I love how you guys come up with a clear explanation about certifications and the role of being a Cloud Architect. It helped me a lot because one of the things that is burning me out lately is to be part of a demanding job market - that forces you to have a lot of different ones without specifying what you're actually going to do there.
I'm transitioning to this role having a development background and usually is not clear what you've to pursue in order to achieve this position.

@GoCloudArchitects I agree with most of your shared insight. Certifications only carry so much weight. There's a hard limit for skills predictability with all certifications. However, when you say things like "someone should know when to use a forward proxy or reverse proxy", or "someone should know how S3 object store works under the hood" --paraphrasing of course--I think your opinions carry more weight when you recommend learning resources to help people improve. I think you could have instructed the view to pick up a "systems design" book and learn how to create S3, or how to engineer Twitter while assessing the system/component architecture trade-offs. Small recommendations like that will help people learn move, elevate their understanding.

Thank you for your comment, and I'm sorry that was your takeaway. We don't offer a certification. We do however encourage using certifications the right way to best support your desired goals. Usually highlight 2-3 certifications if necessary. Our primary concern is competency in a subject area.
