I'm a 60 year old, old fart guitarist, and extreme Rory fan. I loved every part of this recording. I fills me with joy to hear young folks keeping the spirit of Rory alive.
Another great one! And I'm still amazed at how they switch back and forth on bass and lead-guitar and are equally as talented on both! And just love the brief, harmonizing bass lick by Orlaith at 0:43!!
Great job ladies. There is nothing you cannot do. From Sabbath, Hendrix, Zeppelin to SRV, Rory, Peter Green to Bonnie Raitt, Them/Van Morrison, Cream or CSN, Carly Simon, Carole King and not to mention your ORIGINALS. No matter which one of you is playing guitar or which is on bass or which one of you are singing lead, it's always great.
Lots of love from San Diego where we can feel the spirit of Rory's music still alive in these young musicians. Looking forward to more from them...thank you!
Back when they first started out with, "It wont be like this forever", with Mamie on drums, i knew these girls had what it takes to make it. Prouder than hell of them! Keep rockin' ladies❤
3 fantastic Irish ladies covering a great Irishman’s song and doing an amazing job of it. They are brilliant live looking forward to seeing them again.
Very talented young musicians. All great, I want to give special praise to the drummer. An economical player who does exactly what is needed. This is why we love to play in power trios
Love Dea Matrona, their original material is superb too. Great to see youngsters play tribute to the legendary Rory and do him proud, great slide guitar work and they put their own spin on this making it kinda dancey, bit of a bop. Long live RG, he really was incredible and his music still is !
The thing I like about this most is the way the band has grown in confidence over the past couple of years. They now look like they are enjoying themselves. Which counts for a lot in front of audiences...
Rory was a hero guitarist for all of my waking life. You girls are lucky to have all the elements. I remember when Mamie wasn't sure about staying and she has.. You have now become a tight and extremely dinamic band
Mamie left the band back in February to focus on education. This performance is from the roof top live stream last July. The link was included with the purchase of their vinyl or cassette single last year. So, Mamie did leave.
This is so much more than mere imitation. This is much more musical, because they’re doing their own thing with the song (while remaining respectful). In the early bars there are moments when they sound more like The Taste!
You do know Rory's band were called 'Taste', not 'The Taste'. It makes the distinction that listening to the former means you have good taste, whereas the latter means you just have a small amount to get the flavour of it.
Every time I hear someone covering a Rory Gallagher song I'm reminded what an absolute genius he was. I miss him most days. Good job on the slide Mollie. It's easy to sound bad and very very hard to sound good.
Már 14 évesen ennek már 50 éve JETHRO TULLT és Rory Gallaghart hallgattam a haverokkal, és ezek a csodálatosan zenélő lányok visszahozták az életkedvemet...
Top notch vocal, tight rhythm section, amazing slide skills ! Very talented young band and a positive sign for the future of Irish rock! Go well ladies!
As a teen my first introduction to "Belfast" was at the time of a savage conflict, with bombs and terror and death foremost with pain. Here, all those years in passing just might be healed....with rock. Freedom to a rooftop, belting out the absolute best gathered substance to music....uplifting to any soul who truly listens. I am at once a fan, and hoping ...so hoping a better time can last and last. I am so glad, I can be a huge fan. Want to listen more and more....and guessing something of the backgrounds in peace....make it real. M.
Very nice post. It’s great these young ladies can do what they love. They are playing several festivals in England this month (August) and touring Ireland in December. I hope they can come to the US soon.
Beautiful! Rory lives on with young artists. I had the luck to see him twice in Boston and got to talk with him. He was such a mild mannered gentleman off stage but a monster of the guitar on stage. Great video ladies, thank you!
SENSATIONELL! I´am 61 years young. SO GREAT!. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH. You are all incredible great. All the best from Austria. Boomerang and Kangaroos... you know? :-)
Great tribute to Rory from some Northern Ireland ladies. I love that this cover is spreading across RUclips and Facebook and on official Rory pages. This performance was from a terrific live stream of mostly originals but this is the performance that is going down well and helping to get them lots of love.
This is a really accomplished performance - it progresses so well, so many clever little hooks, musical and visual, that appear but never outstay their welcome!
I enjoyed this I wish rory was around to see all the fine musicians that have covered his work and to know how much he is missed rip number 1 Lee Hambleton from Sheffield
OK. That was a great interpretation. Superawesome together. Great playing. Love the way you kept that alive and interesting all the way through. Slide and vocals together can be really hard to do and you pulled it off.
Superb version! Love the Beatlesesque rooftop setting! You girls are phenomenal in both your playing and your impeccable choices of covers! Please come to London!!!🤘❤️❤️❤️👍
They do some great classic covers and originals. This is their first Rory, but they do a great Crossroads cover which was shared by Jack Bruce's FB page. Their version of Peter Green's Oh Well is another standout. They've done Sabbath, Zeppelin, SRV, Aerosmith and a great cover of Van Morrison's Gloria. They also know how to slow it down. Though their live shows seem to be harder rock, they have great acoustic covers as well, the best is a cover of Helplessly Hoping by CSN.
@@VinE83656 thanks for this great information but I can not believe missing out on Thin Lizzy, How about the rocker, those very fine swinging hard rocking ladies could this this tune, I know that 6they could and will sone day
@@jamesbradshaw3389 Yes, fans have been suggesting Thin Lizzy and The Rocker would be a good one. Emerald and Black Rose, would be cool too, though ambitious. I think they will do some Thin Lizzy someday. Fans have been requesting Rory and we finally got our wish. I do think they may do fewer and fewer covers though as they have begin to focus on originals.

I fully agree with those who say Dea Matrona ROCKS best as a trio!!!
No lightweight fluff songs like today or Mumble Rap. Excellent talent ladies!
only one word to describe these ladies, BRILLIANT
The dance, the intro solo, the bass line, the rooftop, the awesome sound
Very good job girls.
Huge Rory fan from Detroit!! Loving this band too, and would love to see them live!!
Awesome, Rory was phenomenal and Dea Matrona do him justice, great slide guitar work, love Cradle Rock. What a TUNE!
They captured the spirit of Rory's music.
Yes!
Damn right!
They certainly did. Rory would be proud.
Completely true, they absolutely do

I just discovered Rory only last year on YT.

Hard to imagine Rory being anything less than pleased with this performance.

This is the vid that sold me on them. She actually channelled Rory with that slide bit. Time for a USA tour, anyone?
they actually just did a tour in the US
Cool that's good news. I'll just have to keep an eye out for them if they come back to the US
