goddamn I love Sazh's battle animations add the fact that Reno Wilson brings so much to his character and personality and you have a rare breed of perfection
I used the blitz method. Really easy. I buffed myself up to the maximum, and summoned. Deprotect, deshell, imperil and slow. Then I switched to tri disaster to get the stagger gauge up until Fang and Lightning returned, and then he was staggered. After that switched to Cerberus and repeated Blitz over and over again while Fang and Light did some serious damage. This guy was gone in about 2 minutes. MUCH better then the death trick!

So many people did or do not like this game FFXIII but I do. It was also the one where I managed to get my first platinum trophy and I loved all the strategy you had to use to 5 star all the hunts and for these beasts. Once I am done with FF Type 0 which will be out in exactly a week from now I am going to replay 13 again.
Because many people just use the roles which they themselves like best, but in order ta be proficient at this game and clear it, MUST LEARN TO SET PARADIGM STRATEGIES PROPERLY! Even a powerfull role like Commando needs back-up and not just another Commando. The thing to remember is that each role adds a bonus effect, small, but still better than no bonus to all allies. So a team of Commando, Ravager, and Sentinel will have extra damage from Commando, raise stagger guage faster from Ravager, and the party will take less damage thanks to presence of the Sentinel. All these bonuses are based on the role level, but many people forget that the bonuses even exist and just throw together a sorry lot of crappy paradigms. Seen people casting spells with Snow and Fang, which was ridiculous since those 2 characters have the WORST magic stat. This is the only reason people hate this game is due to the fact they themselves fail to understand how to properly set paradigms.

(by the way not enjoying Type 0 at at all) You really had to think and change the battle and it was so much fun to find out which system would be best to kill so and so enemy.One paradigm set wrongly could mean you be killed but if you changed it up you could win with 5 stars.
Unless it was necessary fer trophy, really never tried fer 5-star rating. Primary concern wwas and still is simply survival. But watching others play their walkthroughs, same cannot be said. As fer their chocies of paradigm creation, EPIC FAIL! It truly is embarrassing watching people put up videos with such awfull playing. :(
O you should give it a try. I did it after I played the main game but next time I am going to try during which will be much hard. I earned my first platinum trophy with this game.. O I might go and watch those videos.. lol
***** Agree. I love the Paradigm system and after learing how to use Evened Odds with Fang (SAB) / Hope (SYN) and Light (MED) in the beginning of the battles made me things so far easier (I was able to beat 2nd form Orphan 1st time in around 90 sec).
For such a tough opponent, you'd think its death would be a little more spectacular XD I'm kind of surprised you don't get a sixth ATB gauge though. I'm still only in Chapter 11.
@faiye1 Not sure what you mean? It can drop Platinum Ignot (5% x amount of stars) or trapezohedron (1% x amount of stars. So a 5 star battle will give a 25 % chance of an Ignot and a 5% chance of a trapezohedron. So you can save, defeat him, see if you get anything, and then restart if you didn't get anything to try again. Is this what you wanted to know?
@Crazyness1994 Loug gui and sholoung gui are more grey its a very subtle but once you unlock the long gui it replaces all but the adam in the edan area.
Interesting. Easily is...relative. You just want this for the 3 best commandos with super buff weapons. At this rate I'd rather just go Fang, Vanille, Hope but this is how busted 999 P. Attack is.

@qwertyb18 Sazh's Blitz is more powerful and more useful at close-range. Point-blank range against a large enemy like this, it can deal nearly ten times the damage of a single strike.
This is the best way to kill this guy earlier.Actually Sazh can be at 800+ strength,but seriously the stagger point will be ALMOST gone after you killed it(if you do everything right in timing).
@uaechibi too true - when I read what the percentages were for the rare and common drops I was extremely pissed. Even with the catalogs farming is still stressful. Its very unlucky that you didnt get any traps considering you have a higher chance of getting them from long guis than adamantoise/adamatortoise. Rather annoying that you start getting what you previously needed when you have no use for it anymore....

Thats what happened to us all, but here i am now, after getting the platinum trophy in the game, all weaps maxed out...... easily able to squash an adamantoise in 1 minute. Long gui's are another story >.>
I beat Adamantoise one time without Death as well, how ever..I got extremely lucky, and used quite a bit of elixers. Just had people with physical resistance and decent hp with a medic and sentinel. Summon, then when the tortoise goes down and the team comes back triple rav until stagger and triple Com when its staggered. When it gets back up, Summon again unless I don't have the tp then I use elixer. Like I said before, I was lucky to live all the hits and took awhile. Didn't get trap tho =(
So... I'm beating FFVIII right now and I had to farm a few Adamantoise cards for a turtle shell. How on earth did they turn that... into THIS. I'm not saying it's the first monster to go through a size change but DAMN! XD Looks like a Star wars walker! Awesome technique too btw. r.r; right now I'll just leave these guys alone lol
@RKLshinobiBackup Hmm, I'm in Chapter 11 at the moment (Well, just killed the last boss, but haven't progressed yet), and upgraded Sazh's weapons to the Hyades Magnums, but only at level 40 (They give around 700 STR), as well as given him 3x Warriors Wristbands with 180 STR each. He now has 20XX (Forgot the exact number) STR, but only 4.7k HP due to the Silk Tiger effect. And with a tactic I've tried myself, I can kill them in just over a minute, so I guess MAG isn't needed too much, lol. =]
@scribble71891 I know right. Been farming these guys for about 5 days now. Got 31 platinum Ignots, 12 Trapezohedrons and 2 moogle puppets (from using the chocobo to travel between the adamantoises) and it's still not enough I think. I stop farming at 99 Ignots I guess.
Actually, you don't need stage 10. I had 5000ish health when i started the strategy. I got maxed Hyades Magnums and in chap 12 I had 3 paradigms, syn/sab/sab, rav/rav/rav, and com/com/com. Summoned brynhaldir and buffed up, then went to tri-disaster, until co. came back, switched to syn/sab/sab until debuffs and buffs were up, put his stagger 999 percent and switched to cerberus. Then i blitz/blitzed him to death.
You also need way higher stats for Fang's method to work. The advantage to the Sahz method is that you don't need to grind to do it, you can do it with low stats and you only need to upgrade one weapon.

After I got 6 of everyone's weapons and all of lightning's weapons (tier 2 and I tier 3) and 90% of the accessories I started selling them to get the money to pay for what I needed. It was much faster but I recommend you save before doing doing this. This really is the only way to make things a little easier/faster cause the prices in this game is bs.
I see you're using the Polaris Specials, which I guess would be good for getting the stagger up with their MAG. However, my friend has told me that it's more effective on the COM side if you use Hyades Magnums, which would be true since they have 1040 STR, but no MAG. Do you think this strategy that you're using would work just as well with said magnums, since the COM side of it would be quicker, but with no MAG, would the stagger still go up as quickly even with bad damage? Thanks.
Hope gets Hastega, has the best MP and Magic power which makes him the best mage and healer. The best DPS team IMO is Fang, Vanille, and Hope. You cover every role optimal. You have the best healer and mage, you have the best sabateur and second best mage, You have the best attacker, second best tank, and second best sab. This raw DPS works under the condition of having enough TP to summon, and enough atk investment. And at the stage they're in they have the final ATB gauge and access to all roles so you're spliting hairs about how its easy.

@uaechibi of course! in the order of strength from weakest to strongest it goes adamantortoise with hp in the 3 millions, adamantoise with over 5mil and the long gui with hp in the 16 millions. Yeah final fantasy 13 isnt the best final fantasy but I cant say its one of the worst either. the only thing that pissed me off about the game is that you don't earn money from battles. I spent 95% of the game broke and that treasure hunter trophy/achievement is bullshit.

It can be done easily, since with Sahz, Vanille and Snow you will have all roles available only from the main ones. Sahz has COM/RAV/SYN, Vanille has SAB/MED/RAV and Snow has COM/RAV/SEN. That's not even a challenge.

Hey I am level 4 on all characters and im in edenhall can someone please help me, I keep getting beat up by the Proudclad II...Can someone tell me how to gain cp fast?
I've beat the game and maxed out single roles for each of my party, but your party must have something mine doesn't because every time the adamantoise stomps, it takes around 11,000-12,000 HP. All the videos I've seen on here (including yours), when it stomps it only takes 5,000-6,000HP. What's up with that?
Okay. I just didn't think that maxing out everything else would reduce damage by more than 50%. But alas, I guess this isn't something I can shortcut my way around. :-)
Why the heck does this give you 80000 CP (or 40000 if you're not using CPx2)? The enemies I run into do MUCH more damage and my characters are better equipped. Is this before you complete the 6 stones and have the enemies upgrade on pulse, and if so, why do they still give so much CP?
Yo i see you got around 13 thousands of HP, and i've heard you cant max out your characters before beating the game so i ask you, is there any way to beat Adamantoise before beating the game? I'm really sick of dying, it seems impossible
It can be done after you defeat the boss of chapter 11 (and before you take the ship into Cocoon). Defeating that boss unlocks "Death" from the Saboteur role in the stage 9 crystarium. There's several videos explaining the death spam method, but it's certainly annoying and takes a long while to pull off, you need a lot of luck and patience.

If Vanile has Death, you can try that worked for me.

If you highlight Attack the hold Right on the D-pad you get the option to repeat the last action. Might make it a bit faster.

Upgrade too an ultimate weapon and it gives you the 6th ATB gauge slot

You should use either all Strikes or all Spells in your ATB Queue. It's faster, so you can get to your next Queue faster.

I actually got incredibly lucky and had Vanille cast death, and you can guess what happend.
It will deal more damage if you use Sazh's blitz with Enthunder enhancement.
The technique with fang is better and dont need summon. Goid video tho , love you sazh

With that much HP and 4 slot accessories,I don't think there is any need to kill Adamantoise with summon anymore.

You don't need the stage 10 crystarium to beat it, you can even beat long gui without stage 10 and fully upgraded weapons.

Personally I think snow and Sahz are underplayed THEY have some awesome toys to play with too you know
+Matthew cass My team right now is Vanille, Sazh, and Lightning but I'm thinking about getting rid of Lightning.. I'M NEVER REMOVING SAZH though... This challenge is pretty easy...
It can be done easily, since with Sahz, Vanille and Snow you will have all roles available only from the main ones. Sahz has COM/RAV/SYN, Vanille has SAB/MED/RAV and Snow has COM/RAV/SEN.

I've beat the game and maxed out single roles for each of my party, but your party must have something mine doesn't because every time the adamantoise stomps, it takes around 11,000-12,000 HP. All the videos I've seen on here (including yours), when it stomps it only takes 5,000-6,000HP. What's up with that?
Single roles won't always do. It's best to have maxed out everything. Maxing out weapons and equipment is also good.
Okay. I just didn't think that maxing out everything else would reduce damage by more than 50%. But alas, I guess this isn't something I can shortcut my way around. :-)
In fact, with the right equipment, with Snow as a Sentinel, he can take less than 1% damage! Amazing, right? :D
i think he has the Earth Elemental reducing accessories equipped.
Dorgengoa2080 Does Stomp do physical damage? If does, maxed Black Belts can help a lot.

this isnt as fast as you say it is so "fastest" as you say depends on how well you can get back up to 3 TP and do this again...

Why the heck does this give you 80000 CP (or 40000 if you're not using CPx2)? The enemies I run into do MUCH more damage and my characters are better equipped. Is this before you complete the 6 stones and have the enemies upgrade on pulse, and if so, why do they still give so much CP?
Because of end game. They are the best source of gil and cp requirement is massive at stage 10.

Yo i see you got around 13 thousands of HP, and i've heard you cant max out your characters before beating the game so i ask you, is there any way to beat Adamantoise before beating the game? I'm really sick of dying, it seems impossible
It can be done after you defeat the boss of chapter 11 (and before you take the ship into Cocoon). Defeating that boss unlocks "Death" from the Saboteur role in the stage 9 crystarium. There's several videos explaining the death spam method, but it's certainly annoying and takes a long while to pull off, you need a lot of luck and patience.
