I love that one. I've never heard it before and this may sound corny, but I always try to say something nice to someone especially if they look a bit down. I usually don't hold back my tongue when I'm around a friend, since it shows that I'm just true, not mean. It's better that I'm the one who will remind them on what to change for themselves, than being gossiped around by those other friends of them who, at the same time, smiling in front of them. 🙂 It became my principle in friendship. 🙂

Something similar .... trout lips on your face means you've gone too far!
May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May yhe sun shine warm upon your fields and until we meet again may god hold you in the hollow of his hand.

@@bastonor ..thought it was just a Stephen Stills track on Atlantic Records. Whatever, it was a fun song but, just like Sting's "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free" its theme lost appeal somewhat when the idea of free love clashed with the scary reality of AIDS and other STDs during the '80s.
No disparagement here but it only proves that the totality and universality of the human experience, that this wisdom is found equally in many cultures, not just the Irish. But it is always fun to hear the cultural take on this wisdom

How much more memorable these wise Irish Proverbs in a lilting eloquent Irish accent. 😍
Oh, how I love these irish quotes! 🇸🇪 From Sweden with love! 🇮🇪
My Irish dad said ," either u do or don't, there's no in-between. And "you can't out-run a reputation. And my favorite was " Never forget your Irish girl" REST IN PARADISE DAD LOVE U AND MISS U TERRIBLE
My own dad used to say "it's time for a bit of I can and I will"
When I saw this.. I instantly thought the very first was going to be "Jesus Mary and Joseph give me strength", said my Irish mother always!!!!
My mom always said this when I was growing up. We are Americans with roots in Ireland. Later on I met Cubans who said their moms said Jesus, Maria y Jose. I think it’s a universal Catholic saying. Lol
Interesting thoughts and insights into life.
"Let a shout come from without and see them all unite". No truer words have ever been spoken.

There is a country &western song here in Ireland sung by the late great Big Tom and it goes like this :- You are going out the same way you came in
Doesn't matter who you are or where you've been Doesn't matter who you are Royalty or Superstar you are going out the same way you came in....and there's more....Look it up on You Tube A great song by an all time great singer who is now passed away R.I.P. Big Tom 🙏

In Trinidad and Tobago watching Irish sayings. Ah love them, especially the one - if you want to be criticized - marry. 🤔🤣🤣
This one I love "The best way to keep loyalty to a man's heart is to keep money in his purse", "A kind word never breaks anyone's mouth".
Reminding me that "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach". 🙂
I'm not Irish but this is what I've realized a month ago.
Yes, but these sayings are all merely generalizations which do not by any means always apply accurately.
@@gregoryross.303 it may not be general. I interpret it as "don't waste a man's time for no purpose or don't waste your time for no purpose" but "a man should always watch what he says because words can create war".

"It's better to live on the roof of the house, than within the house with a contentious partner."
I'm Irish american and I've heard that before but I didn't even know it was an Irish saying. May your mother and mine rest in peace and have a hearty afterlife
One I heard as a child: 'Conscience is a luxury only those with a full stomach can afford'. My father told me it after I asked about my history homework, specifically the great famine and alleged cases of cannibalism.

Sounds like blaming a lack of integrity on one's socioeconomic situation. A cop-out.
@@GhostSamaritan Agree.
@@GhostSamaritan I kind of agree with you but as time goes on I realise that it is probably not that simple. It is easier but not impossible to have that integrity when your “stomach is full” and you have at least some opportunities around you. The longer I live, the less judgemental I become.

No. You don't because you didn't in the first place.

I am Irish and I've loved seeing all of these together. Some of them I would have known but not all.
Here for wisdom ☁️🙆☁️ a kind word never broke anyone's mouth
I love that one. I've never heard it before and this may sound corny, but I always try to say something nice to someone especially if they look a bit down. I don't mean in a false way, in a genuine way. It takes 2 minutes to say something nice and I think in these days of social media, keyboard warriors etc, it's a good way to live. People always remember how you made them feel.
Beautiful sharing.Thank you.
EXCELLENT.
I will be taking these along for the ride that is called, "life".
If a man loved me and showed it to me everyday by working together for us, honesty, loyalty and kindness; I believe I would fall in love with him.❤️

As a child, love broke my heart so badly, I swore I would never give my heart like that again but I failed. I usually don't hold back my tongue when I'm around a friend, since it shows that I'm just true, not mean. It's better that I'm the one who will remind them on what to change for themselves, than being gossiped around by those other friends of them who, at the same time, smiling in front of them. 🙂
It became my principle in friendship. 🙂
i am usually a quiet person , how ever when i see something suspicious i will not hold back
Well... to quote the video, "Better the coldness of a friend than the sweetness of an enemy."
Cold hard facts from a friend? Sweet sh*t you want to hear from someone to stick you in the ass??? Maybe???
It's "wit" technically and not every quote necessarily applies everywhere to every situation in everyone's life. ;o)
Provided that 'everything has a limit. In friendship, it's not your intent that matters mostly; rather his/her/their acceptance/ response towards it. If you ask me, I will go 100% with you. At the end of the day, my conscience is free.
A saying from Holy Scripture:-
" Beware of the wolves in sheep's clothing"
"They hide their malice behind a mask of virtue"
"Experience is the comb that life gives a bald man". Hahaha, too good.
I don't think some of these are just Irish sayings but it's cool to see their take on these.
Are this quote words are special, because it sounds beautiful and I love it. Thanks you for your video.
"A woman will never leave a man who does not hold her" That's cold bruh!!! 🥶 I had to rewind to make sure I read that one correctly
My grandmother used to say this same thing wish I had listened to her
'I complained that I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet. - This sentiment hits me forcibly every time I catch an episode of the TV series 'Body Bizarre' ! Some unfortunate individuals in this world endure such extreme conditions, most common afflictions pale in comparison.
WTF! I'm an Afghan and I heard half of these from my mom. she would even say it in poetry that I still remember. for example, she would tell me your tongue can be your best friend and your worst enemy. Sunshine always follows rain we say There is always light after darkness. Who gossips with you will gossip of you. A kind word never broke anyone's mouth, my mom used to tell me if you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all or It won't kill you to be nice try it.

Such sweet and tru sayings. 🦋🦋🦋🦋
Two of my favorites that I live by are "Never grow a wishbone daughter where your backbone ought to be." and "If you don't have your word in this life, you don't have anything."
Loves the one that said ‘No matter how many rooms you have in your house, you’re only able to sleep in one bed’. Rings oh so true. Even black hens lay white eggs is another saying that is very good . ……Lastly, I get this feeling that it would have been more fitting to have an Irishman doing the narrating just to give it that little extra bit of genuineness to it.
I silence the voice and just read the captions.
We have a lot of similar proverbs here in Sweden .Like "Tala är silver, tiga är guld" To speak is silver, to be silent is gold. "En fågel i handen är bättre än tio i skogen" A bird in the hand is better than ten in the forest.
Like in Thailand 'speak get 2 coin, silent got gold'
Cash in my wallet is better than one lottery ticket.
They are all so good. Just wish I could remember them.
Very nice! Thanks.
My favorite prayer: For those that love us, may God keep them and their family in his care. For those that do not love us, may God turn their hearts. But if he can not turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we will know them by their limping."
Oh so funny 🤣🤣
