    With this new level of awesomeness those who think ue4 is better, well I gotta tell you, it seems like there's something seriously wrong with your eyes, also make sure you upgrade them before entering the ue5 world ;)

      Obviously UE5 is more realistic, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better. In my opinion, video game graphics lose their charm and character when it becomes too “photorealistic”, so I prefer UE4. But that’s just my opinion.

      @@ricksterdrummer2170 But what you're describing IS artist choice NOT engine related. UE5 isnt locking you into photorealism, its introducing a way to have great dynamic GI that doesnt require hardware acceleration. You can do photorealism with UE4 (look up koola and arch viz) and you can do stylized in UE5, but you'll basically need to use baked lighting if you want GI or soft shadows if you choose UE4. From technical standpoint yes UE5 is an upgrade. The fact that people in the comment section are arguing over artistic choices, but using which version of the same engine looks better is baffling to me.

      @@ricksterdrummer2170 I would argue that art direction is everything and the technical ability of the engine has nothing to do with it. Just because it's capable of realistically replicating light, shadows and reflections doesn't mean that it has to look "photorealistic".

    In this static walkthrough, UE4 seems better looking to me. Yeah I know that Lumen's lighting will be more realistic with characters in the scene but yeah..yeah

      Real-Time GI is so useful in dynamic environments and Baked ones are more optimized. I think It really depends on the project.

      Yes but there are some small glitches in the GI which we hope will be fixed in the final release of the UE5.

    Base on your demo, I must say, generally, UE5 look a bit better in some aspects, on others it make the scene completely washed out, colorless. A perfect example is at 1:21. The materials, reflections, etc look awful. Realtime isn't useful if the scene look ugly. It seem you change the light source colors too because even the original look better than that on both of my pc's. I made some UT4 maps base on Soul assets and the original Soul : cave scene as way more colors and contrast than your presentation. Brief, your demo doesn't sell UE5 for me at all.

      Thank you for your feedback, I think it's mostly because of the fog settings, enabling volumetric fog in the UE5 version seems not working so good for this scene.

      well the human eye sees the world washed out. ue 4 looks more like photography where everything is sharp

    Imagine trying to do a ue5 comparison without even using nanite.
    Soul Cave is a ue4 map. Why don't you compare Valley of the Ancients on UE4 and UE5? Make that video. You won't, nerd.

    • @InfinityMaskStudio
      @InfinityMaskStudio  2 года назад

      The point of this video is to show how much improvement you will get by only opening an old project in UE5, Valley of the Ancient wont be playable at all in UE4 even if you could be able to open it.

    • @InfinityMaskStudio

      The UE4 version is using static lightmaps and if a character walks in the environment it wont look as good as UE5 version, specially when the character is holding a flshlight, and the lightmap in UE4 will take a lot of time to bake.
