I've just watched this and listened to the interview. It's interesting to see how you brought the ocean closer and closer as the painting went on, until the Crone is finally practically sitting in it while nourishing a raging campfire, simultaneously embodying fire and water as elements. Nice details, especially her hair, which reminds me a bit of Andie MacDowell.

I see that in your paintings you paint dark on light, let me give you some advice that will help you, paint light on dark, first all the shadows and finally the light, the work will look better that way. Regards

Thanks for the advice. I'll give that a try and see what difference it makes. Sometimes I change my mind mid-painting and end up painting over areas multiple times. Would probably help if I sketched out the painting in more detail first.

@@summerthyme Yes, it is like that, you also have to test how it turns out during the development. I forgot to tell you that when you use ink or watercolor there it is dark on light. Keep moving forward with perseverance that your paintings are very beautiful and you have imagination. Greetings.

I really appreciate the encouragement 💛 I am curious why light on dark ends up looking better with oil paints. Any insight?

@@summerthyme Light is preferable over dark because the opposite gives a stained appearance (even more so if it is acrylic). Likewise, if you see that a shadow should be darker, darken it and then finish with the light tones. Observe in nature, the light is projected on the objects, cuts out the shadows, reflects light on the shadows. It is the light that forms things. I hope you understand, I use the translator. Greetings!

Interesting.. I think I understand. I'll do a few little test swatches just to see the difference visually but the way you explained it makes sense. Thanks again for the input!
