As an old denim head, I would of discussed washing them. A dark wash will fade quickly with washes, however, don't wash them often, maybe every 6 months, or when they get extremely stretched. Instead, Febreeze antimicrobial spray and a wash cloth to rub out any marks/stains, then just toss them in the dryer. It will bring them back to shape, clean, and remove any odor, without wringing out the color of the wash, the same definitely applies to black jeans as well. Washing should honestly only be necessary when you completely get them filthy, and after months of use without washing, it will bring out the natural lines and distress in the fabric that you've rightfully worked very hard for.
Please make a new video with info on where to buy the best jeans. I bought the Dark Denim from Banana Republic and GAP a few years back and they were some of the best leans I had purchased, but they no longer sell those jeans and the quality has gone down hill. I never bought the UNIQLO jeans but they’ve been out of stock for years. Thank you glad your back making new content.
Thank you for making this video! I thought i was a length 32 for years then i listened to your advice on where the pants should end. I got a shorter pair and it looks neater without bunching fabric by my shoes
I really appreciate that you gave specifics for muscular guys. Being a muscular person I’ve had lots of trial and error and find that most modern jeans don’t fit, even ones labeled “relaxed”. I found that very classic style jeans such as the wranglers you see cowboys wear fit well, and other old fashioned work style jeans. One thing I’d like to add to your tips for well shaped men would be to find pants that sit up on the actual waist, near the belly button. And tuck the shirt in. The same as a women with a nice small waist, she shows it off, it looks great. So should a man 👌🏼
I still believe in selvage so please if anyone reads this there are a lot of options and brands that use stretch in selvage denim! Naked & Famous being a big one, Denim distributors like Denimio and Redcast heritage have a filter on their websites to narrow down what selvage jeans have stretch. Also if you’re not a fan of stretch but want comfortability look for selvage jeans that use Zimbabwe cotton. It is super soft and comfortable and breathable.

In an older jeans video, I seem to remember that you recommended the tapered fit over the slim fit, no? The Diesel Buster dark wash jeans used to be my favorite, as they fitted me perfectly, but unfortunately Diesel took them out of their collection. Still haven't found a good alternative with a similar fit. What do you think of the Diesel tapered jeans 2023 d-finitive? Thanks
Nice informative video. Thanks for making it. All of my jeans are Dark Wash. Some are slim fit, but some are straight fit. I normally wear one of my slim fits unless I am wearing my cowboy boots. I wear the boots when I dress up because I don't own dress shoes and don't want to. When I wear my cowboy boots, I have to wear one of the straight fits because the slim fit leg opening won't accommodate them.
Love the videos and this is a very comprehensive guide. One thing I've found for me though is that even though I'm a heavy build, I still do a slight taper at the leg because my ankles are smaller as are my calves. Straight fit jeans and chinos turn into flood pants on me. However, you covered that fantastically with the inch pinch rule and the ankles. Thank you for the great content.

Breathed a sigh of relief at 7:10. Struggle so hard with jeans + dress shoes or jeans + sport coat..just feels incorrect (even if it seems to be somewhat en vogue at the moment). Edit: your example later in the video actually looks really nice.
Recently, I've started my selvedge jeans collection. I got tired of taking the time to break-in regular denim, to only have it fall apart soon after. I'm hoping the jeans I have (a 14 oz and a 21 oz) will last me a very long time. I'm also looking forward to the unique fades. Would you mind making a video about caring for selvedge denim jeans? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about when and how to wash them. Some people recommend only washing them once or twice a year! I'm so used to washing them after one or two wears... I'm not sure how I feel about wearing them six months without a wash, haha.
You need dark wash jeans for boots. Also dark wash jeans for more casual boots. As for me I have a have raw denim dark wash and also regular dark wash. I like slim fit and straight leg for boots.
So…I feel heard! And understood! I am really very grateful for your time putting this video together. I felt so comfortable listening to you and feel like you’re not trying to turn me into something I’m not. I’m a regular bigger dude. Other channel recommendations have me scratching my head and I feel like they’re not speaking to me. So thank you! 😊
I only just got my first pair but got them hemmed cause I can wear a 30 but it's bit to snug around hips but length is good but can also do 32's but it's vise versa, can wear without a belt but prefer but a bit long in the length so I got them shortened not even by much and I showed my parent's and they said think got them a bit short. Cause when I sit them at the waist they show bit of my stocks/ankles, which I don't know if it's a good thing or not to have that. So I have to pull down Abit, but before getting them fixed I looked in a mirror and they looked fine. But I have a few shoes that are a bit higher at the angels to cover it. And this is only cause I'm a 22yrs guy who is 5'4ish maybe bit taller so sometimes finding things that automatically fit to the T is a semi hard thing
You are right with the slim fit cut. But rolled up sloppy Regular Jeans with combat-boots can look dope as well... especially if the man looks masculine... like Zakk Wylde is wearing
So what am I supposed to do when I've got the "dad bod" thing going on up top (a bit of a belly, but definitely not "fat" or husky) and skinny legs? I try sticking with slim tapered and I guess that's ok?
I'm a shorter guy that's on the heavier side would it look ok if I were to fold up my jeans with boots? My wife just told me no cause of my height what's your rule on this?
Personally there’s 3 things I hate in jeans. 1 skin tight jeans, 2 cuffed jeans, don’t know why but I’d rather them way to long than cuffed, and 3 when they’re too short there should be no break and go over the shoe but not too much. I know these kind of contradict but that’s my opinion
I think for me It depends on men what jeans what's best for them. ask for me I love to wear skinny jeans Levi's 510 & Levi's 511 slim fit. I don't want to wear a loose jeans.
You want loose or straight fit, definitely not skinny, they are out. Loose look better slightly stacked at the ankle, never turn them up, never wear ankle jeans, better to be longer by a couple of inches than short.
@@jproog41 ok, I wear Levi loose fit carpenter jeans or Diesel loose fit. I've also got Kalvin's wide leg. All probably too wide. 501s are a straight leg and a touch looser than they used to be, Levi do a load of straight leg now. I'll tell you a good straight jean, Diesel Larkee 👍

Thanks for the video! I’d definitely recommend being careful wearing newer dark denim with any white shoes. The dye will rub off on the laces and upper. Also, don’t forget about the rise - it’s as important as the fit. Some jeans are built to sag on hips without tucking in a shirt, some have a higher rise so they fit more like pants. Definitely something to keep in mind if dressing the jeans nicely.
