I live in Massachusetts and we are 35% I am a cop and in 13 years have never intentionally stopped someone just for tint. There are guys who do on my department but usually just as a warning not a citation. A lot of cops are car enthusiasts like myself. I drive a 2018 Mustang Gt and I definitely don't want to be a hypocrite about things. If you get a citation from me trust me you earned it. Iv had tint on my car since 2010 and not once have I ever been stopped for it myself.
Also from Mass, but a civilian. I have 20% all the way around except my windshield on my BMW and have not gotten pulled over for it yet. I even got stopped for something else when I was down at school in NC and they didn't question the tint. Yet for inspection my guys at the station wont hook me up anymore so its almost like the state inspections are becoming more strict rather than law enforcement.
NYer here, have had 35-20% tint on all my vehicles and in my younger days have been stopped for just having tint. It has not relaxed at all and have many friends who have been pulled for just having tint, have even had friends who've gotten a ticket for each tinted window. The only time I ever got ticketed for it I was given a tint ticket in lieu of a speeding ticket.
The MA inspection is doing the enforcement now. What really pisses me off is that at the store, my tint was 35%. At the inspection station was 28%. Maybe different meters... anyway, I had to remove it all to pass.
Makes sense, I live in New York though and our legal limit is 70%(aka practically nonresistant tint) so illegal tint is preeeeeeeety easy to spot. I know guys who get pulled over constantly for it and other guys who never have. Guess it depends on the cop.
My windows are dark, asked a friend who is a cop, about it. He said if you get pulled over, roll your windows down and turn on your dome light if it's dark out, cops get nervous when they can't see inside a car they just pulled over.
That has ALWAYS worked for me.If the police are at ease....its a good chance he'll feel you have nothing to hide and just give you a warning or just let you go.
I got 5% just to protect my left arm from frying my skin while driving. Other reason? Just like someone else said, so I can pick my nose or whatever in private. And honestly, most of the time I don't want other drivers looking in anyway, being all nosy and not minding their own business. Lastly, I've noticed my passengers appreciate the extra privacy and added sun/heat/glare protection as well, and it makes them feel a little "VIP", which is a nice perk.
Lol! Perks of tint...I just wanna eat in peace while I ride. Why do you have to know how greedy I am? Haha 😉 Other bonus... when I dip to my car during lunch break, nosey @$$ co-workers walking/driving by are looking in so hard, might as well be in the dang car w me! Sir/ma'am you don't need to know where I am for the next 30min to an HR, hehe. Seriously though, privacy, reduced heat and peace of mind for your things makes it seem worth it.
I installed 5% and love it, (50% is our states law) Cops around here don't care anymore. However the functionality of tint has changed a lot over the years. For example: Good quality ceramic tint at 35% can block more heat transmission then cheap 5% tint. I understand it doesn't look AS dark but the quality stuff will perform better in high sun/heat environments.
That's why i only use FormulaOne Pinnacle Series. I've had it on 3 cars and it never fades or degrades in any way, ever, and blocks the most UV rays which protects you and your interior. It's expensive sh*t, but it's the best tint on the market.
EdDude It's owned by Llumar, a well known maker of all kinds of window tint. You can search for FormulaOne Pinnacle Series dealers/installers here.... northamerica.llumar.com/about-us/window-film-brand/formula-one-high-performance-auto-tint
In most states, having illegal tint is a secondary offense. Meaning, they are not supposed to pull you over for the tint alone, you have to commit a primary offense first, i/e a traffic violation. Once they have a reason to pull you over then they can check your tint and cite you for it if they want.
@@dmack177 they are in terms of enforcing it and this is a police vehicle we're talking about.. are you going to also say they aren't allowed to speed?
In New Korea AKA New Jersey. We can apply any darkness to the back windows. No legal tint can be applied to the front. At least we have the back dark but it looks weird with just the back. However undercover and sheriffs are above the law. They can do as they please because the law doesn’t apply to them unfortunately.
Not really because i live in north jersey i got an E63 amg as my first car and i have 5% all behind the front seats and 20% in the front seats and front windshield and ive been fine no tickets so far *knocking on wood*
@@perkhere2252 If cops can't see inside your vehicle, how do they know if you're white, black, pink, or green? Stop turning this into a race issue, dumbass! The reason you get pulled over for dark tints is because you're not a limousine and if cops can't see who's inside the vehicle, they can't tell if you've got a loaded shotgun or rifle pointed at them when they approach your vehicle. Back in the 1980s in Los Angeles during the gang wars in South Central, an LAPD cop pulled over a vehicle with dark tints only to be blasted from inside the vehicle at point blank with a 12 gauge sawed off shotgun. The occupants were Crips gang members all with outstanding felonies and warrants. After that incident, every cop gets extremely nervous and paranoid when they approach a vehicle that they can't see inside of. They want to go home safe and sound to their families too at the end of the day and trust me, they all remember that incident in South Central Los Angeles when they approach a vehicle with extreme tints with their guns already drawn or with their hands already on their pistols ready to draw.
Been driving with tints since the 80's....my advice if you have tints and you're pulled over...FOR ANY REASON...Put ALL your windows down before the police/ trooper gets to your car.It will put the police at ease and you might avoid a ticket....ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT.
LMAO @ %35 percent tint is like having no tint at all. In New York City The legal tint for passenger car front/rear side windows are %70. How about that. lol
5% on my jeep wrangler all the way around and "35%" on my windshield. Funny thing is every car I've had in the past I've been pulled over by cops without any tint. Got me a jeep blacked out the windows never been pulled. 6.2 black man, coincidence, paranoia IDK!?
@@Knockout360 at first when you get the tint its hard to see at night, but you get used to it and it's like a second sense but at the same i exercise caution
@@tommycage5457 Whoever is involved and power hungry are getting some kickbacks. They make millions on minor offenses alone.. Does that money go to fix our terrible roads?

High Point, NC ain't like that 😡 had 18% all around and 35% on the whole windshield and a year later a cop pulled me over on some BS. He just wanted to give a ticket that day, as the person driving my car wasn't speeding.
If you are going to put window tint on any of your vehicle windows that is darker than what the law allows you should go the legal route (if possible), get a signed note from your Physician specifying why you need the darker tint - (preventing skin cancer \ stop headaches from exposure to sunlight). Based on current law in most states that is what you need in order to not get ticketed. I have 15% all around on 1 of my vehicles, and 15% on front side windows and 5% on rear windows on 2nd vehicle here in Ohio and have never had a problem with law enforcement while driving.
Jesse Exactly!! I have 20% and had it on my cars since 1996. Never been pulled over for it. I like it for security purposes. I can leave stuff on my back seat without having to hide it or put it in my trunk. Even then if someone sees you randomly put stuff in the trunk they know its valuable. Example a new Tablet from an electronics store. Or a safety issue if your a woman alone in the car. If some criminal notices a cute girl in the car alone they are more likely to attack her or car jack her. If its tinted they have no idea who’s in it and will leave them alone. Ill never ever remove mine.
I drove a car with limo tint. Awesome during the day but at night you couldn't see a damn thing. I had to roll down the windows to see curbs especially when turning and parking. It's not worth it.
I have 20% all the way around except the 70% on Windshield and at night it is fine... Do you have Ceramic Tint? That may be the difference as I have DUBiR all the way around, but it costs way more than $200...
J E mine cost 200$ for ceramic tint only thing is I have 35 in front and I wanna change to limo tint now I have to see who does ceramic tint instead of giving me the cheap Stuff
yes they do, got pulled over last year and got a warning and then a ticket even though I'm only 20% and had my windows down when he approached my car. Easy money for 'em. Still have the tint because I don't give a damn.
You raise some interesting points...I tint for a living and we know our areas and what we can get away with. Now a days people come to me wanting everything under the sun from 5% door to 35% windshields. They do what they want and I'll install it or someone else will. Good video.
35% can be sufficient... NOT ALL TINT IS CREATED EQUAL. Lots of people think of tint as dark, but realistically it’s any kind of film that enhances solar rejection. Even a clear ceramic film in todays market can block almost all the heat you feel while driving
In Louisiana it’s 12% back windshield 25% rear windows and 35% front windows and anything on the windshield besides a legal sized visor is legal. I have 5% all the way around with 40% on my windshield and never been messed with
I was pulled over 1 time outside fort campbell.. With 5% over the factory on a SUV. Cop was stopped right next to me at a light so i guess thats why he noticed. I had my glock with me and when I told him, he focused on that and just gave me a warning for the tint but i never took it off and havent had any other issues since.
charbizzle2007 also from Louisiana, i wanted to do 20% or 5% all around but decided to play it safe with 35% all around. Local inspection guy i go to usually doesn’t meter for 35%.Sometimes i regret not going darker though.
I also live in Louisiana and on my old truck I had 20% over the 70% from the factory, do the math, 14% on my driver and passenger windows and 5% on rear doors and back glass. My truck was white so it did kind of stick out like a sore thumb. I got stopped by a State Police officer and was issued a citation but he did tell me that if I removed it and had a local officer sign off on it that it would be knocked down to court costs, so $70ish. That was several (8-9) years ago though.
They started doing that in New York as well, except our tint limit is 70%!!! a bunch of people had to get their tint removed to pass inspection. So much so that a popular tint shop in my area actually offered it do it for free for previous customers.
L.P. Clifton I got stopped in Denham Springs for tint and I have a white truck with 15% on the front and 5 over factory on the back sides and rear glass and he gave me a ticket for $180. I wasn’t speeding or anything and he decided to get me for just tint
Im am currently riding on 5% tint on all my windows except the front windshield and im in Arizona, I have been pulled over only once by DPS and they gave me a “repair order”. The troopers told me the reason why they pulled me over was because I had a darkened plate cover and they couldn’t see anything inside my vehicle, the one who originally pulled me over said if I didn’t have my darkened plate cover they wouldn’t have pulled me over. I have had the tint on since I got my car in 2016 and i got pulled over in 2018, I still have it on and will continue with it. The only con that comes with 5% is the night driving (and i work graveyard shift) but I just roll down the windows when I am not able to see.
Sometimes I walk rather than taking my car . It's when you're out walking on roads and streets that a person realizes they can feel vulnerable when a car with very dark window tint is nearby . It's just not a very good feeling
Here in California it's illegal to put any tint on the front driver & passenger windows no matter how light. You can only put a strip on the front windshield. You can go as dark as you want for the back windows. CHP will stop & ticket for tint. Hell I got a ticket the very next day after having my windows tinted. I have 5% all the way around.
I heard that you have to have a cop sign off on the ticket that you removed the tint and that you cant just pay the ticket and be on your way. They legitly force you to take it off. I was wondering what would happen if you just refused
Here in metro Detroit they generally leave you alone. Buuuuutt.. .. if you happen to be out late at night. They use it as a pullover technique to check you out. Like they did to me a few weeks ago driving a friend to the airport at 3:30 in the morning. "Damn he's not swerving. Ride his ass a little more and scare him. Damn its still not working.. officer Bob, look he has 35% of his front windows get HIM". I have limo on the back because my kids hate the sun shining on them. And 35% on the front windows. It illegal to have anything on the front windows in Michigan.. you technically could have a 4-inch strip at the top of the side front windows but Nobody Does that cuz it looks like shit. I've had my front windows tinted in different vehicles in Michigan since 1999. From 15-35% not would say I've been pulled over about maybe 6 times. But I would say every time I got pulled over was a cop looking for something more than tint, just use it as a reason to pull me over. So I suppose you're making yourself somewhat vulnerable installing it on front windows.
Never got pulled over for it while living in Detroit. They will in Macomb county and in other states if you go out of town though. Never went as dark as 10%, I like 20-30%
Nate TheDaddy I just got pulled over in Troy on a Sunday morning. Officer was in unmarked charger but gave me no ticket they just said “it looks cool” “make home ok” lmao I got 5% too
Yeah pretty accurate for metro detroit but even though here in michigan any tint on the front windows is illegal i’ve gotten away with 35% for years and never been stopped for it but got stopped frequently when I ran 5% so living here you can’t overdo it and can’t drive like an idiot and you’ll be good
I completely agree, I live in NC as well. I have 35% on my car (Windows are extremely reflective so you have to be point blank range to see in it. But I know people who have 5% on their cars and they haven’t been pulled yet. I just don’t want to go out of my way to get my car to pass inspection if I went darker.
I’ve never been pulled over for a tint but recently I got a ticket for reckless driving and the officers gave me the ticket for tint as well. But I don’t think they will pull you over just for tint, you need to do something stupid like me to get a ticket for it. I’m from nyc.
Around here, (in Kansas) I've never been pulled over for tint but the way it works is the police wait until they see someone in a bad neighborhood, or, in their eyes, acting suspiciously, and THEN they'll pull you over "for your tint."
I agree with you 100% Cops are normally not going to go out their way to pull you over for Tint, Now... If your going 15+MPH over the Speed limit or doing something illegal, Well then yea, They can hit you for Tint if they want, But if your doing the speed limit, Obeying laws, You wont have nothing to worry about.
I’ve been pulled over for tints many times, I live in nyc. Idk maybe I was unfortunate but when police used to see my tints they would do a u turn and start chasing me and I only had 35 in the back and 50 in passenger side. Only tickets I’ve got in my life was for tints.
you’re videos are so cleaaaaan. this is the first video i’ve seen of yours and i’m in shock that you don’t have a million subscribers. you got a sub from me
Out here in Florida you have to be doing something stupid for them to pull you over and then get you for tint. I have 3% all around and 10% on my entire windshield and never got pulled 🤷♂️
I'm a car guy myself but I'd understand the cops perspective from a 20% or especially 5% standpoint, because if I were an officer that'd be dangerous for them when stopping someone, they need to be able to see the people for their own safety, I'm not a cop but I'd let 20% and up slide for sure if I was....it's only 35% in Tennessee....like most of the country I think
In Franklin County, TN, yes. I got pulled over strictly for tint back in December. No speeding, wreckless driving, disturbing the peace or anything. I’m running 5% all around with 20 on the windshield. In my defense, the car is white and modified so it sticks out a bit.
But damn..5% tho and 20% on the front??? You was asking for it. I don’t Tint the front for that reason that it let’s in light so it doesn’t look as dark even tho my setup is illegal.
very true. I was against tinting the front at first, but after riding in a car that had the windshield tinted it was a must. I just accept it, roll all windows down, and both hands on the steering wheel if I get pulled over lol
Alan yeah it all depends on the county and how bored the cops are honestly it’s probable cause but quite obscene even though you may be no threat to them they can’t know for sure.
I had a lawyer break it down for me when I was in college a few years back. Specifically speaking in Pennsylvania, the way the law is written...essentially you need to be able to see a person is in a vehicle. You can see someone in the vehicle with 5% in broad daylight so that is legal. I've had my windows done for years now without any hassle.
Thank goodness I found your vid... I'm in NC & I'm getting my windows tinted in the morning... I've been watching these vids, trying to decide, do I go 35% & stay legal or do I do what I truly want & get them as dark as I want... I have been paying attention to these cars around town & most are blacked out... I'm thinking like you, I don't think the cops are gonna go out of there way to pull me for just my tint... So anyway, I, again, agree with you about 35% not being nearly dark enough. I should just keep my money... But since it's my car, my money, my decision... I'm thinking 20% will do the trick! (maybe 15%) Thank you my man.... So glad I found this! God bless & peace
Of course im in philly & I do get pulled for tint from time to time(maybe 2 times in the past 3 years.)... in which I have NOT recieved a citation either time. I currently have and have always had on this vehicle, 5 percent on all doors & rear windows. My windshield is also protected with a 35 percent film.
I only had one cop pull me over for tinted windows. He actually followed me into the next county. He wouldnt take any paperwork from me and he couldnt issue a ticket. But he did measure my 35% tint and told me i had to change it lol.....i went darker on my current car. Im at 20% which i feel is perfect for me. Ive had my challenger for 2 years now with 20% and ive had no flack from any police officers. Im in northern va
Nope, Georgia is not laxed at all. They are strict with tint and it is 35% on all windows especially if you're in a sadan, you can't do dark in the back & light in the front; all windows have to be 35%. If you're in a SUV or truck then you can do dark in the back, 35% in the front. But if I tint my windows I'm not going to worry about that cuz it's highly unlikely to get stopped for tinted windows... with that said LOL on my undergrad car I had really dark tint and I did get a ticket but that was like 10 years ago. 😂
Here in Los Angeles, tint laws are 4 inch strip of tint on top front windshield, front 2 windows can't be lower than 70% and rear windows can be as dark as you want them. The only way around that is with a medical slip which requires you to carry a permit, and i have heard those can come with not being allowed to drive at nighttime.
Depends on your location and crime rate, in heavy crim areas .. such as where im from , new orleans , yes they do car , when you get pulled over they want to make sure they are safe by knowing how many people are in the vehicle and if they are carrying any weapons, im not an officer but i do understand the safety protocol thats needed, that being said ... the wont stop you for tint but also depending on the officer and his/her mood you never know 😂 ive been stopped for tint before while driving threw a bad area in my city and i was let go with no ticket, but i did get pulled over due to the tint!
My thing is it’s been ruled that your vehicle is an extension of your home. I can close my blinds at home so no one can see in. I don’t see why I don’t have the same luxury in my vehicle.
CA says you can't have the front windows tinted at all, but the windshield can be down to the legal line. I had 20% all around and my windshield was 3" below the legal limit. Got pulled over 1 time for it, told the cop it was legal in my cars registered state and got let go. Car was registered in NM which allows for 20% all around. (no emissions or state inspection where my wife's family is from in NM)
I have 20% on my front with 25% windshield tint and ive been driving with it for a year and haven't gotten a ticket (now i have to knock on wood). And i've notice that my state has become very very lax over tint over the course of a few years. I think the cops are starting to stop ticketing it as much since now its every 1/5 cars are tinted now. In my state front tint, regardless how light/dark is 100% Illegal. Nice video btw and nice whip.
My point exactly. In my state even cops are driving around in 10% and less tint man. So I think cops are just a lot more lax on that stuff. But I think that if you made it obvious like 5% all the way around and like 10% on your front, I think u would get pulled. But even with 15% on my car during the day, you can still see in it a bit.
Knockout 360 Thanks brother, nice charger as well. question for you. you ever look at your tint and say 'I want it darker?' cause I want to drop my 20% sides to 5% or very least 10%.
Thank you, sorry for the late reply haha. I really like your whip bro. I had a charger and i just recently went 5% now wrap on my car lol. I just decided to say fuck it haha.
Depends on the state. Enforcement is based on the individual cop, as with most things. I'm in Michigan, it's hit or miss on any given day, but you certainly open yourself up to be pulled over. In Michigan, you can also get a medical exemption. I will admit, I see more and more cars with tint than ever before, especially FCA cars (chargers, durangos, challengers, etc...)
@WILSON GOMEZ I have 20% on the sides, 5% rear, 35% windshield and I’ve gotten pulled over multiple times. Mainly in Suffolk County but I have a tint exemption sticker so I’m immune to tint tickets 🥴 If you wear glasses, print the tint exemption form, take it to your doctor to fill out, then mail it to the dmv. 🙃
I’ve never pulled over for tint ever I used to have 5% all the way around they are more likely to pull you over but I don’t think they do it for the tint just kinda to see what’s going on cops be bored lol
Having tints stops being for breaking in. Less they see they won't see chargers or left out items They should allow the trunk and back passenger side. Back seat have tints.
It is recommend that you have a eye exam every one to two years. If YOU cannot see out of anything darker than 30% that is YOUR fault and maybe need a doctor to look at that... Do you wear sunglasses? "For comfortable vision on sunny days, sunglasses should block 75 to 90 percent of visible light." Meaning that most sunglasses are 10-25%VLT. I have 5% all around with 50 on the windshield and 5% tint strip and I see just fine at night. I have never rolled down my windows (rolling down tinted windows increases the chance of the tint getting scratched and looking bad anyway). I live in the country away from street lights and any other type of lights and I can see all I need to at night just make sure to turn your interior lights to the lowest dim setting possible (which you can still see really well and never have to adjust those lights also). Every time I go to the city, about 28,500 people, and drive with street lights you can see out the side windows pretty well if you just look. After tinting my car like this it only took about 3 days to get used to it and now I will never have anything different tinted on my personal vehicle again.
California resident here. We can use as dark a tint we want on the rear 3 windows, but no tint on windshield or driver/passenger windows. I've met quite a lot of people who get fix it tickets for tint on the front 3 and end up having the tint removed because they keep getting pulled over.
I can't do anything less than 5%. I live in Vegas and the sun absolutely COOKS and BAKES the interior of your car without a tint. The cops are pretty chill here thank God.
I've never been bothered. Live in jersey drove all the way to Philly & up to Newark area and new Brunswick in jersey. Cops just look at me but never pull me over. To be fair I have NJ State police sticker so yee
@@Knockout360 yeah most likely. I live in Ocean county they don't really seem to mess with us. My dads buddy's a cop in my town he said they don't even care if you have windshield tint. His exact works "It's a bullshit ticket" .
I feel the same way you do on the situation, I have 5% all around including a strip on the front windshield and I don’t get any trouble from cops, I live in Hawaii btw. There are times when there’s a cop next to me or behind me and I already know they’re looking at my car but they don’t do anything. I feel if you’re not doing any harm on the road, they’ll leave you be. I do have a friend who got caught for his tint twice recently but he got pulled over because he was in the carpool lane when he wasn’t supposed to be and he also had decals on his front and back windshields. The only time they do catch people for tint are during DUI check points. The fee for tint if you get caught down here is $287 per window, kinda ridiculous if you ask me.
New York just changed the law 70% vlt on front windows or you fail inspection. Kind of stupid. 35% should be the standard for fronts. Not to dark and officers can see thru but yet not clear like 70%. Stop punishing us for making our vehicles look nice and be cooler on the inside bc it’s blocking sunlight. But I do totally understand the hazard any tint darker than 35% on front causes officers. So with that said the new federal mandate for all states should be 35 on front and anything on rears
I completely agree, I actually just got my car tinted today an 2 police cars ford explorers” also have tints darker then mine including the front doors .
Ya I’m in ct n it’s just an excuse to pull u over. For example if it’s 3am they will use tint or anything they can find for a reason to make sure ur not drinking or up to something
I've been pulled over 3 times and ticketed once for 20% tint in Missouri. There's a place here called Oakview, where the cops specifically look for cars that are tinted below the 35% legal limit for front windows, or don't have a front license plate, to make money for their city. I got a fix it ticket and had to go to court to prove I removed my tint. Luckily, the judge didn't have the officer go outside and check my car cause I didn't remove it even though I told the judge I did. 😄I just bought a new car this month and did 35% tint because I'm older now and don't need that grief in my life anymore.
Well they shouldn’t care. The vehicle is an extension of one’s person, an extension of their home so owners/operators have a right to privacy to the extent possible.
I had 15% on my old car, and you can easily see through it. If it's not 10% or darker, then it's a waste of money. I have 5% on my current car for 4 years, and have never been pulled over for it.
In California (Bay Area) you get pulled over and ticketed on the regular basis. City Cops generally will not pull you over, however the Highway Patrol will pull you over nearly every time. The law states no tint is allowed on the front windows. Its a fix it ticket / Pay $50 after removing the tint.
I bought a car from someone that had it tinted down in FL that was too dark for VA. Drove it for 4-5 years w/ no problems and drove it onto a military base w/ MPs everyday. One day my wife borrowed my car and got pulled over for the tint. I just payed the $90 fine thinking that it wouldn't happen again. A few months later I was driving to church on a Sunday morning and got pulled by a cop that apparently had nothing better to do. I pulled the tint off, took pictures and went to court and pled "not guilty" since the inspection stations are under the state police and since windows are part of the vehicle's equipment and the car passed inspection for the previous four years I wasn't the one at fault. They were for passing a vehicle with "faulty equipment". The judge let me go w/ no fines or fees on that basis, plus proof that I had removed the tint. That was about 15 years ago though. I see a lot of super dark tint now and wonder how they're getting away with it. Most cops must not care. Which stands to reason b/c they don't even bother pulling people over on a major nearby state highway unless you're doing around 15 mph over. I've been told by a state trooper that they're too busy dealing w/ drugs and other issues.
Joe Stevens, it really depends on what you want the tint for. If just for heat and glare rejection you could go with a high quality nano ceramic tint @ %35 and have good heat rejection. If you want that limo look %35 won't make you happy. Also as a side note most cars come with factory tint tho very light it will lower your value. So if the tint is 35 and your glass is already at 20 you'll be too dark to pass inspection.
I live in hoke county Nc And i have 15% all the way around and only one cop ever does anything so i just keep my windows half way down to let SOME light in
I both know they do, since I've seen it, and I also don't think many really care about enforcing it much (as long as you can still someone through it...)

Coming from a cop... I all depends on the officer you encounter... we are all different.
Understood. Situational basis.
Frankie Boots if I need pc then boom😂
Agree. Me personally don't care about your tint shade, I'm out looking for the real deal
@@sertsert-uz6jn I hope you get pulled over just for saying that lmao

Jordan Evans pretty much.
Dang that sucks

"5 percent tint so you can't see up in my window" - slim thug
My windows are dark, asked a friend who is a cop, about it. He said if you get pulled over, roll your windows down and turn on your dome light if it's dark out, cops get nervous when they can't see inside a car they just pulled over.
Dude u are absolutely right.. a cop told me the same!!
Yup I always do that. I would want that as a cop for sure.
That fair enough, I could do that because I know if I was a cop I wouldn't feel comfortable approaching a car with limo tint.
Can't handle being nervous, which is part of the job? Don't be a cop.
That has ALWAYS worked for me.If the police are at ease....its a good chance he'll feel you have nothing to hide and just give you a warning or just let you go.
Most cops won’t pull you over for it anymore but if they are pulling you over for something else they might give you a ticket for that as well.
I totally agree
New York state legal tint is 70%... pretty much no point in tinting at that level... that being said, I'll be getting 20% relatively soon
Oracle Gaming NYC SUCKS ASS!!
Just be prepared to rip it off during your N.Y. inspection!
You’ll be getting harassed relatively soon
Jonboy I I got a guy 😜
Oracle Gaming, you said it’s legal 70% all windows or in the front?
I livd in Florida and I love having dark tints all around. It’s hot out here and the sun bothers me a lot plus I love privacy
I live in Florida also I have 5% tint & looove it!!
Ever been pulled over for it?
I got 5% just to protect my left arm from frying my skin while driving. Other reason? Just like someone else said, so I can pick my nose or whatever in private. And honestly, most of the time I don't want other drivers looking in anyway, being all nosy and not minding their own business. Lastly, I've noticed my passengers appreciate the extra privacy and added sun/heat/glare protection as well, and it makes them feel a little "VIP", which is a nice perk.
Ha HA we all have our reasons right?
I drive for Lyft and my passengers love the limo tint that I got.
Darkness has nothing to do with heat rejection
@@PhaseSkater correct. I got that cermaic and is the best investment
I have 20% Ceramic all around and it's perfect I think. Amazing how much heat it blocks too.
You made a very good points about the difference between VLT and actual heat / skin cancer causing UV rays.
That's why i only use FormulaOne Pinnacle Series. I've had it on 3 cars and it never fades or degrades in any way, ever, and blocks the most UV rays which protects you and your interior. It's expensive sh*t, but it's the best tint on the market.
D LG what shops carry that kind of tint?
EdDude It's owned by Llumar, a well known maker of all kinds of window tint. You can search for FormulaOne Pinnacle Series dealers/installers here.... northamerica.llumar.com/about-us/window-film-brand/formula-one-high-performance-auto-tint
They only care about it when they haven’t gave any tickets in the whole month
Exactly
In most states, having illegal tint is a secondary offense. Meaning, they are not supposed to pull you over for the tint alone, you have to commit a primary offense first, i/e a traffic violation. Once they have a reason to pull you over then they can check your tint and cite you for it if they want.
What states are like this?
In Texas. They don’t give af. It’s hot as hell. And they let us be with dark tint. I even have 20%on my windshield
Yeah man. I’m coming to Texas man.
I’m about to get 20 all around too. I’ve never had any problems with Texas cops and all my past cars w dark tint
Lmao this is Faxt 5% all around 😂
Same here in Louisiana, way down south anyways.
I'm in Arizona and they stop me, hot as he'll here let me get 20%

In New Korea AKA New Jersey. We can apply any darkness to the back windows. No legal tint can be applied to the front. At least we have the back dark but it looks weird with just the back. However undercover and sheriffs are above the law. They can do as they please because the law doesn’t apply to them unfortunately.
The same applies here in NC. The state trooper and local PD have %5 all the way around, but we can’t.. it’s weird..

I literally was farting when I read this
Growing up in Burlington, NC, I never had any problems with the tint from the cops. My problem was having to find someone for it to pass inspection.
Honestly. You just have to “know a guy”. Lol
High Point, NC ain't like that 😡 had 18% all around and 35% on the whole windshield and a year later a cop pulled me over on some BS. He just wanted to give a ticket that day, as the person driving my car wasn't speeding.
By the way, I know a guy ;)
Same in Texas. And I know like 5 of them lmao
Just have your windows down when you go in for inspection
If you are going to put window tint on any of your vehicle windows that is darker than what the law allows you should go the legal route (if possible), get a signed note from your Physician specifying why you need the darker tint - (preventing skin cancer \ stop headaches from exposure to sunlight). Based on current law in most states that is what you need in order to not get ticketed.
I have 15% all around on 1 of my vehicles, and 15% on front side windows and 5% on rear windows on 2nd vehicle here in Ohio and have never had a problem with law enforcement while driving.
Charles Bevan it will not prevent you from being pulled over. If you like cops and getting tickets and held up get window tint lol
Even with 15% I have to roll the window down at night...

yes they do, got pulled over last year and got a warning and then a ticket even though I'm only 20% and had my windows down when he approached my car. Easy money for 'em. Still have the tint because I don't give a damn.
Bogdan Oros what state were you in?

@WILSON GOMEZ Wisconsin
35% can be sufficient... NOT ALL TINT IS CREATED EQUAL. Lots of people think of tint as dark, but realistically it’s any kind of film that enhances solar rejection. Even a clear ceramic film in todays market can block almost all the heat you feel while driving
Just go with high quality ceramic film at 5% and its the best of both worlds! Looks great and keeps all the heat out!
Living in Raleigh NC and I had 5% and never got pulled over for my tint... I personally was visually impaired from it... 🤣😂😅😆😁😄

You never ever got pulled over? Have drove pass a cop before with the tint?
In Louisiana it’s 12% back windshield 25% rear windows and 35% front windows and anything on the windshield besides a legal sized visor is legal. I have 5% all the way around with 40% on my windshield and never been messed with
Also from Louisiana and i did 35% all around and I regret it, wish i would’ve gone darker.
Layer it.
Justin White also in Louisiana 5% all the way round and never got pulled over

I was pulled over 1 time outside fort campbell.. With 5% over the factory on a SUV. Cop was stopped right next to me at a light so i guess thats why he noticed. I had my glock with me and when I told him, he focused on that and just gave me a warning for the tint but i never took it off and havent had any other issues since.
That's what you do tell them it's factor that it came like that
In Louisiana in the past year they started checking tint during vehicle inspections and won't inspect them if the tint's too dark.
charbizzle2007 also from Louisiana, i wanted to do 20% or 5% all around but decided to play it safe with 35% all around. Local inspection guy i go to usually doesn’t meter for 35%.Sometimes i regret not going darker though.
That's why I didn't go darker on my truck. There's people tho that just dont care and give you the brake tag anyways lol
Been running 5 percent for a little over 15 years in Houston and have never been pulled over for it.

Texas is very open state not too hard on the rules.
Sometimes I walk rather than taking my car . It's when you're out walking on roads and streets that a person realizes they can feel vulnerable when a car with very dark window tint is nearby . It's just not a very good feeling
That’s actually a very poignant point u made. Whenever I see a heavily tinted car close to me. I feel the same!

Can u see with 5% Tint? I mean is it still functional?
Knockout 360 .....Yes, I can see. It's a little harder to see at night though. I think it's still functional.
I heard you cant just pay the ticket and leave the tint on. That the CHP want you to take it off. What happens if you refuse? always been curious.
Car Jockey .....I've never heard that before. If you leave it on and just pay the fine you can be stopped again and
re-ticketed.
Officer was in unmarked charger but gave me no ticket they just said “it looks cool” “make home ok” lmao I got 5% too
Yeah pretty accurate for metro detroit but even though here in michigan any tint on the front windows is illegal i’ve gotten away with 35% for years and never been stopped for it but got stopped frequently when I ran 5% so living here you can’t overdo it and can’t drive like an idiot and you’ll be good
They care when it's time to reach that quota
I completely agree, I live in NC as well. I have 35% on my car (Windows are extremely reflective so you have to be point blank range to see in it. But I know people who have 5% on their cars and they haven’t been pulled yet. I just don’t want to go out of my way to get my car to pass inspection if I went darker.
Yea you would literally have to do just that as far as going out of your way is concerned. But it’s a personal choice at the end of the day
I’ve never been pulled over for a tint but recently I got a ticket for reckless driving and the officers gave me the ticket for tint as well.
In Los Angeles the cops have more crazy shit to worry about to if you ever get stopped for illegal tint they must me super bored
I can't imagine living out in LA.
Are you sure? Chp? Downtown la bike cops? Beverly Hills?

5% is wild when you think about it man. You could literally have a Arsenal in the back seat and no one would know. Lol. Totally agree with you
What about when you get pulled over, all windows down and they ask you to roll up your windows to check?

The only way around that is with a medical slip which requires you to carry a permit, and i have heard those can come with not being allowed to drive at nighttime.
LA is wild man
Depends on your location and crime rate, in heavy crim areas .. such as where im from , new orleans , yes they do car , when you get pulled over they want to make sure they are safe by knowing how many people are in the vehicle and if they are carrying any weapons, im not an officer but i do understand the safety protocol thats needed, that being said ... the wont stop you for tint but also depending on the officer and his/her mood you never know 😂 ive been stopped for tint before while driving threw a bad area in my city and i was let go with no ticket, but i did get pulled over due to the tint!
Northern California squad checking in .... East Oakland ask about it ... 20% all around tint film 3m color stable the best ...
You HT bro?
My thing is it’s been ruled that your vehicle is an extension of your home. I can close my blinds at home so no one can see in. I don’t see why I don’t have the same luxury in my vehicle.
Don't we all wish it was like that?
I know in Mississippi and Alabama will just cause they write tickets like there's no tomorrow for the smallest things.
I heard that about cops from there to north Carolina. Here in Oregon they're chill as heck
Nice Camaro btw.
Car Jockey with your 20% do you have trouble seeing out at night?
Depends on the state. Enforcement is based on the individual cop, as with most things. I'm in Michigan, it's hit or miss on any given day, but you certainly open yourself up to be pulled over. In Michigan, you can also get a medical exemption. I will admit, I see more and more cars with tint than ever before, especially FCA cars (chargers, durangos, challengers, etc...)
“Are police officers going out of their way to pull you over for tints?” ...... come to NYC. 😂
I have heard man.. I heard up north is mad wild witg tint laws
In my experience just don’t give them a reason to pull you over like speeding, tail light out etc and you’ll be fine.
I’ve never pulled over for tint ever I used to have 5% all the way around they are more likely to pull you over but I don’t think they do it for the tint just kinda to see what’s going on cops be bored lol
I live in Illinois, I had my 20% window tint over a week now, I passed a few cops and even unmarked cars and they don't even care about my tint
20% is not that bad at all to be honest with you man! I got 15% all around and 70 on my front glass
I got pulled over for tint in a gang area but got let go. No ticket, I was driving through the area going home.
Word. A lot of times they just wanna look in your car just to make sure u ain’t hiding anything!
Having tints stops being for breaking in. Less they see they won't see chargers or left out items
They should allow the trunk and back passenger side. Back seat have tints.
30% is the darkest you can go and still be able to see well at night without rolling the windows down totally dark enough anything darker is dumb
Oh my goodness! Thank you for your concern about my eyesight! I had no idea people felt so strongly about window tint
jbkman you’re welcome! 😊
California resident here. We can use as dark a tint we want on the rear 3 windows, but no tint on windshield or driver/passenger windows. I've met quite a lot of people who get fix it tickets for tint on the front 3 and end up having the tint removed because they keep getting pulled over.
Just roll your window down in LA when you see the police and you good
I do that now bruh
Same.
That’s too much work lol
I can't do anything less than 5%. I live in Vegas and the sun absolutely COOKS and BAKES the interior of your car without a tint. The cops are pretty chill here thank God.
I've never been bothered. Live in jersey drove all the way to Philly & up to Newark area and new Brunswick in jersey. Cops just look at me but never pull me over. To be fair I have NJ State police sticker so yee
I e heard up north is much stricter than the south
287$ per window 🤯
Best way is limo tint in the back and 35 percent in the front cali life
Coyote 50hh limo on a luxury car looks cheap 35 or lighter for luxury
New York just changed the law 70% vlt on front windows or you fail inspection. Kind of stupid. 35% should be the standard for fronts. Not to dark and officers can see thru but yet not clear like 70%. Stop punishing us for making our vehicles look nice and be cooler on the inside bc it’s blocking sunlight. But I do totally understand the hazard any tint darker than 35% on front causes officers. So with that said the new federal mandate for all states should be 35 on front and anything on rears
New York is wild, but I still see many people going mad dark tho!
You complain about 35%? Relax New York is 70% 😂😂
samuel guzman 70?????
35*
I'm here in Phoenix Az. I'm looking to do limo tint. Anyone from Az know how cops are out here?
Dude whatever you got to do to stay cool DO IT. Arizona is no joke man.
Well they shouldn’t care. The vehicle is an extension of one’s person, an extension of their home so owners/operators have a right to privacy to the extent possible.
if your black yes
emory jackson how is that? If your windows are dark they can’t tell what color you are. Next
emory jackson 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I had 15% on my old car, and you can easily see through it. If it's not 10% or darker, then it's a waste of money. I have 5% on my current car for 4 years, and have never been pulled over for it.
Yo I thought Kanye west popped out for a sec
Cool it
In California (Bay Area) you get pulled over and ticketed on the regular basis. City Cops generally will not pull you over, however the Highway Patrol will pull you over nearly every time. The law states no tint is allowed on the front windows. Its a fix it ticket / Pay $50 after removing the tint.
Sick car man I’m from your area and thought about getting tint to maybe we can ride around sometime
Interesting you're in charlotte. I am too and have been struggling to pay for 35%when i really want 20%at least. Subscribed just for the local views
U can go to any legitimate Tint shop . Sun stoppers s a reputable Tint shop and they will literally go as dark as u want. Thanks for the sub!
Joe Stevens just got my scat pack 20% all the way around I love it...perfect shade
Ceramic?
Joe Stevens, it really depends on what you want the tint for. If just for heat and glare rejection you could go with a high quality nano ceramic tint @ %35 and have good heat rejection. If you want that limo look %35 won't make you happy. Also as a side note most cars come with factory tint tho very light it will lower your value. So if the tint is 35 and your glass is already at 20 you'll be too dark to pass inspection.
In Germany.
Windshield and frontsides: 70%
Rearsides and back: 5%
I live in hoke county Nc And i have 15% all the way around and only one cop ever does anything so i just keep my windows half way down to let SOME light in
Honestly a little trick I use is to roll down a window or open sunroof when they around just to get more light in
That must suck in January
I both know they do, since I've seen it, and I also don't think many really care about enforcing it much (as long as you can still someone through it...)
You just blessed bro! 😂
Thank you brotha!
Lol
@@Knockout360 4sho no prob bro! Nice car btw...but yeah im in the the motor city (detroit) and its 50/50 here..
