George The Antique Nomad was just there too! He was saying if you buy a lot they will give you trouble at the border where they'll check over everything and want a list of your purchases. He was at a flea market and didn't buy too much because of that. Have you experienced anything like that?
Welcome to Canada Abigail! 🇨🇦 Glad to see you thrifting on this side of the border again. I’m in Ontario, so it is always fun to see what treasures you find and what thrift stores you visit on the other side of the country. I have to say, we do have pretty good thrifting (depending on where you are located of course), but the prices can be all over the place. Looking forward to your videos from Belgium and the Netherlands!
I am from Vancouver, I now live in Washington state. Thrifting in Canada is great because the European items there are so plentiful because of the amount of immigration from 50’s and back. Value village is great too.
Now you're being welcomed here by all of us Canadians 😂 theres so many here for sure. We lived in Washington before. What we loved about there thrift stores they have washrooms available at every thrift stores. And all the pharmacies have washrooms and Dollartree also. Thats fantastic. Here in British Columbia we dont have this luxury 😂 but really great thrift stores bigger and smaller stores. I've never heard of these stores you're at. I recognized Helen's. The girl swinging. Burnaby BC. I dont reconze this salvation army. What area are you at. I dont go to Vancouver BC much. Not for years. North Vancouver BC has awesome thrift stores. And church thrift shops. And a very huge recreation center full of items . This is a 2 day thing only usually in april. Do you have a problem getting stuff across the line?? Just curious 🤔 Thanks for visiting Vancouver BC Canada 🇨🇦 😊 ✌️
Hello!! I wish I would have spent more time in North Vancouver. Only had a few minutes to shop the Salvation Army and it was soooo good. I’ll definitely be back though since it was such good picking. They’ve closed down a lot of the bathrooms in the US after covid.
I live in Vancouver bc Canada I love the hob or hob too in kitsalaino or my sisters closet in commercial drive and downtown or wildlife thrift store downtown , pearls in Squamish is super cheap clothes and kitchen utensils vases and mugs it’s an hour from Vancouver , whistler rebuild it is so cheap for furniture and reuse it for clothes sports stuff and nick knacks it’s a beautiful city to see beautiful green lake 2 hours from Vancouver all of these give to non profits
Bonjour, I get that Vancouver is an easy access for you being on the West Coast, BUT if you really are interested in vintage, the Montréal area is also very good. The Eastern part of Canada was populated way before the Western part so more older stuff. I know an antic dealer in Vancouver that sources mostly out of Québec and Ontario. Just a thought...
Hey girl great finds I sent my son the the video told him about you my friend . He lives in Abbotsford he is an engineer and buys sells and trades like me and you. Doing a great job wish I could afford a store I have a 30 yr collection of clothing and finds. NEED HELP
Oh he's so lucky!! You're stores are above and beyond what we have. You should do some markets. They're work but clothing is always such a great seller and they're so much fun.
Fun video. We love visiting Vancouver Island, but never went to Vancouver. Question- Do you pay fees at the border for your purchases? Anyway, we will be in Gig Harbor in November (we stay there every fall), interested in the colorful lidded candy dish if it is available. Also, the dog at the end is a Ruby Cavalier King Charles Spaniel... breed originally from England
The timestamp 20:48 to about 23:07 is showing a frozen frame. I almost clicked out of the video and decided to check. Glad I stayed to see it unfreeze.
Such great finds. I’m a vendor and want to ask a question. Obviously you buy what you are attracted to and you have a great eye. But do you ever buy items that just don’t sell? I’m still trying to improve my judgement in what will sell at my booth. Is some of it trial and error or do you just have a special gift? Anyway, I love your videos. They inspire me! Thanks so much for your creativity and your positive vibe!
Yes, I do, everyone does I think. But I also feel like I get better and better as time goes by on choosing right. I think one of my biggest challenges with my booth is that I have to wait for the right person to come along. It’s the same with my online shops, sometimes it can take 2 years and then boom, the right person comes along and buys something that I’ve had forever.
@@AbigailsArtfulAbodethat’s certainly been my experience as well. So then when an item isn’t selling do you pull it for a while? I had this killer old vintage painting of Canada geese that I tried to sell for the past 3 years. Nothing. I put it back in last week and it sold immediately. Crazy business but it is also fascinating. Thanks, Abigail. Btw those bookends are fabulous!!!
@@andreawilkerson2006 I feel like if I didn’t have so much going on I would but I do try to move things around. Lately I have started to move things between my booth, store and online shops and that seems to be helping.
Unless you are thrifting for resale for income, you can become obsessed with objects that pile up and are useless. Yes it's fun to seek and find special objects for minor collections or every day use but it's a waste time and money if you are obsessed with "thrifting". It will destroy your financial future.
Luckily I am a reseller. Even then you need to be careful not to create death piles that never get listed. My place is small so I’m ever mindful not to become overwhelmed with my purchases.

I saw that one! No, fortunately they didn’t say anything although my car was packed to the rafters.
I believe the swan is Blue Mountain Pottery!!
I found that out!
How do you not have a ton more followers? Love your videos here!
One day perhaps but so happy you like them!

So true!
Now I want to visit Canada too. Great video Abigail. Fabulous finds. I'm sure Andi from Allputtogether would love those small needlepoint pictures.
It’s worth visiting! I’m sure she would too. 😀

Yes, and there's no competition from GW who usually runs smaller theft stores out. It's way more diverse there.

It may actually be!

Yes! It’s on my list to visit. I actually love the airport. It’s very nice.
Hi that was a fun trip. What amazing prices . Did you say you were going to the Netherlands? That will be fun. See you next time
I’m here now!
You should come out to the Okanagan and thrift we me we have amazing places 😊. The swan dish is blue mountain…I just sold a cat from them
Sounds great! One day for sure. I feel the farther away from the city the better the thrifting was.

Oh thanks for the info! Just reach out when you’re in the area.
I would put Kleenex in the swan❤
Good idea!

Hi, Where/how do you get coupons for thrift stores? thx
Bring donations. Salvation Army and Value Village will both give you 20% off coupons.
