      I ran it back to double check I heard it correctly. The announcer speaks of a “powerful V-8 engine “ while the picture shows an inline 6. LOL😂

      The Nova 9C1 was most commonly offered with the 350 V8 engine and is often described as the 4 Door Z28 based on the high performance design, with F41 suspension components, engine performance and many other heavy duty features.

      My daily driver is a retired LAPD P71. It just turned 190,000 miles and has only 405 hours of idle time. It is an absolute pleasure to drive, has been far more dependable than the new car it replaced and it’s happily borne my butt for the last four years. It’s going to my grandson when I replace it before year’s end.

    Historically two states have really driven police vehicle selection for the rest of the country. California and Michigan due to their very detailed evaluations of those vehicles by their state police agencies.

      Not too many of the police cars of California were used in the New York Tri-State area though. The majority were C-body Plymouths, until they were dumped.

    Some of the Chrysler cars on the early 70’s used by the CHP were equipped with the Dodge 440 for those long chases on I5.

      But those were stable cars. Can literally keep anyone in sight while the appropriate help arrives.

    Quick correction on the Diplomat: it was never offered with the 5.9/360. The three engine choices were the Slant Six (until '82-'83-ish), and the 2-barrel and 4-barrel 5.2L/318's.

    There was a problem with the wipers freezing up on the 94-96 Caprice due to poor placement of the dashboard defroster vent. it was placed in the middle, allowing freeze up. A common complaint in northern states.

      really, amazing since the 94-96 caprice was the exactly same car as the 93 caprice and all the impala's including the SSimpala, even the 92 thru 96 buick roadmaster used the same exact platform with the same a/c and heater vents, millions of these built and this is the first time ive ever heard of such bullshit. the wipers are not even close to the center of the windshield, the motor is off to the side and it uses long rails to run the wipers, take a look at where the wipers are mounted, not even close to the center of windshield area.

      @@AMERICAN-AUTOS The Matador was an excellent police cruiser, good enough for Adam-12. But it was ruined by Government "safety standards" that were worthless. AMC was forced to add that extended "schnozz" to the front end. It had a negative impact on handling and performance, causing AMC to quit making police cars by 1976.

    You forgot the real #1 the early to mid 2000's Caprice 9C1 with the 6.0L rear wheel drive made by Holden of Australia. Top speed of 154 pre modified. I know that for a fact!

    Chrysler Newport Enforcer from 1955 through 1981 it was not 65 and spread into the 80s race car that came into effect with the LHS Chrysler I said Enforcer

    I knew a mechanic who worked for the New Jersey State Police in the '60s, They were running the Chryslers with the big V8, they were almost bulletproof the engine would wear out before the torque flight transmission.

    In the Late 50s the New Jersey State Police bought a number of Chryslers for use on the Garden State Parkway and The New Jersey Turnpike because the speeds were higher than they felt their normal Ford units would be able to handle one even clocked and caught an E type Jaguar at over 120 on the way from New York City to Atlantic City

    I'm out. I was interested in this list until the Nova. How did a pic of a run-down beat-up straight 6 get put in the video? Not to mention the next pic also of a straight 6. All while talking about the Nova's V8. You either are ignorant about cars or just plain lazy. If you're not going to take the time to make a decent video free from errors as blatantly obvious as this then I am not going to waste my time watching it.

    seriously, the taurus as a police car, you must be smoking the same stuff the people that ordered them. laughable, i'm guessing you never discussed these choices with an actual officer group that had to use some of these jokes. you also show the little 6cyl engine in the nova. another point is the chevy caprice from 86 to 96, in 1993 the caprice was a completely different car than previous years, 93-96 was almost as good as the ford crown victoria. the cars listed that had a frame and body instead of unibody were actually the best and most reliable.
