  • I've been building on that carrier on and off for like a year now, don't know how it will still take me to complete it. Anyways, built this little fighter for it already, was a bit of fight to make it look ok, but I think it turned out alright in the end.

This is the version of SE building we all aspire too but just aren't disciplined enough for. That method of persistent iteration is so inspirational.

1:44 Your intuition is right: Industrial hydrogen thrusters don't have any stick points on their sides and are 1 block longer than vanilla. Another pretty, but Inferior block.

The last color combo looks so good! the pastelish colorway is amazing and the "white" being a little beige gives it such an Old star wars vibe

I freaking love your builds, they are a massive inspiration for the ships i make and i have def incorporated elements of your style in my own builds. And i have started to use a development style similar to yours where i shape the ship up first from the outside and and accent using color, then work from there.
This ship and your ships has that slightly griddy worn out style. Very alike starwars. Dull/dusty and vibrant colors in contrast. Super cool. I also see how your used your own technique of gluing together different ships/changing width and depth of existing ships to make something new with the carrier, really cool concept!

when you have a darker recessed area with a lighter area more forward or above it's what an artist would call "Negative space" which breaks up the sameness of the overall form and creates visual interest in the same way that Greebles do. There's some ratio that I'm sure they tried to teach me when I was in art school but I usually just go with "what feels right"
As always you ship designs are on point and although we have vastly different methods of getting there I always love to see the ships you make.
[edit] I'm stealing that canard shape

Thanks for sharing Jon! I'm always impressed with your design proces. I'm going back to a fighter I was working on recently to play with some of the tips you gave in this video. Really appreciate it!

Thank you Major, you have really inspired me to continue my creations and to start new ones many times. This is a fantastic piece, and I loved the design process.

Always love your designs. Thanks for putting these videos together. It is interesting and educational to hear your thought process through the evelutions of the designs.

I would love to see your iterative design process for a small grid rover with a suspension setup.

I know it wont look as nice but covering up your ships hydrogen tanks with much needed armor greatly increases its survivability in combat, but i'm sure you know this. Anyways, cool ship; i'll definitely give it a spin.

Realised as soon as the carrier was on screen, you made a battleship we've been doing a modded refit on for a while now xD
Been a wonderful testbed so far!

I love your builds, they are just inspiring. I learn a lot on how to build my own ships with your videos. This one as well, the attention of detail on this fighter is superb. instant sub! Can't wait to see the carrier once its done!

Imagine if next to the Fighters, the carrier also docked to another smaller Frigate like Vessel. And them just like perfectly connecting.
    PLS DO 🗣‼️‼️

How do you get the grey background effect? It makes your builds pop out so well

so this may be a stupid question but how do i get the grey void room to build in. Im tired of day night cycles and getting distracted by the spinning of my wind generators.

The problem with carriers or carrying any other grid on your grid attached via landing gear or connector is how the 3rd person view forces between the two grids. This makes ACTUALLY PLAYING WITH THEM unplayable. Keen needs to fix this.

I do have a question on your older videos of your large grid ships… Do you make them a solid block first then make them hallow or do you just fill them up on your evaluation videos

I’d love to send some of my ships to finish off. Greebling is always hard for me. I’ll spend hours building it and getting it working, then delete it because I don’t like the shape

imo hydrogen tanks suck the big one is too big to armor up in smaller craft but the small ones hold like no fuel

I use a 25x mod, but makes my fighters short range or nonfunctional in vanilla. It’s really sad how the big ones barely fit.

    • @LeeSpork
      @LeeSpork 11 месяцев назад +1

The small tanks hold nearly the same amount of fuel per how many blocks of volume the tank takes up, so you can get away with small hydrogen tanks if you don't mind having thirty times as many as you would the larger tanks
