Thanks much ... your tips just convinced me to pull the trigger on the Apollo and I can't wait to get it. Been meaning to get a grinder for my La Pavoni Pro for forever. And I ordered extra bands too : ) ... thanks again

Hi again ... one question for you. In the video you mentioned your recommended settings for espresso as 10 to 10.6 while the bplus instructions recommend 15 to 17 notches where 1 circle = 10 notches and one notch is 5 clicks. I'm confused 😕...

@@FrankFromBrooklyn starting from completely closed, "0," I move the dial around one full rotation to 0. I consider that to be 10. There's 5 notches between each number, so I consider each notch .2. I'd update to say now I use between 10 and 11 6 for espresso, depending on the beans and method I'm using. Lance Hedrick has some pretty interesting ideas about larger grind size for espresso...

Thanks for this nice review! I was watching chiefly for tips on grind size for various applications and your tips really help as I sometimes want to grind for friends who do pour-overs, etc., though this really is aimed at espresso. I have an old La Cara lever espresso machine and purchased the Apollo grinder for Christmas last year, so it has had about 11 months of use. I found the grind adjustment to be something that had to be set up with close attention to the initial instructions (i.e., two turns of the grind adjustment wheel then start dialing in) - the people at BPlus were excellent with some tips and I'm going to do some more fine tuning with your tips. Haven't found actually grinding it to be difficult, it just takes a little elbow grease and getting momentum, with some beans being tougher than others. I grind with both hands just to work both sides and yeah, don't let your shoulder fly up!
I would unreservedly recommend this grinder. BTW, I put Grindz through it every several months because I like oily beans.

I like to move both arms in a venn-diagram pattern so there's momentum in both directions, much less effort and it avoids the burrs stalling. But it doesn't work on this grinder, the cover won't stay in place unless the grinder is relatively stationary. I seem to be the only person with this problem... think I'm gonna have to make a different cover for mine. Also wish the catch cup pitch was courser, or even cam lock. I'm not graceful enough for machine pitched threading before my first cup.
