Thanks so much for the call out Ted - certainly is an honor. The timing is great as I"m having an exhibition of these photographs at the CameraWorks Gallery in Scranton PA starting in May. Thanks again
@@alexalexis7899 thanks Alex - I worked for a short while as an in house photographer for a small AD agency and hated the work. Commercial work was not for me. Given that I was a young unknown photographer it’s impossible to make a living selling work through an art dealer as they want established artists with a brand that has worth for collectors.
Yes, please! We always get info on how to take better photos, better compositions, better lighting, etc. We want a in-depth break down on the business side as well! 1. Decisions between self-publishing and finding a publisher 2. Finding a quality printer digital or film. Local or online (domestic or international) 3. Different types of paper and some examples, how to get samples 4. Buying the books in bulk vs print-on-demand (with a few personal company recommendations) 5. Possibly marketing? selling the book alone vs combining with a print (or something other kind of bundle)
I have been enjoying your channel for a number of years. I get excited when you post a new one. I love it when you share the work that others have sent you. It makes me feel more connected to the world of photography. Please keep up the great work.
The showcasing and positivity for Zines is just amazing and inspiring! I would love to see your process in making one, be it something current like staying with a fixed focal length challenge, or organising older work into a collection. Either way, been thoroughly enjoying these zine showcases and commentaries and hope we see one of yours soon!
Hi Ted, love the idea of an assignment. It's really simple (for starters), just print on A4 (or letter) on copy paper and staple them together. That alone is so rewarding and you can scale as you like (better paper, stitching, have it done elsewhere ...). There are gazillions of videos explaining this ... best regards from Germany! Tom
Zines are very interesting to me. I’m trying to make a book currently, it seems the internet is saturated with companies that will help with book printing. I would like to learn more on layout and Zine creating. Awesome vid, yes it’s inspiring to see other folks work.
Hello sir, loving these videos Ted, I’m currently working on my own zine and hopefully it gets over to you. The amount of work, quality of work here is outstanding. Keep these videos coming Ted, I’d also like to see more of your own projects and images?
I've always loved your photo assignments and have learned a lot by doing them. I'm also a huge proponent of getting our work printed, so I do. Why don't you do a photo assignment that combines a project with some form of print (maybe that's where people's creativity can further come in).
I have a bunch of photos, a theme for those photos, some essays, and a desire to publish a book - but where do I go to make that possible. I know about Blurb, but what is the best way to put your first book out in the world without it costing an arm and a leg to make available? I would love to see a video on how to get our work out there in quality photo book format.
First one: its ok, but nothing great. Second one: great light, some interesting images, but lack of story in images. Third one: great presentation, very novel and cost effective. would be a great one to have in the bathroom to look and dream as you sit on the throne. Fourth one: good effort and great accomplisment on making it, but content was just kind of... ok. Fifth one: Simple, but had the best images in it. the images actually capture and told stories in the images and good capture of light.
That second Zine Philadelphia Light is amazing and beautiful. It's up there with some of the best I've seen.
Thanks so much for the call out Ted - certainly is an honor. The timing is great as I"m having an exhibition of these photographs at the CameraWorks Gallery in Scranton PA starting in May. Thanks again
Thanks David! Have a great exhibition!!
Hi David! Very nice work! Congrats. May I ask why, exactly, did you realize you wouldn’t be a professional photographer?

David, I absolutely love the work in your book. It’s truly inspiring! Would it be possible to purchase a copy?
@@chrisdutton5003 thanks Chris - sadly it’s out of print. It’s very expensive to produce. I’ll let you know if I do another run
Philadelphia Light is gorgeous!
I agree, great images from my youth, also great backstory - also love that these typically are project orientated.
Those Zines are amazing, would love to hear more about how to create them and where to get them (Blurb, etc). Thanks for sharing!
Philadelphia Light is incredibly terrific.
Good work indeed!
I loved SWIMM CALL !
Really enjoyed your positivity for all the zines you show. Your positivity has to be so encouraging to those who submit and to us who watch.
The Philadelphia Light B&W photos by Mr Puglia were beautiful! Amazing.

Ted, it is such an honored to be one of the artists featured in this posting, thank you!

I really love this series. Gives me a lot of inspiration! Thank you so much

Thank you for showcasing this great work in such a great way! Inspiring as always, Sir.
Awesome. You asked us if we wanted zines, and you deliver. Thanks!!!
Maybe do a zine from start to finish so nobody gets left behind and we can all follow along
Part of the beauty of these zines is how unique each one is.

Nicely done, such a great way to showcase the work from a variety of photographers. And inspiring too.
far more interesting than another review of gear - thank you
THANK YOU.. that first book really hit home with some similar ideas ive had
Excellent stuff. In the UK, you could use something like the newspaper club to print a newsprint style zine.
Love these mail call videos. The work is very inspiring. Would love to see a video on making a zine from an assignment.
Thank you Ted for sharing those awesome zines. I would love to see a a video on how to approach making a zine/ photobook.
These videos are such an inspiration 😍
Congratulations to your audience. These are some amazing publications. BTW: I am fascinated by the kinetic object in your background!
These are incredibly inspirational. Amazing stuff!

His acting reminds me of Hammy the squirrel in "Over the Hedge".
Just after consuming caffeine...
Thanks for inspiration.

Whoa ! Magnificent +
I actually made a zine based on a photo assignment you posted back in 2020... I've been meaning to send it to you but, you know, life. haha.
I really like how there is no airbrush and natural.
Ok I'm gonna submit now
Cool stuff...........
Awesome

I'm planning to make a book in the following months so any tips would be much appreciated!

I'd love an overview of zine production. I'm still losing the battle to convince SWMBO that a largish photo quality printer is a worthy investment.
Hi Ted. I made my first photo book after watching one of your videos. Is it possible to send you a copy as a thanks for your inspiration?
Publishing your first zine for profit? How do you go about that?
YES YOU GOOD
