I think it’ll be interesting if you do a video that shows how you can break way from the fundamentals once you have a strong foundation of them, I think I often find that intermediates can draw something correctly but not necessarily design it well. I think doing something technically well is half of the battle in art. If I were to define what design is, it’s saying what you want to say clearly, it’s an enhancement of reality, for example the twisting torso, the more technically skilled artist would just draw it with anatomical details in mind like how the obliques would assist in the motion and draw it that way while the guy with a more design oriented mind would think more in terms of shapes and iconography not only knowing the anatomical reason why a torso twist but how do you ENHANCE that truth so that they can say hey this torso is twisting!

I took a course with Sinix Design on this topic. It really comes down to the silhouette. If the silhouette reads clearly, it contributes in a large way to the overall design. A good silhouette will take into consideration things like big, medium, small, and a balance between straights/ hard angles and curves. It will also balance areas of activity and rest, areas that have more changes in the direction of lines (or the edges of a shape) and areas that have less change in the lines.
I highly recommend Sinix Design's Abstract Design course. It goes over all of this stuff without the imposition of trying to represent something accurately. If I get the chance, I plan on taking it again.

i dont understand the concept of twisting the box, when the torso (the ribcage specifically) cant twist.

you twist the middle part, it's explained

For the purposes of art (this isn't a medical channel, after all), it can be easier to picture the torso as a tall stretchy box than as two smaller, rigid boxes joined by a flexible spine and covered in skin. Depending on how angular you need your shapes, the later form, though technically more correct, can overcomplicate how you sketch things. At least that's my perspective.

Mhm. Guess it depends also, what works better for you. But you got a point there. From a technical point, its at least faster.

What? Your torso can most definitely twist. If your neck can turn left and right, it by wouldn’t the other parts of the spine?
