In actual work is done in different sections .so any technician of incharge have deep knowledge of particular section ( parts, components)
Those appears to be fuel injectors as I can tell, hence diesel engine doesn't have spark plugs

So, on his question, when he starts explaining about cylinders and other parts, I got a hint either he doesn't know it's a Fuel pump or he is delibrately avoiding to share info.

ALCO (American Locomotives) was the company that got defunct in 1969. Before that, they transferred their technology to various countries incl. India. Today, ALCO production is limited to WDM 3D variant only. General Motors is the other company which is replacing ALCO and their humming EMD engines' tech transfer happened more than a decade ago.
