It's crazy how far technology has come within just one decade. S3 had some of the best commercials back in the day.

For technology advancing so fast, there will be consequences.. such as not having a needed upgrade from a new phone, because the newer phones like in 2024 or 2025 won't be much different from now.

yeah basic non-flagship smartphones of the time had either 512mb or 1gb of ram and would lag the fuck out while doing very basic tasks like opening the camera app or browsing the web, 2GB of ram is still relatively usable by today's standards so I'd say yeah in 2012 2GB of ram was definitely more than impressive.

Apple optimizes the batteries on their phones so that even a smaller battery lasts longer than a comparable sized battery for android. it's just a funny observation because if Apple maximized the battery capacity possible in their phones they could have some crazy good battery life! Hooo, 10 years. I was in the 11th grade, a Junior in Highschool when this came out. It was my first touchscreen smartphone, and it was a massive jump from flip phones and slide phones. I think it still holds up today, it still looks really good. We have 250gb-1tb of storage on phones now, and instead of 2gb of ram most phones run anywhere from 4gb up to 16gb of ram, and a 5.5 inch display is standard in even budget phones today. Crazy that technology and trends can make 10 years ago feel like 100 years ago lol

I remember getting that phone, upgrading from my Motorola Droid (remember that one?). When I first unpacked it I thought "Bugger, I've unleashed the devil - this screen is way too big!". Now I marvel at how I ever managed to get around using a screen as tiny as that! Loved that phone to bits (just like the Motorola I had before), and when it finally retired and I got my G3 I thought the same thing: "Blimey, what have I done? I'll never get used to this screen!". Gave the S3 to my ex (after she'd managed to mess up the power button on the Droid I'd given her), a week later she'd dropped it and ruined the screen. I'm sure there's a lesson here somewhere, not sure what it is though...

I think samsung is doing this deliberately to force people to upgrade to a newer phone.. Proof: samsung tries to force me to update to 4.2 now I have downgraded to 4.1.2. It is hard to believe that Samsung S III is a phone used to break your bank just a decade ago. It feels like it is just yesterday. 10 years ago, I am so envious of people around me who do have it. You look rich for having it back then. It is still useful if you flash it with the latest custom rom cuz it has 4g like many of the newer budget phones. It maybe not a worthy everyday phone today but it can still be useful if you are a lightweight user and want a small but capable smartphone with a removable battery.

Hahaha, yeah except for the fact that the iPhone uses iris sensors which is far mkre secure than the face unlock method used on the S3 as well as the S10. TBH, I dont even know why Samsung decided to remove it on their latest phone because it work quiet well on my S9+

OK, so this is a shot in the dark, but I have a quick question. I just got this phone (the Verizon LTE version), and have the latest Cyanogenmod version on it (official 10.2) stable. I LOVE it! But, something keeps bugging me. In your video, you say that you're able to get a full day out of it with moderate usage (about 12 hours and then some battery to spare). However, I'm not even getting close to that under the same usage conditions, even turning LTE data off. What settings did you used on your SIII?
Keep up the great work on your videos; they're concise, well presented, and extremely informative. You quickly made me into a subscriber!

Looking at this review in 2015: the galaxy s3 design made the high-end smartphones look like how they look like now. And for the fluidity, my advise is to flash the blisspop rom (it's a cyanogen look alike rom, and it's much more stable)
