Yeah, Base Mario would be able to hold out well against Super Sonic for a time given his power as a Star Child, but the Speed Demon possession (as well as whatever power he absorbed from Tabuu) definitely pushed him over the edge in terms of power, as the key to his win was him being able to counter Super Sonic's attempt to time warp. It's also why once the Speed Demon is forcibly ejected from Mario, it instantly goes to try and bodyjack Sonic before the Star Variance Authority stops it, as the Game Genie would likely be even stronger with the power of Super Sonic added to its own, rather than having to use the likely comparatively weaker Mario body.

2:52 Fun fact, Sonic can go fast indefinitely too, however unlike Mario, he requires a downhill slope, hence why he was able to keep up at first, however with every time he touches the ground not in a rolling position his speed cap slowly catches up to him.

This fight is probably one of the most well animated yet so comedic fight I’ve ever seen. Love the Something About series so much and it’s so awesome that it expands beyond the funny speedrun. Awesome work :D
I'm telling the truth this is the first time I've seen FBI watchin his stuff. If you don't believe me that's fine, I was just trying to be funny, that's all.
hold on, i just realized, sonic accidentally created another gamegenie when he time jumped. its basically confirmed during the post credits scene, since this version of mario/gamegenie can act independently of the one in the timeline the videos have been following. if this is actually true, that means every instance of time travel with mario in that timeline basically creates a new gamegenie, which in turn means that there is essentially an infinite amount of gamegenies. i assume with the use of savestates, since he is a TAS demon, he can time travel himself. this means that he can just keep making copies of himself. before i realized this, i thought when he said "its not your end for me" at the end of the original video he meant only the three copies he used in the fight with fox. now i believe it means that there will never be an end to him. this series is wack and i love it.
@@sossisthenotsossig thats actually a really good theory. another piece of evidence is when mario said “parallel universes” to luigi, implying that he knows what happened after sonic time jumped.
I took it as chili dogs screwing himself over once he did the time jump. Mario's main advantage was knowing what would happen by speedrunning through different universes, he may not have known that chili dogs was going to punch him until the fight happen, otherwise the speed demon wouldn't have been surprised about getting caught by Rosalina and Geno. Going back in time probably only gave Mario the knowledge to counter him even though he wasn't aware of it. If Sonic wouldn't have made a time jump he may have had a higher chance at winning. That, or the speed demon did all of that on purpose just to mess with them (which is fair to assume taking his last scene in the full episode).
(note this is a joke) If you look closely, just when Chili Dogs starts his time jump, Mario’s eyes move just the tiniest bit, implying his ability to in some way resist time jumps from other people.
Yeah, Jeremy put his all into this work, and that likely included the cinematography. He’s got a penchant for emphasizing spastic and sporadic movement for comedic effect. This can be a huge advantage in writing a fight scene that is meant to exemplify amazing speed and power, since smear frames and shaky frames can emphasis weight impressively. This is often why more serious art styles is difficult to animate so quickly. The smear frames can come off as bizarre or awkward if done poorly, or ridged and stale if done with minimal in-betweens and effort. Consider Jeremy’s knowledge of when and where to emphasis a character’s features for dramatic effect as a lesson in “less is more”. The contrast between his simple art style and the more complex drawings can exponentially subvert expectations. For more examples of talented cinematography that uses Jeremy’s principles to great effect, check out Lego Movie and Into the Spider-Verse. They are masterpieces of animation in cinema. I would go as far as to say Jeremy can even be comparable to those movies given how much he does with so little. If I saw a film directed by Jeremey Chinshue, you bet your sweet ass I’d throw all my money at it.
@@Aflay1 Very nice analysis! It puts some surprisingly nuanced topics into words better than a lot of people probably could. *you probably meant rigid, not ridged
Even to this day, this scene was still stick to my brain on how a heck of a move mario did to finish sonic off. And also kudos to that Va of speed demon mario.
Sonic’s introduction was great, because we’ve seen how Mario is basically unstoppable so seeing something able to take him by surprise, even if for only a minute, is quite adrenaline inducing
Can we talk about how unironically *chilling* it was when the battle reversed, the attack that previously caught Mario off guard was coming-that we KNEW was a solid hit before, and then the fucker turns his head and *SMILES* like a (speed)demon! Seriously, this is some high-quality anime choreography right here.
that can only mean the Speeddemon is a timeless entity (also confirmed by Luigi being upset about them not catching him no matter how far back they go)
1:45 amateur move chili dogs. Every sonic speed runner knows that to obtain speed while saving you extra frames is to jump and then bounce cancel out of your time jump into a spin dash. Canceling out the spin dash inside the worm hole 5 frames in and using a somersault in the starting frame on the Mario fight would’ve given him a faster initial speed.
When you think about it, Chili Dogs held his own against the SpeedDemon and he'd only gone through 1 game. What would've happened if Chili Dogs got more practice in Something About Sonic 2, or maybe even had it been Hyper Chili Dogs, would they have needed Geno and Rosalina?
Well then again Mario's speed builds for eternity so by the time sonic matched his speed Mario would have already gotten faster The only way for sonic to become faster he would have to have the speed demon which almost possessed him but Rosalina and geno stopped it which could have lead to the fasting thing in the multiverse since sonic was already faster than Mario's 2nd Speedrun on sonics first run so no sonics 2nd run or 3rd wouldn't do any good Even an infinite amount of sonics runs won't do any good Also meaning in another video the speed demon is able to escape from Rosalina and geno at any point of time from the uncontrollable speed which the only way to get rid of it is to kill it
1:20 I LOVE THIS BECAUSE Y'KNOW Warpstars have arbitrary movement speeds! Kirby can just *follow* anyone at any speed they want. It's such a lovely undercutting of the power other people fight over and kirby literally shits something out that dwarfs even the speed demom's comprehension. Its like vegeta vs frieza on earth and whis is just sippin tea
It should give you chills. He's a demon who laughed at a mortal's attempt on demonic levels of power. Sonic actually moved one parallel universe with that time jump... because when you move at the speed of light, you can actually transcend time.
Mario states he was a worthy opponent, that however, does not mean the golden chilidogs were at his level, but rather, that he was the first being to have entertained him.
For such a simple looking artstyle, it's always effective at showing emotion on faces. The jaw drops, the contrast in detail for characters, and then you have the fights themselves that just really keep you watching closely. Rewatched this fight before going to work today.
Can we all just take a moment to let it sink in that the speed demon didn’t even try in this fight? He didn’t even use a parallel universe nor was he at all prepared unlike the hiya fight.
But sonic surprisingly diddnt die, he held his own in the fight if he went hyper, imagine.. He probably would be strong enough to counter some of marios moves
The expression sonic gives when mario catches his punch is an underexaggeration. Imagine your opponent being so fast and demonic that not even TIME TRAVELLING can allow you to catch it. It's that fast.
@@dskoke888 nope. Mario is perfectly the omni-dimensional being. Hes in perfect synchronization with every mario in every dimension Thats why travelling in time doesnt work, because mario already knows sonic did that. Its demonic

In short will we were watching mario beating sonic he was already in other game speedrunning then when he got arrested by rosalina other mario were still doing there stuff explain why it's the end of the speed demon yet not the end of him for them if they want to get ride of the speed demon they have to defeat every single parallel universe mario which is almost impossible since his always few parallel dimension ahead of them
*This may be the end for me, but it is not my end for you* He'll be back xD speedrunner' is too iconic to not, heck he's even a guest star in a game lol
Y'know I don't think anybody has mentioned how excellently TM choreographed this fight. Sonic doing a time jump was so cool and out of no where, you're impressed by it, and then mario just CATCHES it, that laugh is so chilling, it mocks both sonic AND the viewer for thinking it had a chance of working. It's genius. Seriously. So good. You're on your way to be the best in the biz dude I'm telling you now
For sure! I absolutely loved everything about this moment. I was expecting the time jump to be the moment Chili Dogs clapped back hard, with a ridiculous series of combo attacks like in every other fan animation where Sonic does something crazy. Then, Speedrun Mario caught his punch and unleashed it upon him! That was the moment Chili Dogs and the viewer realized fate was not his to change.
"To answer that, we need to talk about Parallel Universes." SR Mario: Parallel Uni-versus. Entire community watching Terminal Montage: *copying Luigi's Face at that moment.*
When someone says something to me I would know that my no u would work in at least one of the parallel universes in which I transfer my consciousness to that clone of me and proceed to take over the world and make chili dogs free and have a galactic adventure to the moon for there we shall feast on the yummy cheese
Someone mentioned this in the comments of the original, but I feel it’s important to include here. Sonic’s time jump made Mario just 1 parallel universe slower. To Speedrunner Mario, the difference seemed trivial, but it was just enough for Luigi and Kirbo to catch up and exorcize the Speed Demon.
The best part about this is that commenting "top ten anime fight scenes" wouldn't even just be ironic. Not only is this an actual anime fight scene, but it's one of the best I've ever witnessed.
It’s surprising that Chillidogs was able to actually be some sort of match with Wahoo with only the chaos emeralds. Just imagine what he could do if he had Sonic 3 & Knuckles’ super emeralds in hand
2:08 This is actually the perfect opportunity to make an alternate universe where Mario doesn't block the punch and gets sent into Minecraft like in Steve's Smash trailer
There is a terrifying frame in there where mario stares at the camera (chilli dogs) whither a massive exaggerated smile before cutting and seeing him block the punch
RNG can be exploited by TAS, and Mario, Speed Demon if you please, was TAS version. So that's why he is able to control timeline itself, he is way too powerful for normal human to do so. Bssically a portable time machine power, to see future, past and present at the "same" time, and able to reach tremondous speed, makes him way more powerful. At least, how I can say about it all
@@reknostarfox4690 i still believe that we will need Speedrunner Link (BOTW) to defeat Mario and the Speed Demon. Not for the *POWER* but because of how impredictable Link can be.
Now here’s something interesting: this video is the first time we actually get to see time jumps in action, and it implicates a few things that could become really important later. 1- Time is non-linear, in that jumping creates multiple parallel universes. 2- Each continues after the point of the jump and arrival. And the two most important parts: 3- When you jump backwards, you replace the version of you at the point of arrival. 4- Other entities are not replaced, they continue to exist in their own universes. This means that, when Super Sonic jumped, he left behind an extra universe with another Speed Demon Mario. In other words, he duplicated the Game Genie. This can only mean one thing- *When you time jump, you lose.* The Game Genie is aware of parallel universes, and seems to have knowledge about them at all times. He can also move so fast that his position overflows within one universe, making him appear to be in different places at once and harder to track, or straight up move between them. You would need to limit that in any way possible in order to have a chance of beating him. What probably happened is that he _goaded_ Super Sonic into jumping in order to duplicate himself and stop the fight before it began. This means that he is practically unstoppable. The only way to slow him would be to make him jump, and be aware of the other universes he’s created. But that might just be the ticket- he would jump. As shown in the Melee Fox vs. Mario video, he is arrogant and cocky, willing to jump to any number of universes just so he can beat you into the ground more. But if you can trick him into moving backwards instead of sideways, you could maybe dwindle his forces. Keep doing it, and you just might be able to localize him enough to fully contain. That could be the only way to defeat him.
In reality, Mario is a star child, a very strong being in general, and knowing his feats, its not too surprising or too much of a long shot to say Mario would at least hold his own for a little against Super Sonic, now combine whatever 64 did to him, and you’ve got an accurate fight.

In later games, this actually flips: M-Speed is effectively the sonic version of BLJ, and it can send him FLYING thru stages to the point that the level doesn’t load properly

hold on, i just realized, sonic accidentally created another gamegenie when he time jumped. its basically confirmed during the post credits scene, since this version of mario/gamegenie can act independently of the one in the timeline the videos have been following.
if this is actually true, that means every instance of time travel with mario in that timeline basically creates a new gamegenie, which in turn means that there is essentially an infinite amount of gamegenies. i assume with the use of savestates, since he is a TAS demon, he can time travel himself. this means that he can just keep making copies of himself.
before i realized this, i thought when he said "its not your end for me" at the end of the original video he meant only the three copies he used in the fight with fox. now i believe it means that there will never be an end to him.
this series is wack and i love it.

@@sossisthenotsossig thats actually a really good theory. another piece of evidence is when mario said “parallel universes” to luigi, implying that he knows what happened after sonic time jumped.
When speed runner Mario caught chili dogs back in time punch it signifies that he saw it coming and was just toying with him throughout the fight
I thought this was obvious. Also crazy yellow eyes.
I took it as Mario learning Sonic's moveset, then parrying it perfectly.
the first hit is probably genuine, but Mario did some TASing and chili dogs was kind enough to reload his savestate for him in this universe

The only true way to defeat the speed demon is to allow his speed to build so high it reaches NAN and crashes the game
Same idk
It’s a dream line
(note this is a joke) If you look closely, just when Chili Dogs starts his time jump, Mario’s eyes move just the tiniest bit, implying his ability to in some way resist time jumps from other people.
Showed it to my friend who’s super into Dragon Ball, and he said “Why is the animation better than Dragon Ball Super?”
Awesome work!
It probably has something to do with western style while crude tends to look better in motion while the reserve can be said about eastern.
Why does is the animation

The only way for sonic to become faster he would have to have the speed demon which almost possessed him but Rosalina and geno stopped it which could have lead to the fasting thing in the multiverse since sonic was already faster than Mario's 2nd Speedrun on sonics first run so no sonics 2nd run or 3rd wouldn't do any good

I can only imagine that Speedrunner Mario’s weakness is bane of every speed runner,
RNG and unskippable cutscenes
RNG can be exploited by TAS, and Mario, Speed Demon if you please, was TAS version. So that's why he is able to control timeline itself, he is way too powerful for normal human to do so.
Bssically a portable time machine power, to see future, past and present at the "same" time, and able to reach tremondous speed, makes him way more powerful. At least, how I can say about it all
@@reknostarfox4690 i still believe that we will need Speedrunner Link (BOTW) to defeat Mario and the Speed Demon. Not for the *POWER* but because of how impredictable Link can be.
Aka speedrunner link also speedrunner mario is weak to christianity ( says me a jewish and i hate the fact it works )
...so does that mean Kirbo worships RNGesus, and thus potentially more powerful?
And that one place on Tall Tall Mountain. You know the one, where you jump onto it and then get stuck while the screen starts shaking.
Now here’s something interesting: this video is the first time we actually get to see time jumps in action, and it implicates a few things that could become really important later.
1- Time is non-linear, in that jumping creates multiple parallel universes.
2- Each continues after the point of the jump and arrival.
And the two most important parts:
3- When you jump backwards, you replace the version of you at the point of arrival.
4- Other entities are not replaced, they continue to exist in their own universes.
This means that, when Super Sonic jumped, he left behind an extra universe with another Speed Demon Mario. In other words, he duplicated the Game Genie. This can only mean one thing-
*When you time jump, you lose.*
The Game Genie is aware of parallel universes, and seems to have knowledge about them at all times.
Im so confused but i need to research more
