I just used this two part video to successfully repair a diaphragm carburetor on a old Craftsman edger Model 536 797561. The carburetor was 99% the same as shown in the video. The video was vital part of my decision to attempt the repair myself. I got the carburetor repair kit from Sears Parts on-line but only used the diaphragm and gasket. Using techniques in the video, I determined that other parts didn't need replacing. Thanks for posting this great video.
My wifes G.Mother gave us one of these. It does lack the guts of most any other snowblower but is ok if you plan to go out and hit the big storms 2-4 times rather than waiting for the whole 8+ inches to fall
What if the diaphragm is stretched? In the video, in addition to the tear near, I thought the physical set or stretch to form a "moat" would require a replacement at the diaphragm wound not move enough to lift the needle valve. I hope that those with more experience can tell me if a Moated diaphragm is also a must replace or if flexible it still has useful life left.
I am working on a Craftsman edger with a 4-cycle Tecumseh engine. It has not been used in several years. It starts with Starting Fluid but then "dies" immediately. This points to a fuel problem. The carburetor has no float bowl; it is a diaphragm-type, the same as that shown in this video. I disassembled the carburetor expecting to find it packed with deposits but it was clean. However, the diaphragm is stiff. Is there a way to restore it to normal flexibility or must it be replaced? .
If the diaphragm is stiff, it MUST be replaced. Also, if you see the letter F by the intake, the order will go: cover, gasket, and then diaphragm. If you look up How To Rebuild Tecumseh Diaphragm Carburetors With Taryl, he will show the F that I am talking about.
how or what size sockets are needed to remove the needle and seat on these seems similar to my david bradly chainsaw has an ah58 power products engine on it needs needle and seat replacement floods out diaphragm worn and needle and seat worn likely looks exactly like that too any ideas thanks sir
I have a briggs powerbuilt on my snapper 2 stage blower and It runs for 15 minutes then quits. You let it sit for a while and it will run another 10 minutes then quits again. It's been doing this since we bought it 3 years ago. I have no idea what it could be, any suggestions?
