      @@winnguyen443 they really surprisingly sip battery life, and are fantastic up to about finger size sticks. I still love it. It would be great for trail maintenance, other than I ran it for 3 hours this weekend and my arms are hurting from the workout! LOL (they aren’t too heavy, but over hours - they do have weight!!). I hope you get one and enjoy it!!!

    Wood ash in a powder form is an absolutely terrific free fertilizer. I mix it into the soil when planting stuff or just spread it anywhere I feel fertilizing is required. Just don't apply it to lawns that people move on immediately after, unless there is no rain in the immediate forecast. Rain washes the ash from grass into the ground and the effect is typically quite fast and quite stark, you can often see which patches of the lawn got more ash as they become thicker and darker ;). Of course, you have to pick the metal stuff out of the ash (that goes into the scrap heap or whoever is collecting metal waste), but I suppose you do it anyway. It's worse when the metal bits are small. Nails, screws and alike are very tough to find in the pile of ash (unless you have one of those large magnets used for magnet fishing), so I try removing them before burning the wood as much as possible.
    Edit: wood ash can drive down the acidity of the soil, so not to be overused for plants that like acid environment. But if you want to neutralize the acid soil, then you basically get two rabbits with a single shot.

      Thanks! I've struggled with what to do with it... I suppose I ought to just toss some around and see what it does!! Thanks for watching and the comment! It's motivated me to do something with the ash!!

    You need a laser gun trimmer, that will clean it up fast (an inventor like you can get that done). Wanna hear something funny? I use a small "leaf blower" to blow out the dust bunnies behind my studio desk / acoustic tiling (which has a spaghetti nest of cables) to a place that my Dyson can suck up all that studio dust!
    Nice t-shirt! Set up a store to sell those.

But it’s off screen, and I think I’m holding a bar right before the teeth to adjust the head angle. I still have all my fingers! Still love the trimmer. It just rocks. I have a smaller hand held makita hedge trimmer and I don’t think I’ve used it more than once sense owning this. It’s fantastic! You’ll love it.

    ive had a few of these now, the head after a while slips out of locked position, have sent it back to makita a number of times and they don't know how to fix it. after 3 times being sent back still with the fault they sent me a replacement unit and after 8 months thats doing the exact same thing so its clearly a manufacturing fault. other than that they are good but the fault makes them almost useless as 1 slip and you've taken the top out of a hedge or a bush you didn't want to

    • @OldIronAcres
      @OldIronAcres  Год назад

      @bidders77 ...interesting. I've had mine almost 2 years now. I haven't experienced that at all. I use it probably just under once a month, and every spring/summer use it all day on my long driveway. I'll keep an eye out for that in the future! Thanks for the warning...Thanks for watching... and Thanks for the comment!!

      @@OldIronAcres no worries. I use mine almost every week at least 5 times or more. It's infuriating. Under warranty still though so I'll be sending it back as many times as it takes to get it sorted. Clearly a weak point. Even slips out of lock if I have the red collar held tight to stop it moving. Does it more often on twiggy stuff, not so much with fresh growth but it still does it. Drives me mad....have taken chunks out of customers shrubs on a number of occasions now. They aren't cheap at £300

      Yes (I think I'm translating your comment correctly), the batteries can be limiting. I have a pair of great 5-ah batteries, and I've yet to kill both on one job with this trimmer. With that said... I'm going to guess that I'm getting just over an hour (?) of working time for each battery on full power. Yes you'd need more batteries if you wanted to use one all day. I don't think my arms could take that! LOL. Thanks for your comment!

      @@lucianopanarelli1546 - I'd say the Makita is overkill for a neighborhood (less than 1-2 acres) home, and fantastic for an estate, or larger property (2-80 acres).
