With both the boat and motor home you are maintaining your independence. Fran won’t have to move her weaving , just get fresh ideas as you motor to other areas and , the same with painting.

What a good idea to get a taste of trying out an other way of having an adventure that doesn't involve the physical strain of working locks when you have to stop doing it but can still travel and be part of a less physically stressful off grid life. Best way of transitioning I can think of.

We have heard that, but membership would be quite an expense for us and not many of their properties are very welcoming to dogs

That should be a big plus in your lives. I got a camper van in 2018, and it turned out to be the best thing that I have ever owned.

It’s The expawers. - Nick and Sarah, British couple based out of Andalucia but explore all over Europe and UK. They have two dogs also. Happy travels.
