I was on Hustlers for 15 years very good Mowers 60 inch rear discharge not one hydro failure robust Mowers.

Very good side by side review guys.
No comparison between the heavy duty build of a Hustler vs a Spartan. They both cut grass but we are in the process of switching everything over to Hustler. The Spartan just is not up to the job on regular commercial contracts. We had a number of Spartans, they were a good introduction into the zero turn system, time to move on and buy professional. That said the front suspension on the wheels is very effective.
Have driven past that block thousands of times.
If you guys had to pick ONE mower from those two, which one would you choose and why?
Ben: The Hustler by a thin margin, the efi engine clinched it. Rusty: The bushranger - we were meant to be together
Now Spartan offers the 38.5 HP Kawasaki EFI engine on the SRT-XDs
The grass is so dry there! Do you actually have to mow grass in Australia? I live Tennessee where grass grows 8 inches in 5 days
haha yes sir. It is winter here when we shot this and the grass grows slower. it can also get really dry here, but in summer when we get rain it become nice and lush.
@@CatchProAustralia oh ok! I had a person come visit Tennessee few years ago, he couldn't believe how green and lush the grass is here

I like the spartan an hustle
I rad where the hustler will mow at 16 mph and the spartan will mow at 13 mph. Is there that much actual difference or can you mow at 16 mph and not get thrown out of the seat?
you could defs get thrown out at top speed if you hit a rutt or ditch.
Most times about 10 mph is as much as you are going to be moving while cutting. There are exceptions, such as a very smooth lot like a football field etc, but under few circumstances will you be mowing 16 or even 13 mph.
I'd like to see these actually cutting some tall grass, not just knocking the top off of already very short grass.
yes I agree. This was shot in the middle of our winter during a fairly dry period. Hopefully we can do a part two where we take them through some thick long stuff

If they would call the Spartan the "Bushranger" in the US, I would sell my Hustler in a heartbeat.

Not to mention they will last. Spartan built something flashy to draw in noobs. They have already sold out to Toro while the getting was good. Mowers are not lasting under commercial use.

Piss the Bushranger branding off. I’m an Aussie and I want to see the Spartan branding instead carried consistently across the entire mower. None of this rebranding garbage.
Stay away from Spartan.
The difference is, hustler has been around since 1964. I will guarantee Spartan will be nowhere in sight in 5-10 years.
Love the Hustlers. I disagree that Spartan are not here to stick around, but time will tell.
I do commercial lawn and garden maintenance. I use an Exmark Navigator on all my bigger lawns. The neighbour lives on a slightly bigger block than i do and after a good look at the Bushranger Spartan i told him to buy one with a 42 inch deck. They are very well made and so easy to get to everything. Spartan will be around for a very long time. Great product at a reasonable price.
I agree. They have already been purchased by Toro, and they will be watered down to not draw too many eyes away from the Toro brand name.
