Despite the damage and repair i'm really pleased with it, would probably buy another Chibson.

@@billgonzalez7120 Definitely not a scam! If you watched the video, you saw the guitar. Yes, it IS a knockoff; like virtually everything on AliExpress.

You wouldnt be able see if it had a scarfe joint with that thickness of finish over it! For that amount of money I can asssure you the appointments will not be Epiphone quality, have you seen the latest Inspired by Gibson Epiphones LPs they are top notch, with Gibson pickups!.
My understanding is back when Gibson contracted China to make guitars for them built a few Gibson factories , years later when Gibson no longer had their guitars built by China, China still had Gibson factories , so they continued to make Gibsons in China , Thus Chibson.
I have been on the fence about buying a Chibson. I buy other Chinese guitars so I am not sure why. I'm pretty sure they are made in the same factories as some of my FF, HB and the like. I always expect to do a full setup and fret work. I'm never shocked when I have to replace hardware, pickups and electronics. I see some awesome guitars I can't afford but would love to have around to mod and play so I think the next purchase will be through Polaris4music or another retailer. I'm not big on brand names as I don't get paid to sponsor any brands and I don't care what people think about my collection. I just love to play. It's too bad I have not heard good things about the Earnie Ball MM Armada replicas. I love the design of that guitar!
I took a chance on a Chibson, because it had the look that I really liked-Les Paul custom with a quilted antique natural top and gold hardware.I paid $300. It did need a few frets leveled, nut replaced, pickups and wiring harness (epiphone pro buckers with coil splits, from ali express $50) poker chip and pickguard. I'm all in at $520. No regrets on my part. The guitar looks, sounds, and best of all, plays fantastic. BTW the fretboard on mine is ebony-not stained rosewood.
Where did you order that from, if you don't mind me asking? I bought a Firefly "custom spalted maple" LP last year for about $200, including shipping, and although it looks fantastic, they must have freehanded the upper neck and headscarf joint, since it's so visually crooked I'm surprised it made it past even Chinese quality control. The one in this video looks amazing. I'd totally understand someone buying those for a student or working guitarist.
I have yet to order a knockoff LP but I have seen and tried several. Some are amazing and if you do not know Gibson well you could be fooled. Today the knock offs are getting better the only thin I can see on this one and i might be wrong is the frets go over the binding. Gibson frets end at the fret board and the binding is filed to the fret a lot of knockoffs miss that. The shape of the headstock and look wrong and the knob layout not quite right but unless you have a real LP to compare it to it's very hard. I watched the other vid and it sounds pretty good. Eventually I'll pick one up but it's probably going to be something like a Zakk Wylde signature.
Gibson changed the headstock shapes and pot placement over the deades meaning there isnt one standard Gibson headstock shape (still openbook but dimensions have changed over te years)
Went ahead and SUB' d , you. Want to see the playing video. Im sure it will sound fine tho. Being that the 100 or more new lowend guitars i have tried did. Enjoy, and see ya on your next video i guess. :)
I'll tell you a trick I learned about opening the styrofoam containers and not making a mess of your home. Take it over to a friend's house and open it.
CNC has proven to be the great equalizer when it comes to making guitars. Unless the world chooses to reverse or severely limit the current technology, you can't stop this.
Wait did a friend send it to you or did the Chinese send you your fake Gibson? Cause you certainly were impressed that it was almost in tune coming straight from China.
Just like Epiphones the real differences between them and authentic Gibsons are deep down not at the surface . Despite what many think it's not the same wood and construction.
Awesome guitar. Ive never owned a chibson. I want one. But i have bought 2 firefly fflp Style guitars. From guitars garden. Their made in china. And i noticed my firefly LP guitars have the same identical headstock shape as my 1978 ibanez. Coincidence or a reason i do not know. But it certainly made me go hhhmmmm. My most expensive firefly was 219 U.S. Dollars. And they are really really nice instruments. Only reason i dont have more of them. Is because i wanted be with my wife 37 not 36 years.😮
If I took a shot every time you said wow I'd be wasted that's impressive for a supposedly cheap Chinese copy.. I've seen video reviews of actual Gibson's where the owner was upset because of paint issues and stuff marks straight from the factory
Yeah, I'd prefer they actually label them "Chibson." They'd probably sell just as many anyway. And no breaking the law (maybe apart from headstock trademarks).
I’ve played one of those and they are nice but they are definitely not as good as a real custom. I’ve played them side by side and you can really tell the difference.
Wow, that's an amazing comparison, and close to what I'm looking to upgrade from. Mine is a 2015 Epiphone "Slash" LP. Fine for practice or whatever, but not what I'd consider to be gigging quality, and it was quite a bit more than $200.
@@MaximusBakerGuitar Wow! So all a chipson needs to be equal to a custom shop is a neck adjustment? Haha! Please you have no idea what you’re talking about.
I didn't mention anything about adjustments. Theres a lot involved with setting up a guitar properly. The only thing really different in the Gibson vs Chibson build quality is Gibson picks better slabs of wood and they have top tier laser routing machines. The guys that make chibsons basically make them the same way 50 years ago by hand tools. Chibson's routing isn't the best but who's gonna tell unless you open up the back plates and lift the pickups. @@Panic42000
I hate these knock-offs they should have to brand them with a big " C" for counterfit . They've screwed up the market so bad it's killing the Real builders not just Gibson but many others .
'' I can't guarantee that if you order one, you'll get the same quality ''... TBH you can't even guarantee that with a real Gibson 😂 back in 06' i went guitar shopping and was looking for a Les Paul.. Tried about 5 Gibsons and ended up buying an Epiphone because the Gibsons were dreadful and so inconsistent, the Epiphone was actually better.
What confuses me dearly is this, and I don't mean any offense, but. I get that your just interested how good or bad chibson's are however, I thought the U.S hated China. So why do business with them in any form? I have several Gibson's straight out of the U.S, and wouldn't think twice about buying another should I need one. Quality guitars made by real craftsmen in a country that has pride in what they do. I guess we are all so used to the instant gratification that China gives us, despite what we think of them. We're all guilty I suppose. Get a Gibson and start a love hate relationship I say 😂
yap yap half way through the video and still That guitar aint plugged in? you more worried about cosmetics ? instead how it really sounds!! aint that suppose to be the purpose of this video? My LORD ONE piece body!! its through neck ! everyone knows that neck was set glued in!!!lol!!
I never said it was neck through. I said the body was one piece and the neck was one piece. Everybody knows Les Pauls (and the overwhelming majority of Gibsons) have glued-in necks.
Awesome! I hate Gibson now! You couldn't give me a real Gibson guitar of any kind. Their work is shit and their customer service is exactly the same! After they told me that I would have to drive 100 miles to put a small knob the came BROKEN FROM THE FACTORY I would never buy anything from them again!!!!!!! They can go to HELL! I bought the SG Studio model from them in 1997 - the same year it was made. It had all sort of problems where it had been repainted and there was a crack in between the volume and tone that went into the backside of the control cavity. There was a blue X on the back of one of the potentiometers. The knob on that pot was broken! What this means is that it was dropped, touched up, rewired, then sent out as a BRAND NEW GUITAR to the local dealer in my town. How and why I just had to be the one to get it is beyond me. But after that experience I'm done with Gibson Guitars forever! I haven't even bought so much as guitar pick from them since. I would definitely buy a CHIBSON just to piss them off and give them a real run for their money which they ask WAAAYYY too much for their junk guitars! Good score on that LP Custom. I've seen a lot of beautiful work from China - much better than any official Gibson made in USA. But I don't want anything that says Gibson on it in my house or in my guitar collection.

Gibson maximizes profits as much as any company. They're able to sell some 17,000 units worldwide per year, & they know what consumers are willing to spend. They adjust price as demand goes up and down.
The point is that there is really no similarity between an actual LP and these cheap counterfeit knockoffs, aside from appearance & branding. Why people compare them at all makes no sense. Don't care what some YTuber with a bunch of guitar cases says. That's just idiotic --adjust your thinking
No sound samples sir .... ?
where can i order?
Who is the seller on Ali? Ty
I’ve heard lots of good and bad about the China LP’s. But for that price, I don’t think one can complain. Could buy 20 of them for the price of one real one. I’m sure in that 20, a few are bound to be almost perfect!
Just imagine if this was actually the standard that the Chinese builders have risen to.
I bought one of those "lawsuit" Japanese built Les Paul's back in the late 70's, my first decent guitar - paid $110, plus I put a decent set of tuners on it for about $20, which was the only thing obviously not up to "Gib" quality standards (they came with open tuners, not individual, and looked like something from a classical style guitar).
Everything looked and felt like it was from a guitar costing at least $750, which was about what you could buy the cheapest Les Paul 'Studio' for at the time. Pickups were potted, and sounded good. All of the electronics were matching with what was being used by Gibson except for the output jack which was still good enough that I didn't need to replace it. It was fully bound, had a copycat "Custom" headstock, but the name was different - and I don't remember what it was. Didn't matter to me. It played.
After my guitar teacher set it up he remarked how if he closed his eyes he couldn't tell the difference between his own Gibson and the knock-off.
He owned the shop I bought it from, and he was the one who was trying to help me out with everything including letting me pay for it over the summer (I was still in middle school), and it was his recommended 1st guitar for students.
Gibson sued those companies, and they didn't even try to copy the logo's or match everything like tuners.
There's no way they can chase after every Chinese guitar building outfit today and still focus on their own internal issues with quality and affordability.
Today I could afford to buy a "real" Les Paul, but after many years of playing Epiphone's licensed versions, I can't justify the cost just to have that name on the headstock.. But I'd totally buy one of these to hang on the wall!
Can't wait to hear how it sounds... And where it came from. That truly can't be "the cheapest Ali Express" version.. Amazing quality for the price.
a great one is only decent
I've heard alot of complaints about Gibson's and quality control for standards.
Why would someone with no interest in buying one and an attitude that they are crap period be watching these videos except if they secretly want to get one to see if all the fuss is real.
Could you please give the sellers name or link?

Wait a minute, what is this ali express? Just knock offs? I went to the site and was shocked and confused. I am looking to buy an Epi modern, is this site a realistic option? or just a scam?
@@billgonzalez7120 Definitely not a scam! If you watched the video, you saw the guitar. Yes, it IS a knockoff; like virtually everything on AliExpress.

Then you said Burial Shroud
I have one but not from Ali, actually spoke to a cool guy that took my custom order. The guitar is "black beauty" style les paul.. The pearl inlays look phenomenal and the guitar sounds great.
I have a real Gibson les paul studio 2016, and i would say the chibson on the level.
I bought a used Chibson that was pretty horrible. Yours looks great in comparison. Who was the seller/store?
I've seen/played a few awful Chibsons myself. They've definitely stepped up their game.
Here was the seller for mine:

Let's keep it quiet.. Last time I tried to buy one of these guitars that were "as seen on YT", they were sold out, then changed to a different neck, and the price went up by $45... 🤫

You wouldnt be able see if it had a scarfe joint with that thickness of finish over it! For that amount of money I can asssure you the appointments will not be Epiphone quality, have you seen the latest Inspired by Gibson Epiphones LPs they are top notch, with Gibson pickups!.

Keep buying overpriced junk then.
You have to take care of YOU! If it makes you happy, it's good; regardless of the name on the headstock.

Gibson changed the headstock shapes and pot placement over the deades meaning there isnt one standard Gibson headstock shape (still openbook but dimensions have changed over te years)
If it's painted how can you tell if it has a scarf joint or multiple pieces in the body? 🤔
It isn't painted, it's stained. You can clearly see the wood grain through the finish.
I was wondering that, looks painted to me, also ebony is jet black.
Can you put the link to the seller.
Email me and I'll give you the info. rickenbackeranonymous@gmail.com

This is BRILLIANT!!!
A toy to hang on the wall.
CNC has proven to be the great equalizer when it comes to making guitars. Unless the world chooses to reverse or severely limit the current technology, you can't stop this.
Better wash your hands after touching it. There’s no telling what chemicals are on that.
Man, I don't even wash my grapes!
But in all seriousness, I thoroughly cleaned and polished it when I was restringing and setting it up. All good.
Wait did a friend send it to you or did the Chinese send you your fake Gibson? Cause you certainly were impressed that it was almost in tune coming straight from China.
I feel bad for the trees that have to die to make these pieces of shit.
Just like Epiphones the real differences between them and authentic Gibsons are deep down not at the surface . Despite what many think it's not the same wood and construction.
Gibson's fake ebony was "Richlite".
That's it! Thank you.
You need one guitar more
They always get the pickup ring screws wrong. Black plastic rings should have black screws.
Y'know, you're right. It didn't occur to me until you pointed it out.
I'll have to get some back screws and swap them all out eventually. Good call!
It would be great if you could let us know what company that shipped from. Thanks!

Awesome guitar. Ive never owned a chibson. I want one.
But i have bought 2 firefly fflp
Style guitars.
Is because i wanted be with my wife 37 not 36 years.😮
Firefly makes some great guitars. I was very impressed with the 338 model I owned.
Can we get this right. It is not a Les Paul unless it was made by Gibson.
If I took a shot every time you said wow I'd be wasted that's impressive for a supposedly cheap Chinese copy.. I've seen video reviews of actual Gibson's where the owner was upset because of paint issues and stuff marks straight from the factory
I hate they get away with selling these with the Gibson Brand. It's just wrong!
Yeah, I'd prefer they actually label them "Chibson." They'd probably sell just as many anyway. And no breaking the law (maybe apart from headstock trademarks).
What ever. Gibson selling bad quality control for thousands is just wrong.
I’ve played one of those and they are nice but they are definitely not as good as a real custom. I’ve played them side by side and you can really tell the difference.
It definitely plays better than my 2008 Epiphone LP Custom.
Wow, that's an amazing comparison, and close to what I'm looking to upgrade from. Mine is a 2015 Epiphone "Slash" LP.
Fine for practice or whatever, but not what I'd consider to be gigging quality, and it was quite a bit more than $200.
If you set up a chibson the same way as a $5000 custom they will play the same. Assuming if you gave both guitars proper hardware

Better than Gibson

If you’d be happy with that you’d also, presumably, be happy with your own livelihood being undermined by fraud.

yap yap half way through the video and still That guitar aint plugged in? you more worried about cosmetics ? instead how it really sounds!! aint that suppose to be the purpose of this video?
I'd rather drop a ton of money on a real one before I gave China anymore money. Cool looking fake though.
