I love this fridge as well, but the worst thing about it is the damn ice maker...it's the worst...takes forever to make ice, it's always getting clogged in the shoot, you need to make sure that nothing is blocking the ducts inside the freezer or else it won't make ice. I bought ice cube trays to keep ice stocked...this ice maker irritates my soul
We miss the family hub! We used to connect and put our shopping list on there. Also loved the pictures. The screen is mostly useless now. They took all the nice features away. I also hate that you have to have the smart things app with your location on all the time to work. I have to turn it off every time I leave it. I don't use the app much at all. I love the fridge but the tablet attached is practically useless now.
I saw your previous video about this fridge, and I was shocked to see the family hub not being a laggy mess. My family got one after the update, and my first impression was that the family hun is a bad gimic. It's so sad that samsung ruined a pretty alright feture with bloatware. Other than the family hub issue, I'd say its a pretty good fridge. Samsung ice makers are usually a problem area, but this fridge manages to avoid having a bad ice maker due to the fact that a. The ice maker is not in the fridge compartment, so it doesnt have a competing temperature. And b. Because its in the freezer, the ice maker gets to be fairly simple and there for less prone to braking. Its a good fridge, but unfortunately, its a shell of a good family hub. I think there may be a similar model without the family hub, so for future buyers the veraion without the hub may be worth it.
Just got the Bespoke fridge at Costco. Looks like I can just access shopping list without going through that recipe app and recipes arent popping up randomly. Seems kinds gimmicky, but I'm a sucker for having the "cool stuff." I'm sure the cool factor will wear off soon enough lol
Is your fridge still going? I'm actually looking to buy this fridge but I hear samsung had alot of complaints but willing to give it a shot because I really love the fridge 😂
family hub still exist you have to run it through smart things app but its all the same it just now can interfwce with all the other samsung connected devcies on smart things. Same old family hub
I thought I would be able to write messages, send voice notes and messages etc from phone to fridge. Apparently the Family Hub app allowed that but the day my fridge was delivered the app became obsolete and switched to smart things grrr. Still a great fridge though. Alexa works great for shopping list and other alexa things lol
My fridge keep restarting. It always go back to the "welcome to family hub" screen. I can't even do factory reset because it takes time and it's resetting before the factory reset done. What should I do? Just have this for a week and this issue occur.
Hi thanks for this info! We just bought this fridge (it hasn't arrived yet). So you're saying the Android app Family Hub no longer needs to be downloaded? The fridge will work only with the SmartThings app?
I believe so. I never deleted the family hub app so not positive. But when you turn on the screen, it will provide you with a qr code to get the smart things app.
We just bought the fridge as well. I tried to install the Family Hub app and was unable to get it to recognize that I was already signed into the fridge on my Samsung account. After some digging I did discover that it is supposed to work with Smartthings now. I already had that installed as we do have a number of "smart home" features that work thru the Smartthings hub. I was disappointed in the features. I was looking forward to being able to manage my grocery list from the fridge and my phone. I figured they'd make use of Samsung Notes. Nope. They went thru that bloatware cooking app. I was further disappointed in the fact that you can't uninstall the bloatware apps. Don't use Alexa? Too bad, you can't uninstall it. Don't have a Ring camera? Too bad, you can't uninstall it. Want to install some other, more useful apps? Too bad, there's no way to do it. Overall, it's a nice fridge. I like many of the features. I'm not sure I would have bought it knowing how useless the software is currently.
Update - it looks like they finally added a Shopping List that you can access from the Smartthings app. There is a Shopping list app on the fridge that syncs up to the Refrigerator in Smartthings. You can add the Refrigerator as a shortcut on your phone's home screen for quicker access. Additionally, you can, I believe, send the shopping list to Instacart, Alexa, etc. Not sure if I'll use that option but just having something that syncs to your phone is a step in the right direction.
We just got rid of that fridge . It produced a lot of condensation on the freezer side. We had it serviced 2X and only had it for 1 year. Personally too many potential issues that go go wrong with it. Ended up getting a Whirpool.
Thank you for your comment. I have a ten year old Samsung fridge that started getting water inside after a couple of years. I thought that maybe they resolved things now so may have given them another chance. You pushed me to LG.
Grateful for the review. Debating whether or not to get this. Is the family hub worth it? Anyone have it for a while and can give good advice? All major brands seems to have their issues. Just picking the right one with the least amount of them.
If you want to connect the fridge to your phone and love the design, then definitely. But as for me, if this fridge breaks, next time I will get a regular fridge that has all the features I want, and not shell out the extra money for the family hub. My 2 cents.
Haven't been able to get to any of my shopping lists for the past couple days. Yes, I know they recently moved the Shopping Lists but as of two days ago it gets stuck in this Samsung Food loop and can't get to it on either the fridge or the phone. Does anyone know how to get around this now??
Thinking about this fridge but my neighbor has a Samsung not with the screen he’s disappointed every few months he has a repairman there fixing the ice maker.
Thanks for your wonderful reviews. I have my eyes on this fridge and was about ready to buy it from Costco after watching your first video. Then I saw this video. I'm so glad you were honest and said exactly what went wrong. I too would be super angry if I learned to love something and became super comfortable only to be wrecked by Samsung with a forced update that you weren't given a choice. Well I still do have a choice. That choice is I won't be buying this fridge. Thanks again!
I agree with this review I bought this fridge over two years ago and it was amazing, we used family hub app and enjoyed quite a few of the features however the past few updates have taken away so many features and basically caused me to regret making this purchase…so much potential, happy customer turned disappointed!
Thank you for your review ....i didn't like the switch either at first family hub was way easier to navigate but once i learned how to do the same thing in smart things it was okay. I still prefer family hib because of it's simplicity!
I don't think smart things was really meant for a refrigerator - more like a place to control all the smart items in your house. Family hub was better suited for the fridge.
I wanna buy it now,but as i saw in your and others videos, the iced is jumping all over the place and there are quite a lot of problems with the apps. From LG, same price, they dont have all this apps and crazy gadgets, and yes..same price...so.... which one then?
This is the update that came with my fridge. It's a bummer I really didn't get to try out the panel that much in the store and find all the limitations that I wanted it for. I was trying to do something simple yesterday. We normally have fridge magnets with common measurement conversions on them. I didn't want fridge magnets on the new fridge. So all I wanted was to add those conversions to one of the panes. So let's add a pane. oh, only 6 allowed. OK, delete some stuff off of one and you can add text. Great. Start typing them in and it only allows 4 lines :-( Ok, I'll just break it up into multiple. Add 4 more lines, going good. Oh, I can only add 2 sets of text. :-( You've got to be kidding me. I've added about 100 bytes of data. Ok, delete that. Oh, there's a memo feature. Start typing into that. Arrrrr, only 9 lines with 5 memos total. OK fine, I'll just scan the stupid magnet and save it as a picture then choose to either get it on my phone to upload, or save it to a flash drive and stick it into the usb port by the tablet switch. That worked. I can display a million byte file, but can't add 400 bytes of text, go figure. I can't get to google docs, the shopping list is lame, you can't add the nice shopping list app on my phone that works like you'd expect because you can't add any apps to the fridge. OK, recipes. They are neat. I want to add one. Oh, can't do that. I can only choose theirs. Really? Morning brief, cool. Good thing I like NPR, because that’s your only choice. I see that I can add internet shortcuts by pressing the handy house icon when I’m on the page, great. Maybe I'll get around the limitations by adding links. When I do, I get a big ugly square gray symbol with nothing in it, with the link text below twice. Can’t change it, can’t rename it, can’t resize it, can't get rid of the big space wasting square that’s using precious space on one of the 6 panes I’m allowed. I stopped doing that because I’m sure there’s some other limitation like I can only add 3 links to a pane or something stupid like that. edit: I found a way to add links that doesn't look like garbage. There's an internet widget that can display your favorites. Great. I added a bunch of favorites that I often use. I look at the widget and there's only 8 there. I hit configure and try to turn on more only to be told that only 8 is allowed. Maybe I can add another widget, nope, only one allowed on the entire display. Thwarted again. :-( This seems like a college student's project they never really got to finish. I wonder how long it will be before I open this thing up and replace the guts with a $35 raspberry pi that can do a 1000 times more things.
You think so? I guess it' depends on which features you are looking for. Next time I may skip the screen and focus more on the interiors. Thank you for watching and commenting!
I just got this fridge, after the update and have been struggling to figure out how to use it because the directions are limited & most everything I come across gives old directions. I’m pissed. This is not the refrigerator I thought I was buying. The camera for the fridge doesn’t even work, it’s zoomed in and I can only see a small distorted portion of what’s inside. I can’t figure out how to change or fix it. I was laughing my butt off watching your video 😂, that’s how I feel about this stupid fridge too.
I believe there's a setting you can use for "wake up" mode. I have it set to wake up when it senses motion, but I think you can have it just wake up to touch instead.
Has anyone figured out how to add multiple users so like for instance me and my wife can both see the shopping list from our phones? The old app was super easy to use.
I don't even use the samsung shopping list anymore. I'm currently using an app called "Out of Milk" and you can share it with others. This shopping list app is better than Family Hub ever was.
I’m ready to sell my fridge!!! I hate the family hub and find it is limiting. I also am beyond frustrated with the ice maker and my doors are constantly not closing.
Booo! That really sucks. It's bad enough that the app is lame, but if the actual fridge doesn't work then it's a real problem. I hope you find something better!
That's hilarious you noticed that! 🤣 But it's interesting that you keep yours in the same spot. I have it hanging from a magnet 😂 It's not that cool though, but it's cheap and gets the job done.
I’m thinking of getting this refrigerator! I think you shouldn’t got if you were going to complain about it I’m sure there’s a to change settings on it just call Samsung.
@@CheapCheeky have you had to get serviced yet for anything and if so how long did it take them to come out? I’m trying to get more information on Samsungs appliance’s before I purchase any of them. Thank you 😊
Yep. Won't be buying this fridge. Your original video had me excited and I wanted to get it but after diving deeper, and watching this video, I think if I want to waste money there's better ways to do it. Sad that Samsung is intent on ruining user experience. The recipe malware is really what sealed the deal for me. Makes me rethink bothering to get anything smart device like anymore because ultimately they will all go the mandatory malware route. Oh well. Another 10 years of a regular, boring fridge I guess.
They just did another update because as of today I lost my shopping list on my Smart Things App just got this frig 3 months ago If its not broke leave it alone Samsung
Seriously? I knew they were getting rid of Shoply - did anyone ever use that? I feel like the functionality is gone. Now it's just a sexy looking fridge
I don’t think she would be old enough to understand that reference mate, but then again I am only 34 so I may be a little young too, but I know, I know indeed.
OMG. I figured it out. 😂 I hate that it took me so long to figure out something that should be super simple to do. I am not technically challenged. This is just way harder than it needs to be. And I love the smart things app, always have. But family hub should still be a separate app, in my opinion. Or at least needs better integration.
Thank you!!! I don't know why they couldn't just add Smart Things as an additional app and kept the Family Hub. The old Family Hub just made sense for the fridge, right? Smart Things is just for all Samsung products.
Don't buy samsung fridges... They break frequently and samsung expire the spare parts so frequently that you will be unable to get them repaired within 3 years. Four people from my department had Samsung fridges that broke within 4 years of purchase. Mine broke twice within 3 years.

Hi how is your fridge now in 2024? Looking to buy this mod
I still have it, but I barely bother with the app. I just use it to look at the weather and the calendar. I hope you enjoy yours!
I love this fridge as well, but the worst thing about it is the damn ice maker...it's the worst...takes forever to make ice, it's always getting clogged in the shoot, you need to make sure that nothing is blocking the ducts inside the freezer or else it won't make ice. That is the most common complaint I've heard from most people. I've been lucky so far, but I won't be surprised if it conks out on me too.
Thanks for your review. Is there any possibility to Turn off the screen when you dont use so it gets totally black ? As a smartphone?
I think there's a few different screen options. I have mine set to wake up when I'm near it. You can probably set it to wake up when you tap it.
We miss the family hub! We used to connect and put our shopping list on there. Also loved the pictures. The screen is mostly useless now. They took all the nice features away. For sure! My next fridge will be chosen based on the storage features. The screen is not necessary.

My husband likes the Bespoke too - but he wants the one without the app. 😀
I got the 4 door flex but i don't have an option to enable alexa on my version how did you get that window to pop up
Is it updated to the latest version? Tap the screen and see if it's available in your widgers
Thanks for the update. i always wondered how well the screens and tech worked.
The short answer - slow! But it's still kind of neat either way. Thanks for watching and commenting 💖

Aww. That sucks! It feels like a bait and switch doesn't it? Glad you are getting use out of your Alexa at least.
Is the stainless steel hard to keep clean
It shows fingerprints, but so does the LED screen just as much.
I agree 100 percent with your comments.
It was fine. Now I'm having problems after the software download.
Exactly! I'm sorry you're dealing with the same thing.

I don't think so. But you can watch YT videos!

Makes me rethink bothering to get anything smart device like anymore because ultimately they will all go the mandatory malware route.
Oh well. Another 10 years of a regular, boring fridge I guess.
Aww I'm sorry to dash your dreams. But at the same time I might have saved you a $1000 bucks!
Doesn’t work with apple. I can’t link your Netflix from your phone to the fridge unless you own a Samsung phone
Oh interesting. That's good to know.
Mine is logged into my RUclips account and I have an iPhone. I wish I could mirror my iPhone tho
Yeah I said the same thing the update fucked the fridge up
Yup!!
thank you for saving me from buying a fridge with the family hub
Happy to help!
I just bought one!!
They just did another update because as of today I lost my shopping list on my Smart Things App just got this frig 3 months ago If its not broke leave it alone Samsung
Seriously? I knew they were getting rid of Shoply - did anyone ever use that? I feel like the functionality is gone. Now it's just a sexy looking fridge
my fridge doesnt cool
you should get the HAL up date
It will be the last AI you'll ever use
What is that?
I don’t think she would be old enough to understand that reference mate, but then again I am only 34 so I may be a little young too, but I know, I know indeed.
I. Hate. This. Update. The grocery list doesn't sync and I can't figure out how to connect to multiple Samsung accounts so everyone can access it.
Great Review , Gorgeous lady
Thank you! 🤗
This update is pure trash and Samsung completely missed its audience.
Totally agree! It seems that they made it for consumers of their general products. But it has nothing to do with the fridge.
I dont need an ipad on my fridge
I don't blame you
Don't buy samsung fridges... They break frequently and samsung expire the spare parts so frequently that you will be unable to get them repaired within 3 years. Four people from my department had Samsung fridges that broke within 4 years of purchase. Mine broke twice within 3 years.
Yikes! That sucks!
Totally negative..foh. why buy it if you are gonna dig it
Don't buy Samsung appliance... they don't stand behind quality of their product... I have 6 appliances and they all have had issues...
Damn so depressing I wish I could I unwatch this from my life now...
Haha. I hope you don't lose sleep over it.
You hate your life don't you 😊
Absolutely.
if you don't like it, don't buy it, you don't know how it works.
How would you know you don't like it unless you buy it? Hopefully this video will help viewers decide for themselves.
Clean your fridge. 🤮
Ok.
Clean your heart.
