visiting this market during July and August. There are not as many games there as I see in those thrift videos (I would be amazed to see so many in the same place), but might be worth it. Usuals there are mainly PC and PlayStation / PlayStation 2 games, because first PlayStation was first ever video game console, that was officially distributed in Poland (communism for 40 years until 1989). I wanted just share my experience on the game collecting :) Wish me best of luck on my quest :) And to Lazy Gamer, I love your thrift videos. It's so interesting to see, what unsual stuff you can find on those Goodwills :D
I worked in a thrift store warehouse for about a year and because of that, I NOW HATE PIANOS! In the year I worked there we got 8 pianos and 4 organs. They are heavy as all hell, a super pain in the ass to move around, and nobody ever bought any of them, but everyone played with them in the store. The sound of people running a finger across all the keys would ring through the store about every 5 minutes, and the kids bashing the keys. . . . OH MY GOD I FUCKING HATE PIANOS!!!
[Coury] I'm a big fan of the old Electronics Boutique logo too. I spent a lot of time there and worked for them from 97-03. Back in the glory days, where half of the store was a wall of big box PC games and it wasn't the ugliest most obnoxious place to walk into
***** That's awesome, I loved the old EB stores. Traded in and bought a bunch of used PC games there too, it was one of the best options as a PC gamer on a budget!
***** Here in Australia our EB games never been rebranded a Gamestop, mostly due to the Gamestop brand being unfamiliar & these days only one store that I can trust.
Hey mate, doubt it's interesting to you but I find this so relaxing. This is my relaxation time show. I have a huge energy level and it gets scary sometimes because I really struggle to relax, but you sir are a magic ticket to taking me away from the constant ever raging drive. Thank you
11:00 Dude, I still have that exact set! I used it yesterday! It took quite a beating throughout my teenage years and kept on chugging. Now its in a much more safe area as a set of kitchen speakers.
I love your music choice and the style of your videos. The pacing is niced and relaxed like an older point and click adventure game... cheers to you sir!
Nazrat84 You gotta admit that 100 bucks for Guitar Hero is pretty awful though, especially since you can find all its individual parts at about any Goodwill for less than what they wanted combined.
Nesbro Have you seen the prices on plastic instruments? One guitar can go for $100 nowadays, even if used. (This will probably go down due to Rock Band returning, albeit no word if older Guitar Hero guitars will work with it.) The supply for these things have gradually gone down, so the prices have skyrocketed, especially when there is a demand from people who need more plastic instruments. It's crazy.
Nazrat84 Are you sure? I'm looking on eBay, and both the listings Rock Band and Guitar Hero controllers are almost all under 50 dollars. I could maybe understand Rock Band stuff going up in price because of the new game's compatibility with all of it, but the old GH stuff is useless in the new game, so it would be kind of stupid to price it so high. I don't know if there's some sort of shortage of peripherals where you are, but I can find old ones at every other Goodwill, and they're usually ten bucks or below. Hell, I even got a complete boxed copy of GHII for five. I've just never heard of them being so expensive about anywhere.
Nesbro Amazon, which is more of the set in stone prices. It could have gone down but last I checked a Guitar Hero 5 controller (Some people say is the best) was around $90. I ended up not buying plastic instruments because of this.
Wow, man. Your goodwills are so much better than mine. I live in middle GA and it's just awful in those..I've been to about 4 in my area at different times and I've never seen a pc game in the box. I got lucky once though, and found a pentium II PC for 10 bucks. Had ISA slots and everything and I made it a DOS and windows 98 machine. Even put a voodoo 5500 in it and a vintage sound blaster. Love all your videos man. Never stop as long as you are having fun! From watching these I think you are.
I had those Altec Lansing speakers for my first computer! It was a Dell that my dad got through his work in 2001, I was 6. Never thought I'd see a pair just like them on LGR!
1:50 Logitech Attack 3! Served me well for a decade., good entry-level joystick. Upgraded to an Extreme 3D Pro a while back, which is pretty much just an improved version.
Lazy Game Reviews The joystick at 1:54 is the Logitech Attack 3. Actually pretty good, stable and no fuzz stick! No twisty grip and throttle is badly placed. Works good for simpler arcade titles though.
Just a quick tip: If you find an EA Retail PC Game that was released before Origin at a goodwill, BUY IT because you can activate the code on Origin because most likely the previous owner didn't know that. If you have trouble just contact customer service and they will activate it for you. I did this with all my retail EA PC games and it worked out nicely.
That Packard Bell you pictured was exactly the model of my first IBM compatible computer back when I was in the Navy in the early 90s. Before that I had an Amiga 500, a Commodore 64, and a TI 99/4A. And yes, I had one of those speakers, and used it for many years AFTER I got rid of the computer.
I'm envious of that Command & Conquer soundtrack. :D And that whole shelf of Max Paynes is just surreal. For three bucks, I too would have jumped at it, I could have used a few just for miniatures painting practice.
Aah! Memories at 9:02!! I had that as a tiny child in the early 90s. Woah... I remember that coin descended on the right. So many lost plastic coins. XD
Man, I had that exact Altec Lansing subwoofer set for YEARS - it lasted through several moves and I was only forced to get rid of it about two years ago. Best subwoofer I've ever had. Nothing I've had since compares! (I know this comment is like, two years after the video was posted, but I'm binging the series. Had no luck at our Goodwill today - looks like all of the electronics and higher ticket items have been moved online, what a bummer.)
That warm feeling at the end when you showed the product of your findings! Did you finally got the Max Payne figurines? Didn't saw them in the pile. Damn, I'm so simple. Something like this video already cheered me up. Good findings. I'm still waiting for the episode you got nuts and actually buy all the vintage/odd looking TVs you can afford. Cheers man.
Luis Mercado As I mentioned in the video, there's some stuff not shown. And I wish old TVs were an option, but as I talked about in a previous Thrifts, Goodwill no longer accepts or sells CRTs!
I still use my Altec Lansing speaker and subwoofer set from 1999! It's awesome. Years later I bought a Creative Labs set and it sucks compared to the Lansing, so it sits in the closet.
Suddenly dog brush guy :D Good to see you put your expertise to work there ;) Some damn nice finds this time, especially big box Megarace and the C&C soundtrack set. I remember rocking out to Hell March the first time I took my new car for a spin ;D
I love it when random people come up to you at goodwill to ask questions because there’s like nobody really there and if you look competent enough people will just ask you
"I've been been meaning to cover this..." should be the official LGR slogan. I feel like it's said at some point in every episode of thrifts. This Channel sure does live up to its name! Hahaha!
I have the Logitech Attack3 joystick at 1:50, and I mean, I think it's a good joystick! All I've ever used it for is Flight Simulator X, and it certainly worked well for that. I guess it might not work as well for more advanced games/users though.
LOL. I'm still using one of those ALTEC sets (exactly the same as the one you found). Awesome sound. Gosh, it must be pretty old now that I think about it.
The Sims 2 DVD Edition is the one I have and it's my favourite game box I own. Unfortunately I've lost it among all my other junk, so seeing you pick it up (and open the flap!) had me more excited than I probably should have.
I have been to Goodwill stores all over the Midwest looking for games and electronics, and one thing I discovered is at any GW, no matter the location, you will find at least one copy of The Sims, or an expansion pack for The Sims. It must be a rule that they carry them.
Lazy Game Reviews as entertaining as always, I see you couldn't resist talking a little bit about Roland stuff as well; have you considered making a full episode about old school audio hardware (aside from your MI comparison video)? That would be interesting to watch :) oh, and thanks for bringing back the loot recap!
I LOLed when you said you don't see the Packard Bell logo on anything anymore, cos I actually have a mousepad with the PB logo on it that I still use! It's from about 2 or 3 PCs ago, I just never got around to buying a new mousepad haha xD
11:02 those altec speaker sets sound REALLY good. If you're a bass hog, they can really bump the floor for their size. Always worth grabbing if you find them. I snagged a black set years ago and my brother uses them now.
I like that you show what you bought at the end of the video again! ;) Man, I'm considering supporting you on Patreon just to see more thrifting-vids. :P
I remember that Bonkers game Clint, the game you see on the shelf next to Eye Witness game you pulled out about 3 and a half minutes into this video. Myself and my friend Gary had loads of fun in school playing this game.
The Altec Lansing system you were looking at.......I had that. I rescued it out of a garbage bin. Yes! I used to be a dumpster diver years ago. I once found a Mac Powerbook 144, fully functional, with power supply and 2 batteries. I used that laptop for 3 years.
The guitar solo was so funny :-) I'm also one of those who craved so much for those Altec Lansing speakers. There also was a competing speaker set from Boston Acoustics, one was an option with Dell PCs and the other with Packard Bell PCs here in Germany. I never actually heard them play and I got several of the Creative 4.1 and 5.1 sets just 2 years later for my Soundblaster Live!. But somehow that desire for those 2.1-sets mentioned before is still there to this day. Strange, what advertisings can do to young people.
At 15:57 I actually have that exact speaker system in my basement. I've been meaning to get rid of it for a while now. It's taking up much needed space.
I have the portable TV at 2:34, branded as a Sanyo. Interesting thing to mess around with. The joystick on the right at 1:55 is a Logitech Attack 3 and it quite good, I've got two of them. It was the Attack 2's that sucked. Also, I have an Apple IIc copy of Chessmaster 2100 that I got in 1989. I have lots of old stuff, because I am old and geeky.
I have a dark gray version of the Altec-Lansing speakers given to me by a very dear old friend, who sadly died about 5 years ago, and the sound is pure perfection in terms of quality. The Sub-Woofer really unleashes the bass in many sounds and music. It may be near twenty years old, but it certainly has a much better sound quality than TODAY'S Bluetooth Speaker!
Great video, and I'm glad you decided to show what you got in the end :) I hope you are going to make a video soon about that packard bell sound thing :) I am also very curious about mega racer, typing tutor and music studio
that was a sweet boxed megarace! i've never seen the box before. mine came with our packard bell computer back in the 90s. still love that game. still have the disc and used to play it on dosbox but as it always did back in the day it would freeze lol so now i have it on gog so i can play it on my laptop with no issues
the old man asking about the back scrubber as a dog brush!!!!! precious. i wonder if he got home and showed his wife excitedly and like painfully squatted down to brush his lil pup. 10/10 will think about again
You know you have a lot of shovelware when you come across "Super Elf Bowling" in a bargain bin and can say "yup, I own that". ;-)
Locut0s Haha
+Lazy Game Reviews can you do a video on typing tutor if you haven't already?
Lmao. The dregs
I still have super elf bowling on an old ibm thinkpad
Hahaha, the man with the dog brushed was hilarious.
Was that a toilet brush that he was planning to brush his dog with? Needs must, I suppose
what an icon😌
That was a brush you use in the shower to reach your back.
"Battlefield Bad Company 2! I didn't have this, but I'm not gonna get it either cuz fu-" AND CUT. hahaha
That "old radio" is actually a reproduction from the '80s or '90s, styled to look like a "cathedral" radio from the 1930s, but with cheap, modern components inside -- definitely not worth getting.
vwestlife Yup, someone else said they were sold at Radio Shack in the 80's.
LGR is so good that he's able to play drums at the same time he's playing guitar.
I've still got it.
Yeah, but who wants it? hahaha
He truly is a Renaissance Man, and a gift to us all
Thrifting: a hobby of high risk and high reward. Once your parents introduce you to thrift stores, you will never escape the addiction... Or maybe that was just my own childhood.
I've finally discovered another one of my one
The struggle is real when you can't go thrifting. I suffer everyday

You make about 300 US dollars a month? Is that an average salary in Poland?
''ugh, fans always in my way''
10/10
diegox1994 Justin Beiber has the same problem
Why is it so interesting to watch you bumble around a shop looking at old stuff???
i dont know.. but i like.
We have no life
I love old stuff, always touch random stuff when I visit the local fleamarket
It's his voice for me.
it makes me feel like i have a bunch of money to spend on games i’ll use once, it’s satisfying😌
Clint is so good at playing guitar, that he can also magically add in drums. Bravo.
Lol

You used to work at Target, yeah? I could tell with the precision at which you put that Lego box back.
aceconfetti LOL
+aceconfetti Yup. Anybody who has worked in retail for any significant amount of time zones out of pure reflex.
Did you create the guitar solo in Acid Music Studio?
brickman409 Great! I'm sick of all the notifications.
Freako Don't worry, I will fill your notifications to the brim with my love
Freako Wow, Freako watches LGR. TIL.
tylerboy565
Somebody once told me old computers were gonna roll me.
Freako
Holy shit Freako you are everywhere.
C&C soundtrack, man i'd kill for that collection!
Hey mate, doubt it's interesting to you but I find this so relaxing. This is my relaxation time show. I have a huge energy level and it gets scary sometimes because I really struggle to relax, but you sir are a magic ticket to taking me away from the constant ever raging drive. Thank you
Why cant I stop watching this show... WHY CANT I STOP WATCHING... THIS... SHOW!!!! GIAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
My wife and I just binge-watched this whole series, and I gotta say,I need to go thrifting...
Didn't get the super 8? Shame shame.
Back to the Future I KNOW AUHG!
+Back to the Future if it was me i would take it home. i have a thing for older cameras.
3:23
My God... *MY WORST NIGHTMARES HAVE BEEN REALIZED*
For some reason at 3:23, it looks like Clint is sliding past the mirror and not walking.
Also nice grin
It actually looks kind-of freaky.
Clearance is an untapped resource that I have tapped into. Now that I’ve found your thrifting videos my mind has been blown.
11:00 Dude, I still have that exact set! I used it yesterday!
It took quite a beating throughout my teenage years and kept on chugging. Now its in a much more safe area as a set of kitchen speakers.
Clint, I want that Command & Conquer soundtrack. Give it to me baby.
I reviewed that Bacon bowl, please God save yourself the time and effort of PEELING the bacon off the bowl with a knife.
It's soo soo bad.
But proto
Thanks, not gonna lie I was tempted to look into it.
Did you spray it with cooking spray first?
Once again you show, why I love your videos so much, simply by picking up my two favorite Ufo/ XCom games.
I love your music choice and the style of your videos. The pacing is niced and relaxed like an older point and click adventure game... cheers to you sir!
Battlefield and Guitar Hero? NOPE!
Boring awful typing program? I NEED IT!

@15:11 YES MY HAUL MADE IT IN!!
LGR's videos are ridiculously well-edited, genuine no played-for-laughs gag shit, and fucking hilarious
easily one of my favorite youtubers (^:
room Thanks a lot :)
I love this series; Its like another, more surreal world which reflects our own then you remember it is indeed still Earth...
LOL. I'm still using one of those ALTEC sets (exactly the same as the one you found). Awesome sound. Gosh, it must be pretty old now that I think about it.

That face 3:22 Ha! Great thrifty episode as always.
Glad you brought back the round up at the end, it was bugging the crap out of me that you had stopped doing it.

LGR Thrifts is my Favorite YT Series next to Lazy Game reviews
Man i love this series, started watching from episode 1 and can't stop myself .Off for the next one ;)
Thanks for bringing back the overview at the end!
I wonder what can be written in such a large book about Internet Explorer
Think of all the bizarre porn websites you can visit!
Thanks again for your video. You are a clever chap and funny at times during the video. Really appreciate your time.
I want to see more of dog-brush man!
And while you're at it get getting-way-too-excited-when-an-old-pizza-coupon-works guy back on the show as well!
13:11 OMFG I had that as a kid and totally forgot about it! That Tornado Jockey game was so fun!
Thanks for showing your haul at the end of the video! I really missed that!
hahaha the mirror shot. Loved it!
Edit: After watching it over and over again... it looks like you are rolling really smoothly lol
13:04 BEST BORDER GORE SIM EVER MADE! ( Victoria 2 my fav game of all time didn't even think it came out on CD)
The last place I was expecting to learn a vocabulary term about that ASMR-niche, lol.
"I like the brown." It made me laugh when you said that, idk why I found it so funny.
The Altec Lansing system you were looking at.......I had that. I rescued it out of a garbage bin. Yes! I used to be a dumpster diver years ago. I once found a Mac Powerbook 144, fully functional, with power supply and 2 batteries. I used that laptop for 3 years.
The guitar solo was so funny :-)
I'm also one of those who craved so much for those Altec Lansing speakers.
"Fans always in my way, get out of here!"
Wow, that's rude LGR!
Glad you brought back the shot of the things you purchased.
I've owned the joystick you're holding at 1:54. Used to play the hell outta some Mechwarrior 4 with it. I liked it.
I laughed so hard at the random interaction in the good will. I get those sometimes at value village too!
Some of those photos at the end make me want to cry over how sweet those scores are.
I love how you talk to DOS games like one would greet a puppy. ;)
