ahh yeah? I grew up with this man's music, it's amazing to see people hearing it for the first time. He had an amazing vocal range, technique and great songs.
As all the other Aussies are saying, watch John Farnham LIVE on stage. John has amazing singing ability. He is soooo charismatic and has such a wonderful interaction with his audience. They love him and are with him all the way. He is a humble man of integrity who shows appreciation to his audience, his musicians and backing singers. He is rock royalty of Oz ! Love him !
@barnowl I couldn't have said it better👌always prefer john singing live, especially his version of help(get's me everytime) and when the war is over!!! sending my love for jf♥️🇩🇪🇭🇲
John is supported by phenomenal musicians and he often has a feature moment for them in his productions. That was David Hirschfelder, highly respected composer and musician (from my home town of Ballarat, Victoria). His songs often also have a theme of getting along, peace and respect. As for live performances, there’s plenty out there so go for it. My personal favourites are Burn For You, When the War is Over and Angels.
That baby is John’s first son Robert. Angels, Playing to Win and Let Me Out are great songs to hear live. But if you want something extra special watch John with Anthony Warhlow at The Main Event Concert Hi Art. Anthony is another awesome singer. More opera as he played the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera in Australia. Enjoy!!
If you want to see John singing jazz, light opera, romantic duets, musicals all LIVE, there is a concert that toured Oz with Olivia Newton John & Anthony Warlow called The Main Event (1998) that is great (in the round). One of my personal favourites to illustrate his range & artistry is Gethsemane, recorded on the last night of Jesus Christ Superstar in Sydney in 1992 and I was there. Goose bumps head to toes. Freddie Mercury asked John to take his place in Queen when his time was near, but John is a family man & declined (married 50yrs now). Paul McCartney said John sang Help the way he wanted it arranged but was outvoted for their up tempo version, which he regrets. Angel sung with one of his backing singers is gorgeous, as is Amazing Grace with Venetta Fields & Lindsay Field, two more backing singers of long standing. Black Dog with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra having the time of their lives is absolutely exuberant fun! All live versions are best with him because he's a people person and the audiences give back. John is alsoa lovely human, as well as a quarter horse breeder & rider. Cheers.
Hi Ginger and Mike …John’s Career started way back in 1967… as a pop idol…. If you want to kill 2 birds with one stone …. Search for these live versions….One ( is the loneliest number) for … Live …. Raindrops keep falling on my head…..Comic Conversation….. and My personal favourite Please Don’t ask Me ….Love to see you react to these songs …. Good luck…. Craig.
I had a John Farnham cassette with the voice and the voice and the voice... it would have been nice to listen to something diffetent ftom him on the radio so I coul have taped it.
He’s always better LIVE. His studio recordings do him no justice. Where he goes into his head voice here, LIVE he actually belts those notes. It’s incredible. I don’t know why he held back in the recordings. Absolutely no point watching the videos when you can watch he live with either the Melbourne symphony orchestra or his amazing band.
I’d recommend When the War is Over- the version he sung with Jimmy Barnes!! Also Burn for You is beautiful and shows his vocal control and range. Agree with others that Farnsey must be listened to live. He’s a master of the stage and he is well known for his mike tricks too !
You cannot beat jonh farnham live . John and jimmy Barnes are great together . Also if you can see if you can get the main event concert with john farnham Olivia Newton john and anthony warlow. Im sure you guys will love it
You know, Ginger, Australia is pretty urban, we all hang out on the coasts. I don't think you'll see any spiders. While here, I'll put in a word for another great Australian band, Midnight Oil...try BEDS ARE BURNING, a cool song that Patti Smith covered really well also
Hi Mike & Ginger, may I suggest watching "Paying to Win" From John Farnham's Chain Reaction concert, recorded on 14th (or 15th) December, 1990 at Flinders Park Tennis Stadium.
We don’t have an accent. You do. If you haven’t seen John live in person, then you haven’t seen or heard John. He leaves everything on that stage and he is a great showman. His voice range is huge and I once saw him sing Opera with Anthony Warlow. John is funny and kind and normal. I don’t believe he will sing again, Covid is the finish.
Not sure if you noticed one of the Lyrics When he said "SO WHY CANT WE BE STILL WHY CANT WE LOVE EACH OTHER? IS KINDNESS AN ANCIENT SKILL BURIED BY OUR BLINDNESS?" Those Words Ring True especially with Whats going on in this Gen Why can't we just Love Each other and be Kind
John is also way more entertaining and he’s HILARIOUS! Look up him on “hey hey it’s Saturday” on RUclips. He’s hilarious and you will see the true him.
The live versions of this are really a lot better. Some of his early videos have dated a bit, including this one. He's phenomenal live. I've been to a few of his concerts and the energy levels are through the roof. He's a great entertainer and really connects with his audience. He always fills the venue too which adds great atmosphere. Just a sad note. Today we heard that John's manager and best friend of many years, Glenn Wheatley died from a Covid related illness. John is beyond devastated, as we all are.😥
I was impressed to see Agnes Obel reactions -- nice job. Here are a few unreal groups no one ever reacts to. Submotion Orchestra - Swansong (every album and song is unreal from this English group). Yuna (sounds like Sade from Malaysia) - Unrequited Love. Kid Creole and the Coconuts - Stool Pigeon (unreal act with hoochie koochie singers... very unique and a kick). Linda Lovich -- Lucky Number (B52's kinda of sound). Each of these songs should generate a huge WOW.
I love Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Stool Pigeon, of course, but Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy kills me every time. 🤣 Don't know any of those other acts, though. Thanks for the tips. - M
I've always like this song but, yeah it did seem to lack some energy. My John Farnham favorites are "Two Strong Hearts" "That's Freedom" "Playing to Win" (when with Little River Band) and "Thunder in your Heart" the theme to an 80s BMX movie called Rad.
Agree with doctor Jeff below: Angels (ruclips.net/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/видео.html) - shows his playful nature. Amazing Grace (ruclips.net/video/_x6N94OEkZQ/видео.html) - showing his versatility - takes a back seat to his backing singer Vanetta Fields before joining in. Also "My Yiddishe Momme" with Tom Jones ruclips.net/video/EWJ_huO5vto/видео.html. And then all the other live performances everyone has mentioned!
Hey guys would you please consider doing a reaction video to "26 cents" by the Grammy winning Canadian Trio, The Wilkinson's. Amanda Wilkinson, the lead singer of the group wrote the song when she was 16 years old and won a Grammy for it and the trio won a Grammy for Album of the year, the album is called, "nothing but Love" and this song is on that album. The lyrics and video has a beautiful message. The original video can be found at "the wilkinson's 26 cents mtv".......
Best singer of all time, always best to check out his live versions always better. You should check out “burn for you” and “touch of paradise” next ruclips.net/video/4PPvOhPspEA/видео.html
guys, i know that you love agnes obel and you did some really lovely reactions on her. i have stumbled upon a cover version of "the curse" by banana shrimp and i thought: oh well, these boots are too big to walk in, but that was a big failure. go and give her a listen, it is really amazing how she managed to make this great cover, all alone with no instruments ruclips.net/video/u7CN4QSAbN0/видео.html
Do these two really think people are watching the video of this awful song to see their “reactions”?
913 people so far. Including you 🤣 - G
ahh yeah? I grew up with this man's music, it's amazing to see people hearing it for the first time. He had an amazing vocal range, technique and great songs.
@@ruxtonau still has for a man of 73.
@@wren1960 he's not this good anymore, he's lost some range, but he's still bloody good.
@@ruxtonau yeah ok he can't sing Help
very lucky man indeed, johns a great artist

Farnsey is way better to watch live, his love for performing shows and the energy is so much better.
So glad you're intending to do more John. Thankyou!

Whilst Live John is great, I do love watching the video versions. It’s always wild to see the world captured at that moment in time. 🇦🇺💕
You two have to check out John's hit song "Two Strong Hearts." John also sang lead on the last really good Little River Band hit song "We Two."
Loved your reaction. "Angel" and "Burn for You" are amazing also "When the War is Over" ( The last time in Melbourne 2003)
Strong message. Epic mullet. Well old song, but nestled in the hearts of Australia. Live is always better.
Man I was disappointed when the music video started instead of live.Gingers spot on,do more live love!
He is the best live…. His concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is the best…

Always and I mean always do John live!! 😊🇦🇺
I think, Farnsy as Baz K said, has been around since the mid 60’s and is a legend around here. Great voice. ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
Don't stop trying to be Aussie!!!, Ginger it's a work in process, 49 years later I still haven't learnt it 🙂, that was fine, you both rock

One of my favourite tracks...and sometimes I love the official vid over a live version.
Got to watch him live
Good choice Ginger, Love the song and video.

Must watch John's 50th birthday live show.

Actually my favourite Farnham song from the Whispering Jack album here it is live ruclips.net/video/PCg4H35O5vA/видео.html
He doesn’t do the octave jump up for the chorus on the video. Best version in your link Pedro!
That’s better!!
Great reaction but do the live shows soo much better this one live is awesome, cheers :)
The bomb
You're right he is better live. He is restrained in is videos.
Try john farnham and Jimmy barnes sing "something is wrong with my baby "

John is great but alway 100% better live. If you are going to react to any more always chose a live version. You will not be disappointed.
Had! Some hair, had, being the operative word.
Something is wrong with my baby live is incredible

Back in the 80s there was a band called the Cockroaches which are now known as the wiggles..
I love the Wiggles! - G

Even better live , anymore reactions of Farnsey need to be with live recordings .
It’s a pity you’re not given accurate info on Australia. We don’t see spiders every day or every month! You’re better listening to John singing live.
Live performances only for Farnaey
Best singer of all time, always best to check out his live versions always better. You should check out “burn for you” and “touch of paradise” next ruclips.net/video/4PPvOhPspEA/видео.html
Nah he muffs the words in this version, this one is better ruclips.net/video/KhBfdn_wUZc/видео.html
The volume was very low.
Here is a shorter version of
When The War Is Over by Farnsy
ruclips.net/video/lfWrXc5eN8g/видео.html
After his surgery and jaw reconstruction, not sure if he will be able to sing again. He's much better in concert.
Oh come on you gotta do when something is wrong with my baby with Jimmy Barnes.
I found the volume of the video needed to be turned up. It didn’t match the louder volume of your speaking voices.

Farnsey is much better live. Just like Barnsey.
Not really inspiring. Angels and Amazing Grace are my favs. To each his/her own.
Aussie advice. Sadie the Cleaning Lady. Go original.
oh my gosh, his hair style is sooooooo BAD! ;-)
By today’s standard but back in the the eighties it was the fashion.
Everyone loved it.@@rodfletcher9937
Your 2 talking it's silly
Not funny
Horrible music video , the live versions are better
Strong message. Epic mullet. Well old song, but nestled in the hearts of Australia. Live is always better.
