Thank you for your comment. I have not driven a diesel variant of the Insignia but can imagine it being an excellent motorway cruiser and very economical too.
Please let us know how the fuel economy is. I seen reports anything from 32mpg to 44 mpg which is a bit poor to be honest. Autoexpress says on a touring run it should manage 52 mpg. (English miles per gallon and manual gear box)
Good review! Got a insignia GT myself. Got 17 inch wheels for comfort. And take those splendid agr seats. Its spacious and has a good price compared to vw passat and renault talisman. Drives agile, good looks.
Got one of these, and a lovely car to look and drive, had a few cars in my time but if and when the time comes I will reorder this make and model again, something I have never done before. German engineering and manufacture, at a reasonable price.
Great review,... had my 2.0 diesel VXLine for 2 years now, the VXLine is a VERY smart looking car. Very good video with well progressed content with all the info you want. Only downside to these cars is the economy, but not too fussed about it. Due another one of these next year where the spec is been improved
Great review just brought one of these really really pleased got it in manuel in red as well had a astra gtc limited edition before this the insignia wins hands down.
Worth pointing out here that the Escort was never up against the Cavalier. The Cavalier was initially a rival to the Cortina, then Sierra followed by the Mondeo, and then the Vectra B took over in 1995. The point about the glovebox being a PSA carry over is also incorrect as the Insignia B is a GM design from before the PSA takeover.
I don't know why car reviewers are so obsessed with lower down harder plastic - hardly an important feature ffs! My old Jeep XJ's dash is all hard plastic & I don't give a monkeys 😆
Thank you for the comment KB. I said that due to the Escort being around longer than the Astra. And as I run AutoBears in my spare time, thank you for calling me a professional reviewer!! Big bear hugs!!
I doubt it. That car has a GM engine. The Commodore in Australia was announced 1 day before Opel was sold. I have oneto me it’s a sweeter engine than the V6 tied to a 9 speed Auto Transmission & front Wheel Drive. It is a Very good car.
@@loyalbear3954 I could :) It is the B16SHT engine Opel developed in early 2012. 2018 Insignia got the the Euro 6 version B16SHT which is evolution of the original A16XHT with 170 bhp. This generation of Insignia is the last true German build and really really worth buying. I personally consider it as best in class. This engine has nothing in common with shitty Peugeot versions (I believe the engine code of the french is EP6FDT and EP6FDTX. I admit Peugeot has nice 2.0 hdi diesel motors but the range of 1.6 diesel and petrol are one of the shittiest on the market and should be avoided on any price!
Just brought a Aussie derived version of this badged as a Holden and can’t find another countries version with this spec. Version I got is the wagon hit with all options, but also a 3.6 litre V6 (315hp), 9sp auto and 4wd. I’ve come from a 2015 Passat to this 2019 Holden (insignia) and must admit build quality aside, it’s a decent move foward
I had the Holdon Commodore when I spent 7 weeks in Darwin with work, and it was a fantastic car… which is why I’m here now looking at if I can have on in the UK! 👌😆
Sorry mate, this engine has nothing in common with Peugeot - it is entirely German! In my opinion Insignia B is the prettiest and best in its class. I drove the 2.0 GSI for a while it has lovely sportiness in it while still keep that long distance comfort. Loved it and actually attempt to buy one for myself.
sorry to be off topic but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Karsyn Mayson i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
More reliable then Skoda Probably less reliable then Mazda ... but not sure about the second statement I always say the reliability depends on how you use the car and how many option boxes tick at purchase. This insignia is the most hightech in its class and you can spec an Audi/BMW rival in terms of technology, but more things to have means more things to fail at some point and make problems. Highly recommend the AGR seat - that for me is a must have option - another best in class, these are one of the comfiest seats I've sat, and Intelilux headlights is another great option.
Hello need ur help, want to buy same trim in 2L diesel. Need ur assistance how well MPG Figures I can expect from 2L trim. Going to use in Uber London , is going to be economical. Thanks
Thank you for your comment. The 2L diesel should be an economical choice for you. I’m not sure what real world figures you would get as I’ve not tested the diesel.
Hi there NoName. It was a good car in sport mode but it's not that type of car. Granted I would've loved to have seen a VXR version released. Especially as this was the last GM car from Vauxhall.
I don't own one but I love this car. However past vx ownerships have not been great due to some really poor choices... basically using shit fiat parts for major components which had a history of failure
Auto Bears Thanks I’m hoping to go electric when my current insignia gets too old. Whilst the petrol is powerful, it’s only as quick as a ‘prestige’ 2 litre diesel like a bmw 520d which has similar performance figures.
1.6 ltr petrol ?? Shhheessh , talk about underpowered !! At least the RSV & VXR versions of this in Australia were available with a 3.6 ltr V6 AWD with 9 speed auto !! Much better than such a small engine trying to move a fairly hefty car !
Thank you for the comment. The 1.6 has a decent amount of poke for such a big car. Yes, here we have gone away from the larger engines but they still can pack a punch and return decent economy.
@@AutoBears Hmm ...... yes , if you're in a Toyota Corolla sized car perhaps ! A engine that size in a car that big is just a bit too small really . It must be revving it's proverbial tit's off to carry 4 adults and luggage and do 100km per/hr up a steep hill !! In a scenario such as that fuel economy would be atrocious ! 😣😣
The car is about 200 kilograms lighter then the previous generation, and 200 bhp and 280 NM of torque just above idling speed - not that much ago that amount of torque was 3.0 diesel engine category :) 8 sec to 100 kph is everything else but not underpowered :)
@@BenzinioB Well , my wife and I drove her friends 4 cylinder Insignia and it is about on par with a four cylinder Camry . Adequate but NOT overly powerful ! My wifes V6 Insignia certainly runs rings around it , that's for sure !
not really, equivalent Peugeot 508 GTLine sarting price is £2500 more. The current VXLine (B facelift) that you can buy is some £3000 more than the preface on this test due to added standard spec (matrix lights, full leather, massage and heated seats etc) - so was good value for money, and still is.
Thank you for your comment. I felt the refinement levels were good in the Insignia. But the large alloys did present additional road noise compared to a less sporty trim.
@@AutoBears Ok, I agree, the Superb is more practical only in the trunk, but everything else is on the Insignia side at least I got that impression. And I also think the trunk space of the Insignia is big enough for everyday use. For me, the Insignia is a much better car 💪

Superb review thankyou.
Was looking at Audi A3s but in terms of cost effectiveness etc plus the looks this isn't bad at all.

Looks nice to me especially with the automatic I'm a big vauxhall /Peugeot fan.

every car review seem to mention the hard plastic lower down on a car is it because its more durable and less suspect to damage

The 1.6 is one of the new engines to go through the PSA group. It is a sweet engine that suits it well.
I'm sure this is still an opel / vx sourced engine, been out for a few years now. PSA scrapped their 1.6T due to emissions
