- The Kove 450 Rally demo bike has been getting excellent reviews, but how does the US production version stand up? Did we get swindled? I'm happy to report that the production version is BETTER than the demo version!
0:00 introduction
0:20 How is the Kove 450 Rally Production Version different from the demo version?
1:16 Registration and that super scary "Competition Use" warning!
1:30 Cockpit mods I've done on day one.
2:17 We're actually doing a motovlog!
2:25 Setting traction control off doesn't have a dongle, but it's easily switched off.
2:45 First "off road diggies" on some single track! How does it feel at lower speeds?
4:03 Sad the production version (like the demo) doesn't come with hand guards. I'll go with flags instead.
4:35 Check out Warren's channel and tell him thanks for helping me get my motovlog mic setup! / lcarsadv
5:04 Why are you riding so slow?
6:35 The brakes aren't Nissin brakes, but they're still fantastic.
7:19 What this bike excels at...
7:40 This is a true rally bike! Many Chinese built motorcycles are meant to be very inexpensive for markets in developing countries. Kove isn't. They're quality oriented with a focus on racing, and need to get off on the right foot with a good reputation.
9:24 Wanna see a legit review from a Baja 1000 and Dakar winner who KNOWS motorcycles? Check out Jimmy Lewis' review of the Kove 450 Rally on Dirt Bike Test: • KOVE FSE450R Rally | D...
13:40 How does it lug at low rpm?
14:10 Seating position.
14:54 Tires on the Kove 450 Rally and what I'll switch to for more aggressive riding.
17:26 I should have an exclusive coupon coming soon for at least $200 off the Kove 450 Rally. Check the channel for updates. I'll post when it happens.
18:15 How much does it cost to insure?
19:50 Outro and much love! (Bad audio because my mic fell out of my helmet haha!)

I'd buy one now but it may not be until next year there is a road legal version. We can't do dual sport conversions in CA. Thank you Tyler for doing this for all of us. It's a compelling bike! Keep the great info coming.
Register it in another state
Another reason not to live in California.btw I like your videos and watched the vstrom video ya did and I think they did that one absolutely right..
hope this bike does well and Kove can really stick it to the big names. Competition is always good for the consumer
It's built with slave labor, bro.
I wish Kove every success with their 450 Rally so BMW and the big four Japanese manufacturers will finally be forced to sell us the lightweight adventure bikes we want instead of the heavy adventure bikes they want us to have. A 450 cc single is the sweet spot between being light enough to be very capable off road and having enough power to comfortably cruise on the highway when that's needed.
Great update! Hoping the best for Kove and their buyers.
Thx! Great to see and hear! Besides your focus on the off-road capabilities I’m also very keen on how it performs (long) distance onroad…. So if you happen to get experience under those conditions please share
Greatings
Boy, do I hope a distributor will start selling it in NZ/AUS, I think it would suit our riding requirements really well and sell like hot cakes
I don't see why they wouldn't, from what I've seen they'd love a bike like this.
I’m in Aus. Not sure the Chinese thing will go down well. The 790s from KTM (made in China) have left a bad taste in the mouth of a few people I know.
I welcome the bike coming to market the 450 size set up with range/suspension like this is probably in the unicorn zone. Just need someone outside of china to sit up and decide it’s worth competing with it.
I think it will end up like Great Wall with utes (pickups). Something that looks ok if on a tight budget but not something you would buy if you really need to rely on it.
A drz400/650 (new or Used) with whatever “bold new graphics” you like and an extended tank and some $ on suspension would make for a more reliable light outback travel bike and something in the enduro range from the Austrians orange/red/white would make for a better enduro/hard offroad.
This bike from Kawasaki/Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha (not made in china) with a little more power and with their dealer network… now that would create a waiting list at dealers.
I believe there is an importer on it but I know for a fact these need ADR compliance. This takes time & they are wary of bikes/cars coming from OS with any, and I mean any whiff of asbestos. CFMOTO have just released a 450MT twin but it’s much heavier.
I’m looking seriously at it. This is the type of bike we’ve been asking for for years and at a fair price. I’d love to see them destroy Ktm’s strangle hold and price gouging.
This was the type of video that made me fall in love with your channel. Thanks for what you do! This bike has me excited about riding again too!!🤙
So good to see you back on the moto vlogs! Awesome on the bike. Love to see you put it through the paces with 40lbs of camping gear wrapped into rackless bags--both in the dirt (not necessarily single track), and on at least secondary highways. Also...re-weigh, please!
Imagine Japan releasing a much heralded dual sport 450 which had terrible fueling problems, was relatively gutless and tiny fuel capacity? Thats right, that was the CRF450L and it wasn't hounded out of existence. This bike runs rings around the Honda yet there has been masses of China build-hate. Time to wait and see how it goes but this is a promising start.
To be fair honda took a off road use bike make for racing and made it worse and tried to pass emissions with it. This is an entirely different animal and I guarantee this will not last as long as long as the Honda. Time will tell for this but people who have been screwed by Chinese quality before have a reason to be hesitant for this.
Yes, we need to be patient and see how it performs in the next year or so. If you want an example of riders being screwed, I give you the KTM 790/890 twins. So many problems since their release its appalling. By the way, I own both a 500 and 690 so am not a KTM hater. @@jaybosher6144
I hope Kove has a lot of success with this bike. It would be great as the lightweight adventure bike so many of us are dying for if it had a more comfortable seat, taller windscreen, quieter exhaust, etc. I love so much about this bike - huge fuel capacity, air cleaner easily accessible by removing the seat, plastic panels that are easily removed without tools, easy to ride and service, etc.
I"m not even put off by the lack of dealer support. I do my own wrenching. As long as Kove ships parts anywhere in the world, we're good.
I hope this finally convinces BMW and the big four Japanese manufacturers to make lightweight adventure bikes. They're stubbornly stuck on selling us 850 and 1300 cc pigs that are road bikes with off road styling. When the market finally forced them to add a small adventure bike to their lineup, they were still heavy for their size and definitely designed and marketed as entry level beginner bikes to get new riders on the upgrade path to their more expensive bikes. A 450 cc single cylinder adventure bike is the sweet spot between being light enough to perform well off road and powerful enough to do some highway riding when needed, although I do as little of that as possible.
Agree 100%
So far so good. Time will tell how reliable the KOVE will be.
Awesome seeing you out on the kove motovloging again!
Anything that makes Tyler excited enough to want to put out more videos must be a worthwhile product.
He has a vested interest.
Great to see you out on the new bike. Looks like alot of fun!
Very seriously considering one of these. Look forward to see more from your adventures and setup / mods with this bike.
Vlog! Nice to see you out there - glad you're having a good time :)
Audio was great. Thank you for sharing! Keep it going and I’ll keep watching. Thanks dude.
Dude, you are simply slaying it!!! Great video, good on you for becoming a dealer and following your dream!!
Good to see you really enjoy the bike. Great vid like the old days in your moto vlogs.
This makes me so happy! I know how long you've been waiting for your unicorn! I get so giddy just watching this!
You have come so far. The riding is outstanding. Super excited for the Kove. Rode one at Giant Loop. Hope to come ride with you next year. All the best Tyler.
So glad to see you happy with that bike! Looking forward to seeing more content!
I've been looking forward to this vid. Good stuff!
Looking forward to following your journey with the KOVE 450. Exactly the type of machine I am after and they type of riding I enjoy. On a tricked out Himalayan at the moment - in Australia and hoping these come our way and are reliable!
Great to see you so excited about a bike. I did really like you motovlogs, you should bring those back again.
So awesome to see you got your hands on one already. I’m planning a Mongolian excursion on 2024 summer, with both kove 450 rally and kove 800x, wish me luck
So glad to see you back on the channel!
Good to see you back making more videos.
Love the motovlog! Gives me nostalgia for your old videos!
I miss seeing you ride on the channel. hopefully, more of that to come. enjoy that new bike!
Happy to see this kind of video again :)
Awesome video mate on a bike I'm keen to buy next year. You are so blessed with the trails you have in your back yard, wonderful stuff👍
Much throttle love!! Must be a good bike to get you motovlogging again...keep it up bud!
Hey Tyler,
Congrats on your bike. I was waiting for your review ever since I learned Kove had started making deliveries.
Please do a drag race video soon as well. I would love to hear that engine at full throttle. Also keep us updated on your overall ownership experience
Cheers
Awesome first ride vid on my radar as next bike 👍🤟
Just got mine about a week ago. I'm coming off of a ADV lite built FE 501 with all the bell and whistles. So far I am pleasantly surprised. The 501 was definitely faster with much better torque. I could do technical singletrack in third gear all day. But the Kove feels lighter and MUCH smoother. I spent a fortune on tuning the WP suspension on the 501. The Kove felt just as good out of the box with a few minor tweaks. Overall, I feel like Kove pulled some magic putting this together. I'm still waiting to see where the weak spot is. But for now, this bike rips!
I think your in the honeymoon phase!
Great bike and great video. More, please!!!
last week, 2 of these bikes, under the local import brand "rvm" did the RUTA 40 Rally raid. one finished, and the other was 1st on its class, but didnt finish the last stage due to an accident and subsecuent pilot airlift rescue.
So it sounds like this would be a great replacement from my DRZ 400 ? About the same weight, 6th gear, 8 gallon tank.....any drawbacks so far?
Awsome. Love you vlogging!
Great content, this will make a great 2nd bike for me.
Fun video! interested to hear more about your tablet mount.
That bike soaks up everything. I have a DRZ and this bikes seems like heaven on the trails. Nice bike!
I'd really love one of these once they're fully street legal and have been around for a little longer. I trust Kove but I have to remain skeptical because I don't have the budget to afford it not working later on down the line.
This is what the T7 should have been. Still trying to buy one of these, but still no supplier in New Zealand.
Thank you for the review. All that I've seen is very positive. But the one question I have is about maintenance? Oil changes specifically. I've been waiting for a good lightweight adv bike or at least a bike that can be used as an adv bike.
Great review and loved the fast river bed section. This has a certain unicorn air to it. Like a lot of older people my need is low weight but decent power. This seems to be capable of road too. Would it work as an “adventure bike”?
Hey still have your old sticker on my klr. I only really watch motovlogs, first time back in a long time. Love the vlog
You sound like a very honest reviewer.
If this thing proves to be reliable and sturdy then it is the unicorn dualsport. Powerful, lightweight, huge fuel capacity, under 10k. I hope this sparks other companies to bring out competitive bikes in that price range.
Cool bike, let's see how well it holds up long term.
dude!! you got one… nice, cool rally bike
Good luck with the stones fella. Ive had a good few and they are not a fun happy time. Interested in your tablet mount.
Yea! A motovlog! It's been a while... It's like a flashback, but with a new bike!
Is this going to be the moment for the Chinese like the introduction of the Honda CB750 was the moment for the Japanese?
Thank you!
Hey Tyler awesome video! Been waiting for another of your "brutally honest reviews"
This bike seems like it's the unicorn.
How do you think she would handle with luggage rack, fully loaded with travelling equipment (tent, clothes tools and spares etc...)?
How about the seat on a long multi days/weeks rides ?
I mounted a 10" Samsung tablet on top of a handlebar mounted Pelican 1060 waterproof case that I use as a glove box on my G310GS in lieu of a tank bag. I love the big tablet for offline GPS navigation using the OSMand app. I made a default ADV Bike profile that routes me off the highways and onto the back roads. If I want even more back road adventure, I set a couple of waypoints that forces OSMand to take me off the major secondary roads and onto back roads, some of which are gravel.
Thanks Everide!
Other than the lack of tie downs you mentioned, what do you think about this as an ADV bike?
How would you compare to KTM 500 EXC-F
They done a dragrace earlier, and the kove is like same as fast as the kato. In this video he says the kove has now more power than the pre launched bike..
The exc is proven.
This is first year production.
And I have not checked recently- but probably the KTM is 3,000 more.USD.
I can set up a exc to work on tight single track or huge long sand washes.
This bike IS a rally bike- huge gas tank stock.
Just wait a few years for the aftermarket guys to open up the engine and shed some weight
8 GALLONS OF FUEL ??? holey cow balls batman i LOVE THAT !! wow i wonder what the diff is ibetween thie standard and the pro-race to justify the huge price diff as reading the specs looks the same ??
Really want to get one of these, hope it comes to Australia
Love your motovlog... Looking at the video it appears the suspension is stiff... can you comment on the suspension and motor power delivery in detail in a separate video please?
THanks,,,
A motovlog! I cant believe what I’m seeing.
AWESOME! I'm wondering how it will be for comfort on an all day ride on dirt roads. I do a lot of that on my DRZ. I HATE long rides like that on my KTM 450 EXC-F Six days. (this is the main reason I still have my DRZ)
wow that thing looks good
😆 totally agree with your tire preferences. Big blocks are just for show, change my mind.
Hope these things take off. CFmoto need to get into the midsized enduro. They already have the solid engines
Bike looks GREAT!!! But I gotta know, what you recording and editing with???? This is the nicest helmet cam footage I have ever seen!!!!!
Sorry if I missed it! How does it feel at highway speeds (75-80 mph). Thanks for the great video!
ECU v1.4 remap vs. preproduction maybe? Steering damper OEM add on?
If this bike is the success I think it will be, maybe it will motivate Honda or any of the big names to follow suit.
Do you think Reklus has a clutch that may fit?
Where are you riding in your vids ? Are those areas just outside St. George ?
Which steering stabilizer did you fit?
KOVE TIME! WOOOHOOOO
Did you get the rally map or the standard map?
If you'd like a former semi-pro racer's thoughts on it I'd be happy to go for a rip with you if I get out to St. George next year. I will admit that I have some very serious doubts about this thing's durability and reliability given that it is chinese and several of my friends and family have had nothing but issues with chinese bikes like Zongshen and CF Moto but the Kove could always be the first to prove itself
You pay for what you get in life. Especially in the motorcycle industry. There's definitely gonna be downsides to buying cheaper Chinese made bikes.
Now im gonna have to get me one of these, you where the tie breaker on my klr650 lol..
As a T7 owner I’m so interested in seeing how this bike does but, as you quickly point out, it’s not a technical single track enduro machine. It’s still a relatively bike bike with a tower and windscreen ultimately obstructing line of sight. I still may get one but my enduro machine will remain in the garage.
Here's hoping it explodes in popularity so it gets a lot of aftermarket parts support and challenges other bike makers.
Good VLOG little brother. I'd love to ride one around here in Arkansas. But, No dealers even close and I'd want to sell my Africa anyway.
Great bike :-) I now what you mean with mmmm there’s a lot of water past here. But this bikes (with the stock tires0 handelde it great … as you did.
The promotional videos all claimed the dash could be used as a sat nav linking with think rider app - off road gpx files could then be viewed through the dash whilst speed and basic info were still retained but not showing so prominently nobody is covering this - does it work???
I watched your original review. I have been looking for something like this. And I'd love to do one of your events as well. Turns out I am just north of you in Cedar. My cousin was telling me to look for a used Husqvarna FE350. I wanted something small and agile but could still do some adventure riding. Right now I'm just going around the mtns in an old Fat Cat. haha. Maybe I can take you flying in trade for having you take me around some trails.
Are you riding the street version? Or the non EPA version in this video please?
Are these 50 state legal? I'm in CA
Fun..👍
How does it compare to the 450RL? 690/701 ?
Seat height an issue? Even the low version is 36 inch which is quite high also 🤔
Aaaand now I want one...
I'm considering selling the big bore wr250r to get one. I was kinda waiting it out to see how well the actual production models compared to the demos, as well as some parts availability concerns. I really want one though!
I’m considering selling my wr250r too for the kove. Would be giving up one of the most reliable bikes for unknown reliability on the kove though
I'm in the same boat except I'd be selling a fully tricked out klx300. I'm waiting until January at least to see what the owners experience with the consumer production models.
@@inrptn yeah my WR250R is tricked out with seatconcepts seat, oversize fuel tank, upgraded suspension, aftermatket pipe, fuel programmer, aftermarket bar with risers, luggage racks, bashplate, widepegs etc
Available in Canada?
Any update on your discount code? I'll order one when you have it.
Just an anecdotal survey but the most common used bike for sale in my neck of the woods is the 450cc 4Ts. Just a whole lot more power than casual trail riders can use.
Correct, but this is a dualsport/light adv. this bike won’t compete on single track with any proper mx 250-350cc 4t. It’s not meant to be a single track weapon though
@@slakk5093 the marketing I have seen is all pointing it out as a competitive rally machine. That isn't a loafing along, dual sport application. I do think the ADV demographic growth suffers from so many large displacement/high power ADV bikes that weight 500 lbs or more WITHOUT 80 pounds of gear strapped to it. I see the BDR trails on RUclips. You really don't want to go solo because no one person can stand a bike back up when it falls over. SO perhaps there is a trend to lighter ADV bikes. The guys I know around here who are ADV enthusiasts buy 250s and 300s.
What’s the service intervals like? Looks and sounds like an awesome bike.
It's a Chinese bike so the service intervals are most likely "always".
@@haywoodyoudome well that’s not necessarily true. The SOHC version of this engine was very reliable. Just because it’s Chinese doesn’t mean it’s rubbish. Just remember, a lot of the high end components from the other brands are sourced from China.
@@streddaz nah it's more fun to make edgy jokes about Chinese always breaking...amirite?
@@inrptn lol
It's very cool. I wish KTM would sell their 450 rally replica.
They do but it costs 30k and they are limited😂
Is it better than a ktm 500?
GOnna wait a couple of years to see if the bikes are reliable and then decide between teh AJP Pr7 and this.
Ohhhh Maaan ! I’ve had some gruesome injuries. All a walk in the park vs Kidney Stones ! 😫. Unless youve had (them/one), you just won’t understand ….
nice
