I would just like to add- I have had pugs for years- clearly this poor car has had some right cowboys looking after her. Good to see a man take some proper pride in his work- I would be more than happy to bring my car to you sir!
Hi Dave, I am rebuilding my at the minute for the second time, I followed your advise on timing the engine, worked perfectly. My new task is piston rings. The vac solenoid slips onto a flat bracket on the left side of intake manifold, you should get it from underneath car, or just loosen manifold and and get it properly. Also if vanos solenoid was dirty ,consider cleaning the non return valve just below it, plastic bolt torx bit sunk into the head. Thanks for you videos !!!

Thank God there are still good mechenics about Dave,i have same car, been to 6 different garages and were not able to sort the car out, great videos,my car is now lying at my door with a stretched timing chain,or so the last guy told me,but he never offered to fix it,sorry Dave mine is a 1-6 petrol
Dave, I could feel your frustration mate, I'm the same when I see that type of crap especially from another garage.... at least the owner has learnt a lesson, albeit an expensive one and I'm sure you have another customer for life :) Keep her lit !!!! --J
As a THP owner I know how this costumer feels the engine has all kinds of problem but you can hear timing chain way before it gives out so I am kind of surprised they let it get to that point to begin with. But yeah I had mine changed when it started to rattle at low rpms and it turns out one of the plastic supports broke at 90k km (chain is suppose to be changed at 100k)
Has it been to tossers Inc before Dave , these idiots give us guys a bad name , started watching this and thought we've been here before with one of these , it pisses you off when they rip customers off doing unnecessary work , good job it's with you now to make it bang on again , good man
I feel sorry for the customer here, spending all of that money and then the car has faults that are related to the work that was done. At least it will be done correctly this time.
Hi Dave. I might be looking at a 308 cc with this engine. Is it possible to ask what to look out for mechanically on these? Want to make sure I check everything and not lose money of I do but it.
I would like to ask you something can you gave me mail or something?Im having trubles with ep6dt engine on citroen. Its seams that mechanics here have no clue how to fix it.Spend almost 2000 euros or repair so far and still it isnt fix.I have errors codes for to ritch mixture first it was P0229 now its P0172.
Its quite common to have a stretch timing chain with this engine. Also the turbo and exhaust cause alot of heat and issue to the piping and connectors around the area. Lastly is the intake, it's direct injection so carbon build up on the intake is common. Peugeot 308 first revision of the ep6 is pretty bad.
@@davesterl I am not sure if mechanics watch these videos? Probably just home diy like myself. I learned how to do these repairs because of videos like yourself. I like your video because I can see what I need to do ahead of time and prepare all the right tools and parts before I do the repair. Also, I am looking out for tricks and tips.
My RCZ is making the dreaded rattling noise on cold start up , what in your opinion is the cost of replacing if I get the parts for the job please ? Thanks Shane uk 🇬🇧
Hi Dave, great video, keep it up. Would you please advise me here: My engine on my 308 1.6 2007 was taken apart and put back together again and timing chaining was replaced as well and now the fan refuses to come on at normal operating temp. Would you know what could be the problem? Also would you be able to tell me which is camshaft A and which is B?
@@hackinglife35 I may be a bit late, but it could be a bad fan relay module located at the front bumper. If you have an obd2 module, you can test it by using the FAPlite app.

Have dave, I have the same car, I have codes P1336, P1337, P1338,P1339 and P1340, the car is misfiring, I have replaced the spark plugs and fully serviced the car also a new battery, someone said these codes can be high pressure fuel pump, coil packs, camshaft position sensor. I did also have depollution system fault that went away, I'm worried that it could be timing related to cause all the cylinders to misfire, any insights or info?

Questionable workmanship and a Bill for 3 Grand that leaves your car full of after market bits...Oh and BTW its not fixed...That would test the temperament of a Saint!

Disgusting! Someone paid £3K of hard earned money over three garages in the hope of getting their car right only to discover it's still not running correctly and the work's poorly executed! Some butcher can't even resecure parts correctly and uses tape around a hose connection. I've experienced similar levels of amateur cowboy work but not on this scale or expense.
