I still own and wear my special release factory-dyed purple 501s that I bought as a teenager in 1987. I'll be turning 53 this year, and yes, they still fit just barely- they were one size too big when I bought them. The buttonholes are slightly frayed, there is now a tiny threadbare patch on the "knife pocket" (that's what we used to call those little pockets back in the day), and one thread in the fabric on one of the legs has frayed. That is the extent of wear, after 36 years of myself, my wife, and for a couple of years my little brother wearing them at least once every week or two. I wouldn't buy a new pair of Levis- the quality is absolutely awful. The only jeans I've bought recently that are as good as 30+ year old Levis were from the clearance rack at a store I'm not going to name (not the one that begins with W!), and they cost me $6.00 per pair. They don't even have a brand name, and were made in South-East Asia. They are almost perfect knock-offs of Levis 505s from thirty years ago, heavy denim and all. The retail price was originally $10.00, which means Levis could easily still have the same quality and remain profitable. It gives me no pleasure to say this- I've worn Levis all my life. But being cheated will make anyone angry eventually, and Levis company leadership will apparently have to learn that lesson the hard way, which makes me sad and disgusted. P.S.: Kudos to whoever chose the music; I have no idea who the artist is, but that song is pretty good...
After many years with several pairs of jeans from a variety of brands i've come to the conclusion that if you want a nice heavy duty pair of jeans to work and play in you have to make them yourself (with a sewing machine)
I wore Levi's for decades, and noticed a quality problem and crotch holes. I mended my Levi's by buying a thicker fabric brand. Whadya know? They cost less.
things that last are out the window, major brand may have begun with a higher standard, business is a single track machine profit margin & this model is followed by mom n pips too. Companies outside doing things better, eventually get sucked up by a conglomerate & whatever it is soon is only the brand name & the product becomes something less, like Red Top batteries. The stream of all products is pretty narrow.

Bought some levis for $80 at urban outfitters with holes already in them. Wore them one time and can't wear them again because they ripped soooo easily. nice

What is this song?! I've searched the lyrics to no luck. I even Shazam'd it and that didn't give me anything. Was this song made specifically for this jean repair video??? What's the deal?!
Man, I need a wife with these SKILLS! Those looks are just a bonus. came here to see if I could do it by myself. Conclusion = buy new jeans or call a tailor......
My Levi jeans have never ripped and I wear them throughout all seasons. I'd bet they can last another 5+ years. Maybe I just have good luck in finding decent quality pairs. One things for sure, never buy them online, always go for the store.
Why bother? when I was a teen in the 80's we purposefully made holes...it was such that companies like Levi's started 'distressing' the jeans at the factory and charged extra!
that has nothing to do with thick thighs it's just general wear and tear, i have a hole in my favorite pair from how often i wore em.... haven't thrown em away cause i plan on learning how to fix em.
It's absolutely nauseating trying to follow along with all these needless jump cuts. Quit screwing around. You didn't make a tutorial at all. This is an ad.
how about a tutorial on how to repair a blown out crotch area haha, seriously though... need that tutorial.
I agree completely, the crotch in those jeans was going let's see them fix that.

yes yes yes please

I had the acid-washed green ones, and I wore red Caprizo Oxfords (shoes) with a white shirt and a skinny red leather tie!
How about a toutorial on how to make high quality jeans that lasts longer than a few months?
Put in your wardrobe.
less washing & air dry, my friend does not place her good items in a dryer, all the lint was your clothes, air dry = no lint
jeans wear out, washing them def does, clean is nice, yes each wash & they are a little less

Yeah that always happens to me as well !
Same here. I buy no names now Better quality and lasting longer.
levi's & diesel are about the cut & the look, durability is not necessarily good quality. If you enjoy looking like a box
@@crypttonite That may be but those of us who are older knew Levi jeans as being both good looking and long lasting.

I recently saw a Levi's video where they intentionally put holes in jeans. This seems like a much better idea.

Good jeans in the video and deserve a try, while also welcome to try the custom perfect fit jeans online Amazon. It's cheap and high-qualty.
Great video plzz tell me about your sewing machine
Hi Landon - thanks for the love. What would you like to know?
I was just asking about the name of the sewing machine :)
The opening shot in the video includes a Zig Zag, model #107W1. The alterations performed in the video are done with a Juki lockstitch machine.
Thank you :) Today I bought the Levis 501s its great :D
Awesome - hope you enjoy your jeans!
Muy triste pero Ordinario...pero lo del Bolsillo muy profesional excelente .
how do you repair the levis jeans in retail that already have holes as a design? is it a 511-DIY variant?

Nope. I have an old pair from my middle school days that serves as my patch supply for all my jean patches.
