    I took swimming pool noodles from the Dollar Tree ($1 each) and cut them in half lengthwise to put on my tubing & zip-tied them to the cage wire to hold in place. They have the hole in the center of the noodle that fits around the tubing nicely plus you can just roll the noodle to check for algae or obstructions if needed. It seems to help keep algae growth down as well as keeping the sun from directly heating the water in the tubing.

    Great video! Tons of content! Felt like it was my neighbor chatting over the fence. 🤗

    Great information! How much ACV/gallon of water? I haven't seen how you supply your water but I'm thinking of using five gallon buckets. Thanks!
    Also, do you have a video for what to do during freeze snaps (I'm in GA and it usually does a few days at a time).

    Speaking of algae. Maybe you might consider expanding into fish. People are feeding rabbit pellets to catfish in a barrel. Fish will add more variety to your diet of rabbit and quail meat.

      That is true and not a terrible idea. I may do it some day but just not in the plan right now. Already have plenty of irons in the fire. :)

      Slightly Rednecked it's not that easy tho, you would need a really good size pond for proper growth of fish

    Why do we need an active culture in cider vinegar to run through the lines instead of distilled ACV?

    i will try to use the automatic watering system but the algae.
    i have a idea what if i use 1inch pvc pipe as the main line then drill 5/8" holes for the tee connected to the watering nipples.
    good idea is to put a little amount of apple cider vinegar in the watering system. the applecider as i have read will make the rabbits conditions to be breed.

      PVC will probably help cut down on algae but it won't eliminate it. You just won't see it so maybe that is good enough. :)

      I have white pvc in my hydroponic system and even in the shade I have algae in it. Just an FYI...

    Very interesting, I use salt to remove the algae.

    Wondering if blowing it out with an air compressor would dislodge the algee?

    When I was growing my garden with hydroponics algea build up was an issue. A couple cap fulls of Hydrogen Peroxide would clean it up.Not sure what that would do to rabbits or quail but it never hurt any of the fruits or veggies I was growing.

      Good idea. Not sure you should feed it to your animals though. I don't worry about it. just clean the system at the end of the season. Never had an issue.

    Thanks for the great info! Would recirculating the water in the header line back into the bucket stop the algae buildup? You could use a small fountain pump or something similar running off a small solar panel. Tanks again, and God bless!

    • @Slightlyrednecked
      @Slightlyrednecked  7 лет назад

      That might work. honestly I don't find it to be an issue so I just don't mess with it.

    • @Slightlyrednecked
      @Slightlyrednecked  7 лет назад

      I use water cups. I have a video on that system build. here is a video that shows what I use. ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=-mPsfIdTLtQ
