Hey Jordan, full respect for your channel mate. Just started the CPI Coaching course here in Australia and yours is my go-to Channel. Thank you for the inspiration. 🙏
JB - another great vid that is very helpful for this 3.0 older player to grow.. I was doing some of these and didn't know it until I saw this. Keep up the great work.
Skinny singles! Skinny singles! Skinny singles! I avoided it like the plague when I started but for past 2 months it’s my weekly go-to practice priority. It’s a game changer because it forces me to practice transition resets and disciplined shot selection. Keep up the great work and teaching 👊
Is skinny singles what it sounds like? Essentially, just using half the court? Are there any other nuances, or is everything else the same as a regular full court game?
Great video 🙏 Could you please advise on adjusting our shot selection based on the wind conditions? I've mostly played indoors and having trouble adjusting to windy weather 😅
For the resets and drops in the transition zone that Jordan was doing, I noticed that you were using a short, slow, slice blocking motion on both the forehands and backhands. Is that easier to control for a drop reset shot than the regular up and through motion, especially when under pressure or dealing with shots with pace? Also, for the shading when you are in the transition zone, how should you shade (towards the side the ball is going to or away from)?
I may shade a tad, but the most important thing is to get in a wide low stance. It may look like I’m slicing the ball, but I’m more just lifting the ball up slightly. It may have a little bit of slice, but not much
Great video! I can feel all the items listed and probably the biggest one is lack of drilling. Most things intermediate and below believe the rec games will do it - they won’t. Drilling and practicing should be cornerstone - as “you guys” (lol) said, repetition is key! Again, awesome content!
Hopefully more people will get Caden's Message at the end. you can practice. You can't simply just play. You have to practice drilling. This is life advice not just pickleball
For the skinny singles drill, we usually start by serving cross court and then the server moves to the receivers side (almost as if the server was stacking). This makes the server and receiving the serve more realistic (at least it seems that way to me). Is there any reason not to start a skinny singles point that way?
@@vincentgorman8271 Congratulations you made a seemless transition from constructive criticism to tosser. @Jordan full respect for your channel mate. Just started the CPI Coaching course here in Australia and yours is my go-to Channel. Thank you for the inspiration.
Good list of mistakes to avoid, thanks! For #4 (don't always be stepping back from the kitchen line), you didn't point out one key aspect of how Jordan handled the situation in which he decided to step back: his next shot, the one he hit after stepping back from the line, was a soft, controlled dink, designed to land near his opponent's feet and to give him *time* to step back up to the kitchen line.
Unrelated, but how do your neighbors feel about the pickleball noise? Is this something you have to deal with HOA for? Are the neighbors pickleball people too?
Great video guys. I wonder if the ranking is regional, cause if these tips are for 4.0 mistake makers, then... I'm a 4.25. But in reality I'm 3.5ish. I don't see how someone could be better than me and make the mistakes you listed. Or did you purposely title it this to buff the algorithm interaction 😏
I would argue that turning your feet at the kitchen line is not a good thing, it’s easy for your opponent to hit it at your backside causing you to be turned around in a worse position to hit the ball
Jordan and Caden - please know that a lot of people don’t agree with this comment. Here in Ohio, and all over the Midwest, we ALL say “you guys” ALL THE TIME!!! These tips give me more confidence as I prepare for my first tournament of the year this weekend.
You can do it!
My wife and I had group lessons with Caden. He was very helpful and we learned a lot. Keep winning Caden.
Awesome!
Liked this tutorial as it showed many good points and was not too verbose.
Thanks!
Thank you, very helpful. I need to work on transition zone... and everything else :)
Glad it was helpful!
These are all valuable tips. I see myself making the unforced errors so it's reinforcing to see them on video and how to correct.

Hi Guys!! When would shuffle your feet side to side instead of doing a cross over ?
I try to shuffle as much as I can so that I can stay in front of the ball. I will cross step at times to get into position to hit a good slice.
Great content! 😊
Thanks!!!
Spot on.
👍🏻😎
Hey which Selkirk paddle are you playing with in this video Jordan?
Project 003
Jordon, is this video, what net system are you using?
C&D pickleball nets

Yes!

Glad you liked it!
another awesome guide to improvement!!!!
Thanks!
At the pro level, how many hours per week on average do they drill?
It varies by the pro, I would say average 10 hours
Did Caden switch to a power air? I thought he was playing Halo. Edit: it actually looks like both of you switched to more power oriented paddles?
He did, I did not 😊

Lots of players “think”, they are doing all these things until they record themselves. Lol
Great video 💕

Thanks, will do!
Caden's demeanor is so different when he's teaching versus when he's on the podcast.
Being natural on camera takes time to master. His podcast personality is how he is in real life lol

One dimensional players! Exactly!
They never, ever more up to the next level. Very frustrating to coach them.

Which mistakes are you making?
I would get into them but RUclips comments have a character limit of only 10,000 characters
Not Drilling. Gonna get to it, next time I'm out. Thanks for the content, boyos.
I feel like I'm not opening up enough to my girlfriend. She tells me I'm too quiet and sometimes I think I take it for granted that she cares for me.
Not looking at the ball (through contact). Watching to see if you cover that!

Nothing wrong with stepping back off of the line, if it’s done correctly !
4.0 is intermediate...? Since when? 3.5 is advance beginner, 3.0 of intermediate beginner, and 2.5 is beginner?
Depends where you play …
@@BrionesPickleball Yeah... No. The rating system is not regional.
The is an official rating, but club ratings are all over the the place
@@BrionesPickleball Right, and it would be silly to use a club rating in the video title. DUPR themselves lists 4.0 as "advance".
