I found your story on one of my favorite Ukrainian channel. I’m not surprised actually. American bloggers and channels will be shocked if they will find out how much of their content was stolen by russian bloggers. It’s typical for them, not creat their own product, but steal others.
I'm from Ukraine and I'm watching your video because one of Ukrainian channels referenced it as one of the proofs that russians interfering with the trends and RUclips moderation policy.

Ironically enough, i've never heard of this channel before. The "algorithm" recommended this video to me. This, and other videos i've seen recently are showing a coming disaster for youtube. Act man vs quantum tv is similar to this, not in the scale and severity, but in refusing to pursue fraudulent channels because of their views and missed revenue

found this on my phone on reddit and when i went to look it up on pc i couldnt find the video when searching for "why i'm suing youtube business casual", had to go to your channel to see it
Gonna be honest, I'm not going to watch a 2 hour whinge video. If you understood how the dmca system works, then you would know that there is no such thing as a "frivolous counter notice" and the next step is to sue them. RUclips will win this lawsuit easily.
You cant find this video when searching for the title or the channel name. They are clearly blacklisting this video and using their algorithms to keep this from being seen *edit- It seems this video is finally searchable and being recommended to people. Great to hear! However for the first 2-3 days that this video was uploaded, you could not find this video at all by putting the title or channel in the search bar
Put this on a different platform as well, if you haven't already. this is plan theft and i see this from other content craters all the time.

I'm all for more relaxed copyright laws (mostly just the absurd length of it), but this is insane. These policies are unjust and unfair. If they really want laws to be enacted their way, they should have just lobbied for change, instead of enforcing its own "ideal".
Yeah, weaker copyright laws that only go for 20 years, with maybe some specific exceptions like a mascot or something would be nice.
I dont think copyright laws should be "relaxed" perse, but rather oriented in the proper manor. I think the amount of an effect a property has on the culture should factor into if something is free use or not. I mean an image of Thanos should be more easily used as free use than a character from some obscure indie film. Smaller creators should have priority when it comes to copyright protection. Megacorps dont *need* protection.
@@Yipper64 Exactly with you, they should definitely fix it with some exceptions. The exceptions being anything so popular it couldn't be stolen, such as Thanos as you said. But no big companies need protection, they're big companies.

Saying that videos containing images in the public domain aren’t under copyright, however at that if you write a book then that’s just a few words in the public domain and therefore I can now release Harry Potter as my own due to that.

RUclips might have shadow banned the channel and it’s possible the video is flagged by their systems as potentially "violative" and it needs to be manually reviewed first then it can start showing up again in the search, feed, recommendations, etc.
Edit: manually reviewed by one of RUclips's underpaid content moderators*
Update: If you are watching it now and got the video in your feed/ recommendations, I would like you to know that most of the comments talking about the channel being shadow banned and the video being censored are from the first 8-10 hours of the upload. During that time, the video had gotten less than 3-4k views (mostly from reddit) even tho the channel has well over 1 million subscribers.
I can't even find the creators channel by searching "business casual" and filtering for channels
I have watched (and enjoyed) Business Casual content in the past, but I'm not subscribed to this channel, this channel hasn't made a post in 2 years, and it came up in my feed 11 hours after posting. Most people will only notice if they have trouble finding a video and that confirmation bias can be self-fulfilling, so I just wanted to post my personal data point as a reference.
If this is RUclips trying to hide a video, they are doing a terrible job.
@@DigitalOsmosis Personally, I had a crazy occurrence where I searched "business casual" to find the video/channel after I saw a reddit post and found nothing about this channel, but after I sent the link to myself and opened it, now when I search for the same term, videos from this channel pop up. I thought that was very odd but it could just be personalized recommendations

@@DigitalOsmosis it is not RUclips trying to hide the video. The video is flagged by the system, therefore the video can't have any organic reach which is like 95% of the viewership in most cases. The video can however be found and viewed, if you know what you are looking for, like through a direct link. This is just how the RUclips's content moderation works to "protect views from harmful content". I'm sure the manual reviewing personal will unflag the video but the damage is already done as it is very important for a video to get an optimal viewership in the first few hours of upload then it gets pushed to a wider audience.
RUclips does what every company does: Protect their revenues at all costs. And that's the biggest problem of being a content creator in this platform: your whole business is in their hands. I'd suggest trying to diversify your revenues in a way you'll be depending less on this untill you may be able to lose it without having a big impact. Wish you all the best!
I have a fairly big RUclips channel (this one is a personal account) and I’m gonna make content until I’ve paid off my mortgage. After that, I’ll be more relaxed. That’s the only reason I started putting content on here. I also linked my channel to Odysee

I am from Ukraine, now it is very difficult to fight russian propaganda. Even the trends of Ukrainians are clogged with Russian videos (and not because most Ukrainians watch them, but because RUclips supports russia). Thank you for such a video !

когорты рейтинговой системы ютуба скорее всего уже полностью автоматизированы. вряд ли кто-то вручную забил руснявый контент в украиноязычную когорту. что более важно, так то что ни при каких условиях они не будут вручную модифицировать алгоритм, чтобы исключить рускоязычный контент из рекомендаций.
I have a question. My most recent video is not showing up on my home page under "recently uploaded". This has never happened before! If I click on content I can still find it, and it plays fine. Not only that, it is getting views and comments! So it must be visible to the public. But it is not appearing on my home page anywhere that i can find. The one from the day before is still there. I did check to see if it was mistakenly listed private, and it is not. I made one small edit when I posted it, trimming the length at each end by a few seconds (using RUclips editing). It processed quickly and normally. There are no copyright violations or claims. Nothing wrong with it at all, so why is it not listed? I need it to show up, not only for people going on my home page but for my own records. I post every day and it would be hard to keep track of anything that does not show up. Would reuploading help? P.S., I have tried RUclips customer support on numerous occasions and got nowhere. Please help! Sorry if this is somewhat off-topic, I don't know where else to turn. . . . . . !
Google and RUclips should be stripped of all DMCA safe harbor protections. They have acted massively irresponsibly and should not be trusted anymore.

Eh. In my opinion, RUclips won't be a place for creators. I doubt RUclips is going to change for the better. I'm guessing something new will come along and replace RUclips. People will flock to a new platform if it provides the same mechanisms but with a better CEO.

I would read definitions again because your ideas ARE your property if they are novel and haven’t been patented by someone else. You may have a process for doing something that is better than somebody else. That is IP in its loosest form.

Sure, using short clips in a larger video isn't a big deal, but your whole "intellectual property doesn't exist' argument is BS. If a bio-tech company spends millions of dollars on research and eventually invent a brand new medicine after years of hard work, should any random person be able to steal their patented medicine and sell it on their own? Reaping the benefits of someone else's blood sweat and tears? Should I be able to steal J.K. Rowling's new book and sell it as my own? You're a f'ing r*tard if you genuinely believe that.

It feels like the world is, increasingly, a place where bad actors get rewarded while honest people get punished. I can only hope that justice will be served properly in this case.
I believe that's because there are more people who have time and resources to report and fight it. Sure, it hurts to learn how things are, but I view it as good news that shows things are going to change.

As much as I don't like the way modern copyright is, this is a good reminder of what it's meant to do: protect the small fries from the big fish, and RUclips absolutely failed to do that.
That is not what copyright was made to do. Copyright was made to encourage people and organizations to reveal their knowledge and have it be protected under the law for an appropriate amount of time before entering the public domain and benifiting humanity. These guys are Google writ small they are doing for themselves not for others even when the content is, at least ostensibly, being used for a news and not for profit.

This is an insult to so many people in the Ukraine and people in America. These corporations may die because of this. I hope they do and they suffer. That and they will have to pay billions of people 20 grand each for not only selling their information, but also putting ads they did not sponsor nor have knowledge of for stealing watch time, but as well as an added 10 grand for stealing and compromising information of all minors in their households. Thats a lot of people to pay up to. They should have thought better, but no, everyone in the corporations is a bunch of five year olds who know nothing about the law or how to run a large company that dominates the entire world.

It wouldn't be that difficult to create an app and market it as a safe enviroment for people to share videos on right? Especially now that everyone is starting to hate RUclips and Twitch. Information is spreading easily and quickly lately and so marketing an app that has a clean history would be very profitable right? @@terra5765 In order to successfully run a proper competitor to RUclips, it needs to be accessible without payment, therefore funded by ads, and everyone needs to be able to upload videos.
So the competitor not only needs massive storage, they also need ad companies to be inclined to advertise on their site.
Right now, the only sites comparable to youtube are adult content websites. They cannot compete with youtube because of the adult content. The ad companies they're working with don't have ads which would be suitable for other content, let alone family or child friendly content, and ad companies who have the appropriate ads will not work with an adult website.
Anyone else would need tremendous funding to run the storage necessary for the website and just like RUclips, it would take them years to get to a point where they aren't just losing money. Microsoft is one of the giant companies who isn't entirely opposed to testing risky, expensive projects. Even they haven't done anything like this.
Yes, I remember youtube was running at a loss for a very long time and was only able to stay alive because of Google's success... so a new competitor would need a massive amount of funding and time to start making revenue...

The unfortunate problem with RUclips's algorithm's being exposed is that they are uncomprehendable to humans. Essentially a blackbox. If the people behind the AI did reveal what it was doing we would be left with code that means nothing to us.

After hearing the details of the lengthy process used by this channel to update and animate public domain images, I couldn’t help thinking of Disney, the company that built its business on animated and live action movie versions of works in the public domain, and then fought to extend copyright for decades in order to keep said works from entering the public domain themselves. Disney’s lawyers would eat Russia/RUclips’s “fair use” defense for lunch and send them home naked, penniless and crying.
Maybe this channel should try to contact them to team up who knows maybe they'll help just to protect their own business against Google

While anyone can make their own version of The Little Mermaid, the cannot freely use any assets used in the animation, as those are owned by Disney. The original work (novel) is publice domain, but Disney's version of them is not.

Fortunately or not, the internet and global platforms in it doesn't regulate on a same rules. Those platforms are having to accommodate law systems of every country they are showing their content. And sometimes, that country blackmail platform for cutting it off frome those sweet millions of viewers. Such a dilemma, right?

I’d imagine the watch time is quite high on the video and it’s a large channel (plus a captivating title and thumbnail) and thus it should be more viewed. It seems like it is gaining traction slowly, which is promising.

I'm not usually a political person that watches things like law, but you title caught me. As I was watching this video I stared just, not caring, but then I heard about the corruption and decided to keep watching. Over the first hour I sat at my desk numb, watching as RUclips and Google committed countless crimes. Slowly, I built up disbelief and anger, and by the 1 hour mark I was invested. When you said the court would reject the entire RUclips case, my heart sank and I finally knew how all those people in the films felt when their case failed. I am appalled and wish you the best of luck in this case. I'm going to try to get my teacher for my CWP (current world problems) class to talk about this and get your poster put up in my school. Once again, I support you and wish you luck.

Amazing to see this side of RUclips when it comes to copyright. From my own experience, I could hum a song and get a strike. I feel like RUclips got so big that there is no unity in their actions or a coherent decision making process. Hopefully you guys will get the fair treatment you deserve.
In my case I always make sure none of my works are stolen. If people try to steal one they are left behind for months and if they cannot produce anything original in that timeline their businesses start to crumble or they are contacted later with better ideas from the source they supposedly stole from to make it harder to steal next even if they wanted. This way a copyright violation is resolved by teamwork instead of a trial, which is more expensive, while teamwork works quicker and often results in a better outcome for both parties.If I want to create a derivative work its sometimes presented to the original artist as a present to avoid any violation.And if I absolutely do not want an artwork to be recreated by another artist without permission, time to avoid putting that artwork online.
